Personal Weaknesses, Peculiarities, etc. : Walks quickly with short steps, and is addicted to drink. See Case No. 375 ( Vol. II.). The following persons who have already appeared in Supplement A have been re- convicted as follows— 410. Robert Parker, Cases Nos. 178 ( Vol. I.) and 67 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Frank Stanley Mitchell at Liverpool Ass., 28- 10- 1926, to 3 yrs. pen. for uttering a forged Bank of England note ( 2 cases). Purchased goods at a shop, tendered in payment a forged £ 10 note and received the change. 411. George Turner. Case No. 19 ( Vol. II.), was sentenced as Frank Wilson at Sheffield P. Sess., 12- 11- 1926, to 6 and 6 mos. impt. ( cons.) for attempting to obtain money by false pretences ( 2 cases). Advertised in the Press for persons to act as rent collectors, asked for sums of money to be paid as security. Samuel Lawrence, Case No'. 235 ( Vol. II.), was sentenced as George Rose at Sudbury P. Sess., 26- 10- 1926, to 6 and 2 mos. impt. ( conc.) for malicious damage to windows and furniture, and assault. 412. Frederick Evans, Case No. 361 ( Vol. II.), was sentenced at Clerkenwell Pol. Ct. ( L.), 4- 11- 1926, to 4 mos. impt. for receiving. Received a piano from Annie Hawthorne, C. R. O. No. 15428- 1919 ( convicted with him), who had obtained the same on the hire purchase system. 413. Percy Alexander Victor Knell, Case No. 127 ( Vol. III.), was sentenced as Percy Victor Knell at Middlesex Sess., 25- 9- 1926, to 4 yrs. pen. ( reduced to 12 mos. impt. by Court of Criminal Appeal) for stealing a motor rug, etc. Entered a garage and stole the property from a motor car. 414. Herbert Hartell, Case No. 89 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced as Robert Smith at Marylebone Pol. Ct. ( L.), 29- 10- 1926, to 6 mos. impt. for stealing a dressing case from compartment of train at railway station. William Marsden Clay, Case No. 250 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced at Aberdeen Sheriff Ct., 8- 11- 1926, to 12 mos. impt. for fraud ( 2 cases). Method as in original case. Isabella Marshall, Case No. 353 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced at Edinburgh High Ct., 5- 11- 1926, to 3 yrs. pen. for obtaining board and lodgings by fraud and theft. Method as in original case. Ernest Jones, Case No. 409 ( Vol. IV.), was sentenced at Tower Bridge Pol. Ct. ( L.), 6- 11- 1926, to 3 mos. impt. for stealing an overcoat from doorway of shop, and failing to report. Daisy Smith, Case No. 89 ( Vol. VI.), was, as Rose Walkington, at West Ham Pol. Ct. ( L.), 10- 11- 1926, bound over in £ 20 for 2 yrs. under probation for stealing a dress from inside shop. 415. James Douglas, Case No. 159 ( Vol. VI.), was sentenced at Slough Pol. Ct., 10- 11- 1926, to 3 mos. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Method as in original case. A case of false pretences at Waldridge was taken into consideration when sentence was passed. Used the name of James Douglas Gordon. 416. Horace Aston Jones, Case No. 157 ( Vol. VIII.), was sentenced at C. L. S.. 10- 11- 1926. to 21 mos. impt. for obtaining money by false pretences. Represented that relatives owned the Coleford Brick and Tile Co., Ltd., and that they were prepared to invest a sum of money in a company to secure him a situation. He thus obtained sums of money as expenses to visit his relatives. Five other cases of obtaining goods and credit from tradesmen and obtaining money by worthless cheque were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. Joseph Wilson, Case No. 105 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced at Bradford ( City) P. Sess., 19- 11- 1926, to 3 mos. impt. for loitering with intent. Leonard Marriott, Case No. 353 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced at C. C. C., 11- 11- 1926, to 4 yrs. pen. for ( 1) burglary, ( 2) being found in possession of housebreaking implements by night. Method as in original case. William Adams, Case No. 451 ( Vol. IX.), was sentenced at C. L. S., 9- 11- 1926, to 21 mos. impt. for attempted burglary. Obtained access to top floor of house and broke kitchen window. James Edward Bootman, Case No. 124 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced at Tottenham P. Sess. ( L.), 4- 11- 1926, to 6 mos. impt. for stealing cigarettes, etc., from a coffee stall. Frederick James Hall, C. R. O. No. 18236- 1916, was convicted with him. Kate Felix, Case No. 233 ( Vol. XI.), was sentenced as Kate Jones at Birmingham Pol. Ct., 17- 11- 1926, to 6 mos. impt. for larceny— shoplifting. 417. Alfred Shevill, Case No. 137 ( Vol. XII.), was sentenced as Thomas Elder at Rochester ( City) Sess., 11- 11- 1926, to 18 mos. impt. for burglary. Method as in original case. Eighteen other cases of burglary and housebreaking were taken into consideration when sentence was passed. 418. Thomas Francis Finucane, Case No. 13 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced as Thomas Francis Joseph Finucane at Liverpool ( City) Pol. Ct., 8- 11- 1926, to 3 and 3 mos. impt. ( conc.) for false pretences ( 2 cases). Posed as a Press representative, called on tradesmen'and stated that a description and class of goods sold by them was to be inserted in the newspapers. He thus induced them to supply him with samples of goods. Also stated he was connected with a well- known tobacco firm and could obtain cigarettes at less than wholesale price. 