Douglas Campbell, Case No. 2 ( Vol. I.), was sentenced as Rex Campbell Rennie at Northamptonshire Ass., 28- 1- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. for forging and uttering share certificates. As managing director of a limited company he pretended to sell shares in the company to various persons, and issued forged share certificates. y ' Harry Pile, Case No. 252 ( Vol. I.), was sentenced as Harry Taylor at Salford ( City) Pol. Ct., 25- 1- 1927, to 3, 3 and 3 mos. impt. ( cons.), for obtaining money by false pretences ( 3 cases). Method as in original case. A case of failing to report at Liverpool was taken into consideration when sentence was passed. / I 52. Henry James Duggan, Case No. 301 ( Vol. I.), was sentenced as James Henry Edmond at Windsor ( Boro.) Sess., 4- 2- 1927, to 3, 3 and 3 yrs. pen. ( conc.), for larceny ( 3 cases). Method as in original case. One other case of a similar nature at Chertsev was also taken into consideration when sentence was passed. " George Murray, Cases Nos. 305 ( Vol. II.) and 13 ( Vol. XIV.), was sentenced as George Lister at C. L. S., 8- 2- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. for stealing cash and jewellery from bedroom in hotel and possessing housebreaking implements by night. A 53. u William Brown, Case No. 52 ( Vol. III.), was sentenced as William Browne at Croydon Q. Sess., ( L.), 27- 1- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for larceny ( trick). Ordered by telephone, a number of turkeys and other goods to be sent to a certain address, intercepted the messenger and secured the goods. ' Ernest Clements, C. R. O. No. 171- 1907, was concerned with him. 54. Francis Turner, Case No. 47 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced as Frank Turner at Exeter Ass., 3- 2- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. for receiving a suit of clothes, etc. J I Hugh Thomas, Case No. 211 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced as Hugh Vaughan Thomas, at South Molton Pol. Ct., 26- 1- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for attempted false pretences. Method as in original case. \ t 55. Edward O'Donnell, Case No. 320 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced as Edward Albert O'Donnell at Galway ( Circuit) Ct., 13- 1- 1927, to 2 yrs. impt. for obtaining money and credit by false pretences. Method as in original case. Posed as Captain O'Donnell and Major Brennan. v/ David John Edwards, Case No. 4 ( Vol. V.), was sentenced as David Edwards at Marlborough Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 7- 2- 1927, to 14 days impt. for begging. r George Williams, Case No. 55 ( Vol. V.), was sentenced as John Sharp at C. L. S., 8- 2- 1927, to 12 mos. impt. for being an incorrigible rogue ( attempting to pick pockets). Henry Davis, C. R. O. No. 1480- 1900, was convicted with him, and George Hickey, C. R. O. No. 7506- 1925, was concerned with him. v Frederick Wood, Case No. 39 ( Vol. VI.), was, as Frederick Treble, at North London Pol. Ct., 2- 2- 1927, bound over in own recognizance, £ 5 for 12 mos. for stealing a bicycle left unattended in the street. George Arthur Higgs, Case No. 110 ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced as Arthur Higgs at Wolver- hampton Pol. Ct., 4- 2- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for obtaining credit by fraud. Accompanied by his wife he stayed at hotel for several days and failed to pay his bill. v Maud Harrison, Case No. 495 ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced at Middlesex Sess., 7- 2- 1927, to 3yrs. V pen. and 7 yrs. p. d. for larceny ( 3 cases) and being a h. c. Method as in ( ii) original case. Seven other cases of a similar nature were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. s! Charles Sears, Case No. 294 ( Vol. VII.), was sentenced as William Sears at Marlborough Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 1- 2- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for stealing a bale of cloth from a railway van left temporarily unattended. J 56. William Hayward, Case No. 336 ( Vol. VII.), was sentenced at Tower Bridge Pol. Ct. ( L.), 31- 1- 1927, to 4 mos. impt. for stealing two motor rugs from a motor car left unattended in the street. ^ John Lawrence, Case No. 423 ( Vol. VII.), was sentenced at Middlesex Sess., 5- 2- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. and 7 yrs. p. d. for burglary ( 3 cases) and being a h. c. Method as in original case. 57. V Robert Lester, Case No. 57 ( Vol. VIII.), was sentenced at Marlborough Street Pol. Ct. ( L.), 8- 2- 1927, to 6 mos. impt. for stealing property from a van left unattended in street. / 58. George Fletcher, Case No. 377 ( Vol. VIII.), was sentenced as George Freeman at Wincanton Pol. Ct., 13- 1- 1927, to 14 days impt. for wilful damage. / 59. George Brown, Case No. 351 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced as John Edwards at North London Pol. Ct., 27- 1- 1927, to 12 mos. impt., under the Prevention of Crimes Act, for being a suspected person found on enclosed premises. ^ John Clarke, Case No. 148 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at West London Pol. Ct., 7- 2- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for being a suspected person, loitering. Henry Goody, C. R. O. No. 1499- 1897 ; and Bert Pearman, C. R. O. No. 1252- 1914, were convicted with him. J 60. Alexander Ashcroft, Case No. 263 ( Vol. XI), was sentenced as Leslie Baker at Middlesex Sess., 5- 2- 1927, to 15 and 15 mos. impt. ( conc.) for attempted shopbreaking and possessing housebreaking implements by night. Harry Harrison, Case No. 358 ( Vol. XIII.), was convicted with him. 61.^ Horace Topley, Case No. 292 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced as Horace Tapley at Manchester ( City) Sess., 7- 2- 1927, to 18 mos. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Carried on a bogus business under the style of " Motor Mechanics, Motor Drivers and Steam Lorry Drivers Association." Induced persons to pay sums of money as securities for positions as local secretaries ; also obtained subscriptions for membership with the Association by promising to find employment for members. J' Michael Thomas Brosnan, Case No. 335 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at Buncrana ( District) Ssss., 10- 2- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences. Method as in original case. • v/ 62. James Home, Case No. 395 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced as William Hunt at C. C. C., 8- 2- 1927, to 15 mos. impt. for burglary and larceny. Method as in original case. >/ George Henn, Case No. 379 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced as Albert Gillard at Walsall Pol. Ct., 10- 1- 1927, to 2 mos. impt. for loitering. n/ 63. John James Moran, Case No. 16 (\ ol. XIII.), was sentenced as Jack Moran at Bow Street Pol. C/ i. ( L.), 31- 1- 1927, to 3 mos. impt. for begging. 64. John William Tungate, Case No. 326 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced at C. L. S., 27- 1- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. for obtaining money by false pretences ( 3 cases). Method as in ( i) original case. Fifty- five other cases of a similar nature were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. Used the names of J. Ellis and J. Ha'Ala; d. y 65. Harry Harrison, Case No. 358 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Alexander Pearson at Middlesex Sess., 5- 2- 1927, to 20 and 20 mos. impt. ( conc.) for attempted shopbreaking and possessing housebreaking implements by night. Alexander Ashcroft, Case No. 263 ( Vol. XI.), was convicted with him. 66^ Harry Reeves, Case No. 421 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Harry Hayward at C. C. C., 10- 2- 1927, to 3 yrs. pen. and 6 yrs. p. d. for shopbreaking, causing grievous bodily harm and being a h. c. Method as in original case, except in this case he violently assaulted the police officer who arrested him. P. D. NOTE.— In the event of information being received of the DEATH of any criminal whose particulars have appeared in POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT A, the fact should be notified to C. R. O. As the latest information or subsequent conviction of criminals, whose particulars have b& en inserted in Supplement A, will appear in each issue at the end of the cases, the original numbers should be cross- referenced on the printed lines provided for that purpose. SPECIAL NOTICE. When any person whose portrait and description have appeared in Supplement A is agii^ arrested for any offence, and on account of being locally known the finger prints are not sent to C. R.
