CARNARVONSHIRE. 2.— Conway ( Co.).— For stealing ( servant), 23rd inst., deep mustard yellow knitted woollen costume, thick white silk crocheted jumper, pair grey suede shoes.— Nancy Smith, b. 1906 or 1907 ( looks older), 5ft. 4 or 5in., well built, c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue ; dress, stolen clothing, cream coloured straw hat with yellow around, may also wear long dk. brown coat. Amended and additional inf.— Sapphire and diamond ring ( 1 sapphire, 2 small diamonds, 1 large sapphire, 2 small diamonds and 1 small sapphire); diamond and ruby ring ( ruby and diamond alternate, 5 stones); pearl pendant, loose pearl hanging and brooch pin ; round gold pendant, set small diamond and ruby, also bird worked in gold, inscription round edge with Maria Verity, 18, and date, photo of baby opposite ; double curb bracelet; diamond and gold half- moon brooch ( 3 small diamonds); red stone brooch ( believed garnet), twisted gold setting; gold vinaigrette, one door opens ; and £ 7 10s. Obtained situation as butler on 11th inst., and left 25th inst., telling cook he was going for walk and would be back in about an hour. Was seen proceeding in direction of Buxton. Left behind suit- case and various articles of clothing. Knows London well and is said to have been a steward on the Canadian Pacific boats. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. HAMPSHIRE. 5 - Gosport ( Co.).— For stealing, 23rd or 24th inst., small brown leather purse; blue melton overcoat with velvet collar, belt at back, to fit man 5ft. 9in. ; and about £ 1 Os. 6d.— A Man, b. about 1898, 5ft. 8 or 9in., h. fair, clean shaven, prominent nose ; dress, blue suit ( very much worn), It. brown overcoat, white soft collar with blue and black vertical stripes, dk. tie with silver stripes, blue front with dk. blue stripe. Stated an upholsterer. Was given accommodation by loser, and absconded during tho night with above property. Inf. to Supt. Abel, Gosport. 6.— Lyndhurst ( Co.).— Arthur Gabriel Beten- son, Case No. 8, 22- 6- 23, is identical with Arthur Gabriel Betenson, C. R. Fan who gave name of Gerald Trevor, alias Arthur Gray Bentley, b. 1893 to 1897, 5ft. 10 or llin., c. ruddy ( sun- burnt), e. ( believed) dk. brown, clean shaven, one foot slightly deformed, very plausible ; dress, navy blue suit, yellow woollen waistcoat, striped shirt and collar, large reel and black stripeel muffler, fawn trilby hat, brown boots or black patent dress shoes, respectable appearance, carried navy blue mackintosh and brown varnished walking- stick ; also had in his possession pair brown gauntlet gloves and pair grey suede gloves, and pair goggles. Stayed at the inn on night of 26th inst., and after he had left about noon on 27th, above articles were found to be missing. States he has served in Royal Air Force. Was engaged by loser to canvass for goods on salary and commission and asked for loan of bicycle and suit- case in order to take goods to a distant customer. A Man who gave name of Redman, b. about 1899, about 5ft. 7in., c. ruddy, h. brown, clean shaven ; dress, grey tweed overcheck suit, grey trilby hat, blue striped soft collar, mauve knitted tie, grey socks and brown shoes ( new). Left behind at lodgings small brown attache- case, containing leather cigarette case and metal cigarette case with engraving of cathedral in bronze and words Dom Zukoln. Appears identical with Alfred Ernest Brown, C. R. O. No. 20355- 22, Case No. 56, current issue. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Eastbourne. WARWICKSHIRE. 112.- Birmingham ( City).— For obtaining £ 135 by trick, 21st inst. Patrick Roach, alias Roche, C. R. O. No. 2681- 02, 111. Cir. 81- 2, b. 1880, 5ft. 7Jin., c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, London accent; dress, brown tweed Raglan coat, blue suit, collar and tie. A clerk ; native of Birmingham. Pre. con. of larceny and larceny ( person), conspiracy to defraud and minor offences at SOLIHULL, BIRMINGHAM, STOURBRIDGE ( Patrick Roach), GREAT YARMOUTH ( William Roach) and in CITY OF LONDON ( George Wilson). Frequents race meetings.— George Black ( believed false), b. 1885, 5ft. 5in., c. very dk., h. brown, e. blue, thin face, appearance of half caste ; dress, blue suit and overcoat, collar, large tie, wore fly shaped tiepin ( wings set diamonds, head enamelled). Loser received wire, 21st inst., purporting to come from his father at Ascot instructing him to deal with Dennis, as he had not sufficient money to do so. Shortly afterwards Roach entered loser's shop, said he had been with the latter's father at Ascot, produced 4 diamond rings, and said he wanted £ 150. Left saying he would return later, and in meantime loser had rings valued. On his return loser offered £ 125, which Roach refused, and latter went outside to consult Black. Eventually agreed to accept £ 135, and asked loser to bring him a drink of water, and during his absence substituted 4 other rings, and received £ 135 for same. The rings were later found not to be the same as those originally shown loser. Warrant issued. inf. to the C. C., Birmingham.
