A servant ; native of Ipswich. Pre. con. of fraud, obtaining credit by fraud and larceny at DORKING, WANTAGE, OXTED, BEACONS- FIELD ( Lily Willoughby) and on D, R, T and V. Called on loser, said she was a housemaid and had been sent by her employer to visit his daughter at local hospital and had left her dressing- case at hospital ( false). DERBYSHIRE. 6.— Derby ( Co.).— For obtaining 5s. by false pretences, at Duffield, 4th inst., and £ 1, at Belper, 4th inst.— A Man, who gave name of Hamilton, b. 1892 to 1896, 5ft. 4in., medium build, c. fresh, h. It. brown, prominent upper teeth ( bad), Midland accent ; dress, dk. grey overcoat, grev cap, blue trousers, soft collar, dk. tie, heavy boots. Called on losers, who are members of Church of England Mens' Society, said he was also interested in the work of the Society, produced a Bible and a branch syllabus of above Society's branch at Napperley, where he said he had lectured ( false). Stated he was employed by Lever Bros., Soap Manufacturers, inspecting advertisements in the district, that he had lost his wallet and money, asked for an advance, and received above amounts. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Wilson, Derby. WICK, OSWESTRY, SHREWSBURY ( Lilian Jessie Clarke), BRECON ( Lilian Clarke) and CARDIFF ( Lilian Jessie Clark). Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Cardiff. 8. — Pontypridd ( Co.). — For embezzling £ 46 10s. Id.— Timothy John Chillcott, b. 1891, 5ft. 8 or 9in., h. dk., long features, scar 1. of chin, wore gold rimmed spectacles with thick lens ; dress, navy blue suit, brown nap overcoat, fawn Trilby hat, boots. Was employed as district manager for the Royal Co- operative Collecting Society at Porth. Absconded 27th ult. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Rees, Pontypridd. Has been employed as butler in London, and may seek similar employ- ment, or employment as hotel boots. This man is also an important witness in a case of shooting at and wounding two Constables. Took the purse from handbag left under pillow of chair occupied by an invalid child and left unattended. Inf. to Supt. Yates, Old Trafford. 16.— Old Trafford ( Co.).— For robbery with violence, 12 th inst., at Prestwich.— A Man, b. 1886 to 1891, 5ft. 8 or 9in., slim buikl,; dress, dk. coat and trousers, It. cap. Jumped out of hedge at roadside, attacked a woman who was walking home, grasped her by throat and demanded money. The woman struggled, but gave the man her purse, and he then jumped over a gate and decamped across the fields. Inf. to Supt. Yates, Old Trafford 17.— Salford ( Boro.).— For stealing ( confidence trick) £ 16, 4th inst.— Two Men: 1st, b. 1891, 5ft. 6in., c. fresh, clean shaven ; dress, blue suit, Trilby hat, boots. Wore gold ring 4th rt. finger.- 2nd, b. 1876, 5ft. 9in., c. sallow, clean shaven ; dress, blue suit, small check overcoat, fawn Trilby hat, boots. Complainant was leaving Victoria Station, Manchester, when he was accosted by the man described as No. 1, who said he had come from Doncaster and knew result of a horse race and had to put some money on it for his employer. Loser then accompanied the man to Salford, where they met the second described man, No. 1 suggesting to loser that he should ask No. 2 the commission agent's address. The three then proceeded short distance, No. 1 repeating his story about the horse race, No. 2 saying he would put £ 3 on. No. 1 accepted, then went away, returning after a few minutes with £ 9. No. 2 went away saying he was going to get some more money, while No. 1 induced loser to hand over £ 16, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Salford. 18 — Seaforth ( Co.).— For stealing from gas meter at Litherland, 13th inst.— A Man, b. 1876, 5ft. 5in., medium build, h. and moustache grey ; dress, grey suit, grey overcoat, grey cap, boots. Called on loser saying he had a message from her husband, and as she was not in said he would wait. Was left alone in room where gas meter was situated and after his departure the meter was found to have been forced and contents stolen. Inf. to Supt. Shearman, Seaforth.
