BERKSHIRE. 5.— Windsor ( Boro.).— For stealing gent's Rudge- Whitworth bicycle, No. 787782, 24in. frame, 2 roller lever brakes, back brake broken at the head and brake blocks missing, black hubs and cranks, black handle- bars, Warwick tyres, black oil lamp and black pump attached, Rudge- Whitworth transfer on head and down bar.— Robert McWilliams, b. 1886, 5ft. 9in., medium build, c. fresh, h. and e. dk., clean shaven, thin face ; dress, blue suit with white pin stripe, greenish double- breasted overcoat ( half belt at back), blue tie with white stripes, soft collar, bowler hat, boots ( plain toes). HERTFORDSHIRE . 7.— St. Albans ( City).— For obtaining £ 4, by false pretences, 30th ult.— Cecil Macdonagh Duncan, aliases W. R. Archer and W. Archer, C. R. O. No. 20404- 23, Case No. 82, 24- 8 25, b. 1895, 5ft. 5fin., stout build, c. fresh, h. It. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, stoops ; dress, dk. overcoat, grey felt or bowler hat, grey spats. A commercial traveller ; native of Belfast. Pre. con. of fraud and attempted fiaud at PORTSMOUTH and NORTHAMPTON. Called at a college and represented he was travelling for the Express Publicity Company, Birmingham and Reading ( false). Obtained an order to advertise the college in a Midland District Time Table, and received above amount. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., St. Albans. 8.— St. Albans ( City).— For obtaining money by false pretences ( worthless cheque— 2 cases), 5th inst.— A Man, b. 1886 to 1896, 5ft. 5 or 6in., medium build, clean shaven, well spoken ; dress, dk. overcoat, grey Trilby hat.— A Woman, b. 1886 to 1896, 5ft. 3 or 4in., face powdered ; dress, black fur coat, toque ( well over eyes), carried stumpy umbrella. The man called at houses and said he had been sent to collect tradesman account book, as there was an error which had to be rectified. Was handed book which he promised to return same day. About half- hour later woman entered the tradesman's shop, presented the book with a cheque on National Provincial Bank, Bedminster, Bristol, made payable to the customer. Later the cheques were found to be worthless. Warrant issued. LANCASHIRE. 10.— Blackburn ( Co.).— For housebreaking ( 2 cases) ( smashing scullerv window at catch), at Ribchester.— A Man, b. 1886 to 1888, 5ft. 6in., medium build, unshaved, full face, Lancashire accent; dress, dk. overcoat, dk. greasy trousers, cap and boots. A tramp. In possession of a small haversack made from old sacking drawn together with string, containing an old shirt, several pairs old socks, 2 workman's tea cans or kits. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE . 14.— Nottingham ( City).— For obtaining credit by fraud, between 9th and 13th November, 1925. — George Miller, b. 1886, 5ft. 8 or 9in., stiff build, c. and h. fair, e. blue, clean shaven, large nose, prominent chin; dress, dk. brown overcoat, bowler hat, linen collar, black tie, wore It. brown gloves, respectable appearance. Rented a stable, and posed as a warehouseman for market salesmen. Communicated with firms throughout the country asking for catalogues and price lists, and on receipt of same despatched orders for hosiery, drapery, etc. Immediately disposed of goods received and sent worthless cheques in payment. Occupied the premises for 3 weeks and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Nottingham.
