Chester ( City).—- For obtaining £ 1 and 10s. by false pretences ( worthless cheque).— A Man, who gave name of 0. L. Saunders, b. 1889 to 1894, 5ft. 7in., c. and h. fair, clean shaven, well educated, speaks a great deal of West Africa ; dress, It. suit, overcoat, cap ; carried haversack. Obtained lodgings for a week and left without paying. Made the acquaintance of local trades- men,. to whom he tendered cheques on Cox's Bank, Nos. L. 120384 and 120385, and induced them to cash same. The cheques were later returned marked No Account. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Chester. 7.— Stockport ( Boro.).— Jack Wilson, C. R. O. ESSEX. 8.— Rochford ( Co.).— For stealing from golf club ( walk in), 14th inst., Ingersoll Waterburv metal watch, with 15ct. albert attached ; silver cigarette- case; and grey Homburg hat, with blue lining.— A Man, who gave name of Eric Mason, b. 1894 to 1899, 5ft. 7in., medium build, c. fair, believed clean shaven, well spoken ; dress, navy blue jacket with patch pockets, plus fours, jazz cardigan, and believed grey Trilby hat. The gold albert and silver cigarette- case were subsequently recovered from a pawnshop. Also visited Thorpe Bay Golf Club, where he stated he wa^ a member of the Oxhey and Moor Park Golf Clubs, and after his departure 3 golf clubs were missed. Inf. to Insp. Whiting, Rochford. C., Bristol. 10.— Gloucester ( Co.).— For stealing ( bailee) gold watch ( recovered).— John Jackson, aliases Bat- tersey and Driver, b. 1864 to 1869, 5ft. 9 or 10in., dk. moustache ( turning grey); dress, navy blue coat and waistcoat, blue trousers, soft collar, tie, brown Trilby hat, boots ( plain fronts). Stated he was watch repairer, gained publican's confidence, and on latter's recommendation was given several watches to repair and which he duly returned. In possession of Army papers and may be in possession of pedlar's certificate, issued at Huntingdon, January, 1924, to Samuel Wright, and insurance card in same name. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Gale, St. Ives. LANCASHIRE. X 12.— Burnley ( Boro.).— For obtaining 10s. by false pretences. George Dickinson, b. 1904, 5ft. 7in., medium build, h. dk. brown, cleanshaven, sUghtly bow- legged ; dress, dk. grey coat and vest, whipcord riding breeches, dirty grey cap, brown leggings, heavy boots. A painter or farm labourer. Was employed by loser to decorate house, obtained above amount on pretence of buying some varnish and absconded. After he had gone the following articles were missed from a bedroom where he had been working : gent's 18et. double curb albert ; spade ace guinea, dated 1780 or 1790, hole therein; gent's 18ct, double shaft snake ring, set 4 diamonds ( 1 missing).
