METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT. 1.— Criminal Record Office.- Attention of all Forces is drawn to ARTHUR GEORGE GORDON KITCHING, aliases Arthur Dasmond, Arthur George Kitching and Arkwright, C. R. O. No. 24139- 20, b. 1896, 5ft. 6in„ c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. brown, scar under 1., clean shaven ; dress, blue serge suit, It. grey overcoat, brown Trilby hat, black boots. A bookmaker ; native of Bristol. Pre. con. of forgery, attempted burglary, larceny, receiving and a minor offence on A, C, D, F and W. This man calls at off- licences, orders wines and spirits to be sent to a local resident, tenders cheque for a greater amount than the order and obtains balance in cash. He has passed cheques on the National Provincial Bank, 153, Sloane Street, London, National Provincial Bank, Bedminster, Bristol, and the National Bank of India, 20, Bishops- gate, London, in London and the provinces. It is requested that off- licencees be informed of the method adopted by this man and that he be detained should he attempt similar offences. Inf. to C. R. O. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT— continued. asked to furnish guarantee and given an authority for signature. Returned the authority, purport- ing to be signed by the guarantor, later discovered to be a forgery. Was handed £ 50, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. BEDFORDSHIRE. 3.— Biggleswade ( Co.).— For obtaining slates and red bricks by false pretences.— G. Smith, aliases Smithson and Martin Moore, b. 1886, 5ft. 7 or 8in., c. ruddy, clean shaven, Scotch accent ; dress, dk. grey suit and cap. Called on firm of builders' merchants, falsely represented he was engaged on local job for a builder in neigh- bouring town and ordered a quantity of slates. The slates were carted and he told the carman to take them to a builder's yard. It was later found he had sold the slates, saying they were left over. Appears indentical with W. GLOUCESTERSHIRE . 100.— Cheltenham ( Co.).— For fraudulent con- version.— John Cuthbert Wallace Jennings, b. 1892, 6ft. lin , well built, c. fresh ( freckled), h. and small moustache fair ; dress, brown suit, brown Trilby hat or cap, soft collar, claret, blue and gold tie, scarf same colour, brown shoes, blue trench coat. In possession of 2 suit cases ( 1 brown ; 1 green, in poor condition, M. M. thereon). Native of Gloucester. Was employed as a clerk by Gloucestershire C. C. until 31st ult., and was engaged on Trunk Roads Re- construction Scheme. It has since been ascertained that he has converted considerable sums of money to his own use, which he had drawn for the purpose of paying other employees. Well versed in wireless matters, and may seek employment in this direction. j] 1| Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. C., Oldham. 102.— Seaforth ( Co.). - For highway robbery with violence, at Hightown, 3rd inst.— A Man, b. 1902, 5ft. 4in., well built, c. fresh, e. dk., clean shaven, broad shouldered, good teeth ( tobacco stained), Liverpool accent ; dress, navy blue suit ( well worn), brownish cap. Set upon a young woman on the seashore, struck her on head with stick, causing it to bleed, and flung her to the ground demanding her money. She gave him her purse ( an old blue one), containing about £ 2, and he then decamped. Inf. to Supt. Sharman, Seaforth. YORKSHIRE ( WEST RIDING). 103 — Sheffield ( City).- For stealing ( servant) on or about 23rd ult,, gold ring, chased ; pair of spectacles ; and £ 6 10s.— Lily Wood, b. 1886, 5ft,, thin build, c. sallow, h. dk., e. small and sunken, hairy mole believed rt. cheek, speaks slowly; dress, brown mixture coat, dk. skirt with large buttons down sides, black close fitting hat. Native of ( believed) Chesterfield. Was engaged by loser 7th ult. at a registry office, and on 23rd ult. loser went out leaving his invalid wife and Wood in the house. On his return he found she had absconded and the above property was missed from a dressing table. Will probably seek work as domestic or housekeeper, or may be found at lodgi? ig house.
