FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12. 1! » ' 24 VOL XI Convicts on Licence, Persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for Jailing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked * are Licence Holders and should produco their licences The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say vide Sec. 5, Sub- Sec. 1, 7 & 21 Vict., Cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees. C. R. Sentenced at Surrey Ass., 2- 12- 19, to 3 yrs. pen. for burglary ( 2 cases) and larceny. Sub- sequently sentenced at Hants Ass., 11- 11- 22, to 18 mos. impt. for housebreaking. Liberated on second licence ( which expires 1- 11- 24), 28- 8- 24, into the M. P. D. Failed to report on liberation. Pre. con. of larceny and burglary. DOVER ( BORO.). 243.—* Thomas Egan, aliases Thomas Sheathers Long, Thomas Shevel Egan, Thomas Smith, Known to police at ALDERSHOT, GOD- ALMING and WOKING. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 63 ( Vol. IX.). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place. Thomas Long, Thomas Shevell Egan and Thomas Shivel Egan, C. R. O. No. 1335- 12, b. 1890, 5ft. 6in., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. grey, LOVE, pierced heart, STONE, etc., rt., ship, clasped hands, etc., 1. forearm. A builder or seaman ; native of Sandwich, Kent. LAND, YORK, GATESHEAD, DURHAM and NORTH SHIELDS. Pre. con. of larceny, cyclestealing, fowlstealing and housebreaking. Warrant issued. Known to police at AIRDRIE, DOVER, WINGHAM, GOSPORT, GRAYS, PORTS MOUTH and WINCHESTER. Inf. to the C. C., Leeds. Arrest also sought for larceny, vide Case No. 134, Police Gazette, 20- 8- 24. EDINBURGH ( CITY). 245.—* Percy Hamilton, abases Percy Milnwood McNeil Hamilton, Peter Millon, Percy McNeill Hamilton, Arthur Armstrong, Percy Milne McNeill Hamilton and Milton, C. R. O. No. 1425- 03, b. 1879, 5ft. 11 Jin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown ( turning grey), e. grey, woman and shell, lion in red and blue, etc., rt. forearm. A seaman and joiner ; native of Larkhall, Lanarkshire. Sentenced at Edinburgh High Ct.. 17- 3- 19, to 7 yrs. pen., for larceny. Liberated on licence, 24- 6- 24, to Edinburgh. Failed to report. Pre. con. of larceny, cyclestealing, fraud, house- breaking and being a h. c. Inf. to the C. C., Dover. LEEDS ( CITY). 244.—* William Thompson, aliases Herbert Lind- ley, John Lawson and James William Hill, C. R. O. No. 1530- 14, b. 1892, 5ft. 5 Jin., c. fresh, h. auburn, e. blue, 1. ear frost bitten. A baker ; native of Leeds. Known to police at GLASGOW, OBAN, EDINBURGH, DURHAM, HAMILTON and on C, E, T and V. Sentenced at Northumberland Ass., 20- 2- 22, lim, " ra, ing- Liberated on ete- see case 294' sui> i>, ement Failed to report. Pre. con. of cyclestealing, larceny and horse- stealing. EDINBURGH. 246.— For failing to comply with the conditions of h s licence, which has been revoked.— William Mullen, C. R. O. No. 14441- 24, b. 1902, 5ft. 3in„ c. fresh, h. fair, e. blue. Sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Ct., Sec. 31, 20- 3- 22, to 3 yrs. detention in a B. I. for theft by housebreaking ( 3 cases). Liberated on licence, 29- 7- 24, from Polmont Institution. Absconded 16- 8- 24. Known to police at GLASGOW. Inf. to the Prison Commissioners for Scotland, Edinburgh. Apprehensions. 247.— Charles Herbert Wyatt, C. R. O. No. 4235- 21, 248 — George Stokell, C. R. O. No. 357- 03, Case Case No. 38 ( Vol. XI.), at Scarborough, 3- 9- 24. No. 58 ( Vol. XI.), at Stockton- on- Tees, charged as George Williams with burglary.
