Walter Frederick Heam, Case No. 231 ( Vol. II.), was sentenced as James Nash, at Newport ( Boro.) Pol. Ct., 23- 9- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for being on enclosed premises with intent. 1^ 19. Frank Greenhalgh, Case No. 3 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced at Oldham Pol. Ct., 31- 8- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for cvclestealing and receiving. Stole the bicycle which had been left unattended in the street, ^ 320. William Vincent French, Case No. 172 ( Vol. V.), was sentenced at Manchester ( City) Pol. Ct., 1- 9- 1927, to 3 mos. impt,, for obtaining money by false pretences. Obtained a position as a buyer of fruit for a firm, falsely purported that his season ticket on the railway cost a certain amount and obtained half the cost. ^ Thomas Hargreaves, Case No. 202 ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced as Arthur Valentine Trent, at Bow Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 21- 9- 1927 to 3 mos. impt,, for being a suspected person, loitering for the purpose of picking pockets. S Frederick Stride, Case No. 436 ( Vol. VII.), was sentenced at Folkestone Q. Sess., 17- 9- 1927, to 3 vrs. pen. for larcenv from dwelling house. J 321. Diana Black, Case No. 252 ( Vol. VlIT. t, was sentenced as Rose Wood, at Great Yarmouth Pol. Ct., 10- 9- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for loitering with intent. Visited various shops without making purchases. Bertha Tappenden, Case No. 200 ( Vol. XIV.), and Gertrude Scully, C. R. O. No. 9434- 1921, were convicted with her. 322. George Evans, Case No. 378 ( Vol. VII1.), was sentenced as John Carter, at C. C. C., 15- 9- 1927, to 5 yrs. pen. for larceny and uttering. Called at a house and said he had an appointment with the occupier. Whilst left alone stole two cheques, one of which he afterwards uttered. v/ 323. John Barker, Case No. 517 ( Vol. IX.), was at C. L. S., 13- 9- 1927, bound over own recognizances £ 5 for 2 yrs. for shopbreaking ( 2 cases). Gained access to lock- up shops by means of false key and ripped off the back of a safe. J William Robert Dunn, Case No. 237 ( Vol. X.), was sentenced at C. C. C., 13- 9- 1927, to 4 yrs. pen. and 6 yrs. p. d. for possessing housebreaking implements by night, housebreaking and being a h. c. Was released from previous sentence, 15- 7- 1927. v/ Richard Harvey, Case No. 65 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at C. C. C., 14- 9- 1927, to 8 and 1 mos. impt. ( conc.) for assault on police and attempted suicide. " 324. Walter Herbert Stone, Case No. 367 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at Bristol Pol. Ct., 23- 9- 1927, to 1 mo. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Called on the licensee of a public house, informed him he had just arrived in at a certain dock on an oil tanker, represented he was being paid of! the following day and obtained money to tide him over. Claude Ramsey, Case No. 411 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at Bow Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 16- 9- 1927> to 3 mos. impt. for illegally wearing the medal ribbon of the Victoria Cross. Was dressed in th^ uniform of an Army Captain. / ^ Edward Johnstone, Case No. 444 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at Fenny Stratford P. Sess. s 22- 9- 1927, to 1 day impt. for being a suspected person ( frequenting), and at Aylesbury Pol. Ct. s 23- 9- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for larceny from dwelling house. Mj25. Victor McKenna, Case No. 101 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced as Albert Victor Sturdy & Manchester ( City) Pol. Ct., 16- 9- 1927, to 6 and 6 mos. impt. ( conc.) and 3 mos. impt. ( cons.), for receiving ( 2 case^ and stealing a bicycle. / 326. Maurice Friend, Case No. 152 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced at Buckingham P. Sess., 20- 9- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Posed as a man of position and friend of a local gentleman on whom he called. Induced the butler to give him note paper, said he was short of cash and asked where he could