Ct. ( L.), 19- 7- 1927, to 3 mos. impt for obtaining money by false pretences ( worthless cheque). Annie Price, Case No. 15 ( Vol. II.), was, as Annie Judkins at Guildhall Pol. Ct. ( L.), 12- 7- 1927, fined £ 10 for stealing clothing from shop. Joseph Clement Hughes, Cases Xos. 312 ( Vol. II.) and 111 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced at Bury ( Boro.) Pol. Ct., 15- 7- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Henry Elliott, Cases Nos. 312 ( Vol. III.) and 114 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced at C. C. C., 4- 7- 1927, to 4 yrs. pen. and 6 yrs. p. d. for housebreaking, larceny and being a h. c. Method as in original case. 262. Austin Mostyne Earle, Case Xo. 48 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced as Arthur Stanger at Manchester Ass., 4- 7- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. for obtaining money by false pretences. Posed as chief officer of U. S. A. " America," and was dressed in the uniform of officer in Mercantile Marine. Represented he could take complainant to America as passenger at reduced rate. Arthur Graham, Case No. 36 ( Vol. V.), was sentenced as William Graham at Westminster Pol. Ct. ( L.), 23- 7- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for being a suspected person ( loitering for the purpose of picking pockets). James Besant, Case Xo. 366 ( Vol. IX.), and George Rawson, C. R. O. Xo. S/ 33431, were convicted with him. 263. George Wilmore, Case No. 13 ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced at C. C. C., 21- 7- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. and 5 yrs. p. d. for burglary and being a h. c. Gained access to a country villa by cutting out the^ cellar window, forcing a door and releasing the bolt, at rear of premises. George Day, Case No. ' 2' i ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced at Northumberland Sess., 14- 7- 1927, to 18 and 18 mos. impt. ( conc.) for obtaining food by false pretences ( 2 cases). Method as in original case. Thirteen other cases of false pretences were . taken into consideration when sentence was passed. Harry Ellison, Case No. 310 ( Vol. VII.), was sentenced as Harry Knight at Glamorgan Sess., 19- 7- 1927, to 3 and 3 yrs. pen. ( conc.) and 5 yrs. p. d. for shopbreaking and attempted shopbreaking and being a h. c. Smashed the window with a stone wrapped in brown paper. Also forced a door with a jemmy. 264. William Downs, Case Xo. 44 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced as James Coxon at Glamorgan Ass., 15- 7- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for stealing bicycle ( 2 cases) and stealing clothing from the dressing room of a football club. 265. Charlie Mitchell, Case No. 45 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced as George Johnson at Oxford ( City) Pol. Ct., 19- 7- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for obtaining food by false pretences. Method as in original case. Nine other cases of a similar nature were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. James Besant, Case No. 366 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced as James Hughes at Westminster Pol. Ct. ( L.), 23- 7- 1927, to 4 mos. impt., under the Prevention of Crimes Act, for being a suspected person, loitering for the purpose of picking pockets. Arthur Graham, Case No. 36 ( Vol. V.) and George Rawson, C. R. O. No. S/ 33431, were convicted with him. George Frankish Dale, Case No. 20 ( Vol. X.), was, at Glasgow Sheriff Ct., 11- 7- 1927, certified insane and handed over to parish council, for theft by housebreaking. Jacob Keith Lincoln, Case No. 57 ( Vol. X.), was sentenced as John Simpson Mitchell at Edin- burgh High Ct., 15- 7- 1927, to 18 mos. impt. for fraud ( 7 cases). Posed as an author, etc. Method as in Case No. 478 ( Vol. XI.). Arthur Edwin Wood, Case No. 379 ( Vol. XI.), at Greenwich Pol. Ct., 19- 7- 1927, had his licence forfeited for failing to report change of address. Moses Kimberley, Case No. 375 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced as William Hollingsworth at Blackpool Pol. Ct., 4- 7- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for larceny— person. Charles Alfred Saxton, Case No. 420 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced at Portsmouth Sess., 9- 7- 1927, to 12 mos. impt. for stealing jewellery, etc., by means of housebreaking. Thomas Molloy, Thomas Fowler, William Alfred Gibb, George William Seymour and Stanley Francis Yates were convicted with him. Albert Henry Preen, Case No. 