BERKSHIRE. 2.— Windsor ( Boro.).— For fraud ( worthless eheque).— Rebecca Sedley, alias M. Sedley, b. 1866, 5ft. 4in., stout build, h. grey, shuffling gait ; dress, grey costume, black coat, small black hat, carried umbrella and suede handbag. Called on local tradesman, ordered goods value 17s., and tendered in payment cheque for £ 20, on Midland Bank, Ealing ( L.), purporting to be drawn in her favour, by Fanny H. K. Teasdale ( her sister, who resides at Leicester), and received cash. The cheque was later returned marked No account. Identical with Rebecca Sedley, Case No. 6, 10- 2- 26. Warrant issued. A miner ; native of Castleford. Called at the British Legion Club, Clown, stated that he was a member of the Gainsborough branch, and was anxious to find work locally. Stated his wife and children were in the Union, and asked for loan, sufficient to pay for week's board. Work was obtained for him, but he failed to appear, and absconded from his lodgings, ' above date, the watch being sub- sequently missed. Also wanted at Pontefract for larceny ( trick). Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Andrew, Renishaw. KENT. 5.— Dartford ( Co.).— For stealing at Stone, 17th inst., £ 1.- Charles Albert Roper, b. 1894, 5ft. 8 or 9in., c. fair, h. dk. brown, e. C., Manchester. 7.— Old Trafford ( Co.).— For robbery with violence at Stretford, 15th inst.— A Man, b. 1891 to 1896, 5ft. 6in., medium build, c. pale, unshaven ; dress, navy blue overcoat, It. grey cap, muffler, boots. Approached a woman from behind, put his arm around her neck, pulled her to the ground and put his other hand up her clothing. Com plainant screamed and man snatched her handbag ( recovered) and ran away. Inf. to Supt. Yates, Old Trafford. 8.— Salford ( Boro.).— Case No. 74, 22- 5- 25, cancelled.— John Adamson not now wanted. Warrant withdrawn. 9.— Wigan ( Co.).— For attempted shopbreaking ( breaking back window near catch), at Bamfurlong. — A Man, b. 1896 to 1901, 5ft. 4 or 5in., c. sallow, h. dk., clean shaven ; dress, It. raincoat, fawn Trilby hat, boots. Left behind : blue mixture cap, brown composition attache- case ( 14 x 9in., containing grey Army shirt, soap, toothbrush, etc.). Two Men, who gave names of J. Booth and J. Stretton, stayed at local lodging house from 10th to 16th inst., and were then in possession of attache- case similar to above. Stretton was dressed similar to the wanted man. Booth is described as b. about 1894, 5ft. 6 or 7in., c. sallow, h. dk. brown, clean shaven ; dress, brown jacket and vest, grey trousers, dk. overcoat, cap ( similar to that left behind), boots. KENT. 100.— West Mailing ( Co.).— About 8.15 p. m., 21st inst., a small open touring car, believed a Trojan, was travelling in the direction of London, and when near West Mailing knocked down a woman who is suffering from severe scalp wounds and concussion. The car did not pull up, and the nearside lamp was broken off near the bracket, a spot of blood still remaining on the bulb. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. 127.— Mansfield ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 6 by false pretences ( worthless cheque).— A Man, who gave name of Joseph Holt, b. 1886, 5ft. 5 or 6in., c. sallow, h. believed dk., small nose, clean shaven : dress, navy blue coat with velvet collar, dk. trousers, bowler hat, fawn spats, boots. In possession of fawn overcoat and a blue overcoat. Carried a small Gladstone bag. Called at shop, ordered a tea service to be sent to an address ( false), and presented cheque, No. 30/ L 07940. for £ 10 10s., on Barclay's Bank, Ltd., Hull, dated 14th Feb., 1926, made payable to Joseph Holt and signed W. G. Watson, and received £ 6 change. The cheque is from a book stolen at Hull, 12th January last. Cheques from this book have been presented at Leicester, Coventry, Grantham, Melton Mowbray and Burton- on- Trent. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Neate, Mansfield. SURREY. 129.— Dorking ( Co.).— For obtaining drapery goods ( mourning) by false pretences, and also £ 4 from her employer.— Constance Levy, b. about 1876, 5ft. 9in., slim build, h. dk., e. It. brown ( conspicuous), very thin face. A laundress. Gained confidence of shopkeepers, employer and landlady and on 12th inst. obtained mourning value £ 8 on pretence that her mother had died at Southampton, and would pay when she had drawn insurance money. Obtained £ 4 from her employer by saying her sister was dead and wanted the money for her fare to Southampton for the funeral. Stated she had some furniture at a local dealer's and he was selling it for her ( false). May obtain work at laundry. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Tampling, Dorking