get a cheque cashed, was given the name of a local tradesman, called on the tradesman, showed him the note paper with the gentleman's address thereon, and induced him to cash a worthless cheque. J John Francis Kingsley O'Connor, Case No. 155 ( Vol. XII.), was at Liverpool ( City) Pol. Ct., 15- 9- 1927, bound over in £ 5 for 12 mos. for stealing clothing and jewellery from a boarding house. Method as in ( i) original case. A case of larceny at Blackpool was taken into consideration when sentence was passed. I Frank Griffith Thomas, Case No. 218 ( Vol. XII ), was sentenced at Marylebone Pol. Ct. ( L.), 10- 9- 1927, to 3, 3, 3 and | 3 mos. impt. ( cons.) for larceny ( 2 cases) obtaining a coat by false pretences ( worthless cheque) ; and attempting to obtain a coat by false pretences, ( i) Stole a suit- case from an omnibus ; ( ii) stole an attache- case from a motor car left unattended ; ( iii) and ( iv) method as in original case. Percy Miles Hopkins, C. R. O. No. 6000- 1914, was convicted with him. ^ Henry Williams, Case No. 220 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Henry William Hurlstone, at Doncaster ( Boro.) Pol. Ct., 7- 9- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for loitering on racecourse for the purpose of picking pockets. 328^ Guy Cochrane Veale Greetham, Case No. 124 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced at Marylebone Pol. Ct. ( L.), 14- 9- 1927, to 4, 4 and 4 mos. impt. ( cons.), for larceny, forging and uttering a worthless cheque and obtaining money by false pretences. Method as in original case. Ten other cases of a similar nature at Tunbridge Wells, Lancing, Shoreham- by- Sea, Ryde, Southampton, Portsea, Bedford and in the M. P. D. were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. Used the names of Captain Guy Cochrane Veale Greetham, Captain W. R. P. Walmesley and L. R. Stanford. ^ Bertha Tappenden, Case No. 200 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced as Marie Shaw, at Gt. Yarmouth Pol. Ct., 10- 9- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for loitering with intent. Visited various shops without making purchases. Diana Black, Case No. 252 ( Vol. VIII.) and Gertrude Sculley, C. R. O. No. 9434- 1921, were convicted with her. LATEST INFORMATION. y Marcus Barthropp, Case No. 177 ( Vol. I.), was liberated, 4- 10- 1927, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 81, Clapham Road. ^ Fred Sullivan, Case No. 174 ( Vol. III.), was liberated on licence, 30- 9- 1927, to Gloucester. Albert Wilham Field, Case No. 337 ( Vol. III.), was liberated, 27- 9- 1927, to Birmingham. l/ Walter George Brewer, Case No. 376 ( Vol. IV.), was liberated, 24- 9- 1927, into the M. P. D. y Harold Malcolm Graham, Case No. 156 ( Vol. V.), was liberated on licence, 29- 9- 1927, to Derby., 7 Frank Milton, Case No. 1 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated, 24- 9- 1927, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 39, Cambridge Street, W. 2. v/ Emily Newland, Case No. 206 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated, 27- 9- 1927, into the M. P. D. ^ John Flynn, Case No. 286 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated 22- 9- 1927, into the M. P. D. P. D. NOTE.— In the event of information being received of the DEATH of any criminal whose particulars have appeared in POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT A, the fact should be notified to C. R. O. As the latest information or subsequent conviction of criminals, whose particulars have been inserted in Supplement A, will appear in each issue at the end of the cases, the original numbers should be cross- referenced on printed lines provided for that purpose. i * SPECIAL NOTICE. When any person whose portrait and description have appeared in Supplement A is again arrested for any offence, and on account of being locally known the finger prints are not sent to C. R. O. for the purpose of search, it is requested that particulars of such conviction be sent to Criminal Record Office as soon as possible in order that they may appear in an early issue of Supplement A for the information of all Forces.