419. Robert Smith, Case No. 263 ( Vol. XIII ), was sentenced as George Whitehead at Lancaster Ass., 21- 10- 1926, to 7 yrs. pen. for shooting to evade arrest, garagebreaking and shopbreaking. Method in latter as in original case. 420. Harry Atkinson, Case No. 328 ( Vol. XIII.), was sentenced at Bradford City Pol. Ct., 10- 11- 1926, to 6 and 6 mos. impt. ( cons.) for false pretences ( 2 cases). Called at offices of merchants during lunch time, represented that the manager had ordered a bottle of cleaning mixture, and obtained money in each case. A case of false pretences at Halifax was taken into consideration when sentence was passed. LATEST INFORMATION. Ellen Barrington, Case No. 25 ( Vol. II.), was liberated, 25- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Arthur Bartlett. Case No. 322 ( Vol. II.), was liberated, 24- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 24. Crosby Road, Bermondsey. Ernest Douglas, Case No. 37 ( Vol. III.), was liberated, 18- 11- 1926, to Dorchester. William Ray, Case No. 155 ( Vol. III.), was liberated on licence, 19- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. George Gore, Case No. 261 ( Vol. III.), was liberated on licence, 12- 11- 1926. into the M. P. D. Francis Turner, Case No. 47 ( Vol. IV ), was liberated, 9- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Thomas McNeish, Case No. 93 ( Vol. IV.), was liberated, 8- 11- 1926, to Newcastle. William Jones, Case No. 339 ( Vol. IV ), was liberated, 18- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : Bruce House, Drurv Lane. Jane Davies, Case No. 388 ( Vol. IV.), was liberated, 28- 10- 1926, to Bootle. William Henry, Case No. 10 ( Vol. V.), was liberated, 13- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. James Shepherd, Case No. 21 ( Vol. V.), was liberated, 20- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 125, Elphinstone Road, Walthamstow. William Vincent French, Case No. 172 ( Vol. V.), was liberated, 8- 11- 1926, to Beddingham, Lewes. George Measures, Case No. 412 ( Vol. V.), was liberated on licence, 19- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Amy Maria Taylor, Case No. 122 ( Vol. VI.), died in hospital at Liverpool Prison 5- 11- 1926. Albert Crisp, Case No. 265 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated on licence, 12- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. George Malyon, Case No. 351 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated, 17- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 77, Winford Road, Islington. Thomas Nelson, Case No. 463 ( Vol. VI.), was liberated, 8- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 8, Wansey Street, Walworth. John Wilson, Case No. 21 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated, 19- 11- 1926, to Salford. Malcolm Allen Cruise, Case No. 115 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated, 18- 11- 1926, to Birmingham. Arthur Wishart, Case No. 140 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated on licence, 15- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Henry Highams, Case No. 195 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated, 20- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Ernest Allen, Case No. 232 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated, 19- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 66, King Henry's Walk, Balls Pond Road. Evelyn Ernest Preston, Case No. 311 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated, 17- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 12, Bernard Street, Russell Square. John Lawrence. Case No. 423 ( Vol. VII.), was liberated on licence, 20- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. John Walker. Case No. 491 ( Vol. VIII.), was liberated, 26- 11- 1926, to Birmingham. Alfred William Hicks. Case No. 34 ( Vol. XI.), was liberated, 17- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 19, King's Place, Buckhurst Hill. James Home, Case No. 395 ( Vol. XI.), was liberated, on licence, 22- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Arthur George, Case No. 29 ( Vol. XII.), was deported to this country from Canada, via the s. s. " Minnedosa," due to arrive at Southampton 26- 11- 1926. Thomas James Mayo, Case No. 315 ( Vol. XII.), was liberated, 14- 11- 1926, into the M. P. D. Intended address : 15, Grosvenor Road, Highbury. NOTE.— In the event of information being received of the DEATH of any criminal whose particulars have appeared in POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT A, the fact should be notified to C. R. O. As the latest information or subsequent conviction of criminals, whose particulars have been inserted in Supplement A, will appear in each issue at the end of the cases, the original numbers should be cross- referenced on the printed lines provided for that purpose. SPECIAL NOTICE. When any person whose portrait and description have appeared in Supplement A is again arrested for any offence, and on account of being locally known the finger prints are not sent to C. R. O. for the purpose of search, it is requested that particulars of such conviction be sent to Criminal Record Office as soon as possible in order that they may appear in an early issue of Supplement A, for the information of all forces.