465 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced at Hants Sess., 12- 7- 1927, to 12 mos. impt. for obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences. Method as in ( ii) original case. 266. Charles Daniel Townsend Pepper, Case No. 53 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Charles Daniel Pepper at Northants Sess., 7- 7- 1927, to 12 mos. impt. and 3 yrs. pol. supn., for obtaining food by false pretences. Stated he was a Government surveyor sent to survey all land and property within a radius of 12 miles and required accommodation for about two months and that his luggage and instruments were arriving by train. Stayed two days and absconded. Jack Desmond, Case No. 126 ( Vol. XIII ), was sentenced as Cyril Leslie Edwards at Marl- borough Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 1- 7- 1927, to 4 mos. impt. for stealing a suit of clothes and money from his employer. 267. Thomas Britchford, Case No. 223 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Thomas Berbard Ford at West- minster Pol. Ct. ( L.), 3- 6- 1927, to 6 and 6 mos. impt. ( cons.) for obtaining money by false pretences ( 2 cases). Method as in original case. 268. Arthur Philips, Case No. 359 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced at Middlesex Sess., 9- 7- 1927, to 2 yrs. impt. for burglary and larceny. Gained access to dwelling house by climbing a fence, smashing a window at the rear and releasing the catch. Alfred Llewellyn, Case No. 128 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced at Peterborough Sess., 30- 6- 1927, to 5 yrs. pen. and . yrs. p. d. for obtaining money byfalse pretences and being a h. c. Method as in original case. Seven other cases of false pretences at Newport ( Mon.), Bristol, Gillingham. Watford, Rochester and Folkestone were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. LATEST INFORMATION. George Baldwin, Case No. 28 ( Vol. I.), was liberated on licence, 22- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. Thomas Pearce, Case No. 64 ( Vol. I.), Mas liberated, 25- 7- 1927. to Manchester. Percy Alexander Victor Knell, Case No. 127 ( Vol. III.), was liberated on licence, 27- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. Frank Greenhalgh, Case No. 3 ( Vol. IV.), was liberated on expiration of sentence. 22- 7- 1927, to Oldham. Ann Baxter, Case No. 408 ( Vol. VI.). was liberated. 18- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. Intended address: 254. Liverpool Road. Islington. Walter Harold Brasier. Case No. 275 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated on licence. 23- 7- 1927. into the M. P. D. William Seymour, Case No. 224 ( Vol. VIII.). was liberated. 20- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. William Stanley Reeves, Case No. 24 ( Vol. X.), was liberated on licence, 26- 7- 1927. to Devonport. Stephen Smith, Case No. 89 ( Vol. X.). was liberated on licence. 8- 7- 1927, to Bristol. Horace Barnicott, Case No. 172 ( Vol. X.). Arrived at Gravesend on deportation from (' aji& fc* 19- 7- 1927. v^^ P* Arthur Davidson, Case No. 377 ( Vol. X.). was liberated, 16- 7- 1927, to Birmingham. Ernest Dorking, Case No. 215 ( Vol. XI.), was liberated, 19- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 73, Westmoreland Place, City Road. John Webster, Case No. 200 ( Vol. XII.), was liberated 18- 7- 1927, to Manchester. Frederick Ernest Welch, Case No. 347 ( Vol. XII.), was liberated, 23- 7- 1927, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 32, Cadogan Street, Knightsbridge. Solomon Pareezer, Case No. 262 ( Vol. XII.), was liberated, 22- 7- 1927, to Birmingham. NOTE.— In the event of information being received of the DEATH of any criminal whose particulars have appeared in POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT A, the fact should be notified to C. R. O. As the latest information or subsequent conviction of criminals, whose particulars have been inserted in Supplement A, will appear in each issue at the end of the cases, the original numbers should be cross- referenced on printed lines provided for that purpose. SPECIAL NOTICE. When any person whose portrait and description have appeared in Supplement A is again arrested for any offence, and on account of being locally known the finger prints are not sent to C. R. O. for the purpose of search, it is requested that particulars of such conviction be sent to Criminal Record Office, as soon as possible in order that they may appear in an early issue of Supplement A for the information of all Forces.
