CONFIDENTIAL Supplement B THE POLICE GAZETTE No. 5. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 1924. VOL. XI. Convicts on licence. Persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked • are Licence Holders and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say vtde Sec. 6, Sub- Sec. 1, 7 & 21 Vict., Cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show tome reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled throngh in red ink, without defacing the portrait Licence Holders and Supervisees. C. R. Sentenced at Hants Sess., 5- 4- 21, to 3 yrs. pen., for housebreaking. Liberated on licence, 17- 7- 23, to Chatham. Reported at Plympton, 27- 12- 23, his intention of proceeding to Devonport. Nothing has been heard of him since. Appears to be tramping the country. Pre. con. of housebreaking, larceny and minor offences. Known to police at MIDHURST, CHRIST- CHURCH and on V. For portrait, see Case No. 212 ( Vol. X.). May be dealt with where found if there is evidence of an offence against the Prevention of Crimes Act in such place. Apprehension Sought on Revocation of Licence. C. R. O. 36.— For fading to comply with the conditions of her licence, which has been revoked.— Annie Lancaster, aliases Fanny Smith, Fanny Long, Fanny Lancaster, Annie Williams and Annie Dyer, C. R. O. No. 1580- 06, b. 1871, 5ft. 6$ in., c. dk., h. ( turning grey) and e. brown. A laundress ; native of London. Sentenced at Berks Ass., 16- 10- 20, to 3 yrs. pen. and 6 yrs. p. d., for obtaining money by false pretences and being a h. c. Liberated on p. d. licence, 2- 1- 24, to Liverpool. Pre. con. of false pretences and larceny. Known to police at WINDSOR, REIGATE, DARTFORD, BEDFORD and on B, F, P, S, V, W, X and Y. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 351, Supplement A ( Vol. IV.). Liberated on second licence, 30- 11- 23, to Glasgow. Absconded, 19- 1- 24, from his approved address. Pre. con of theft. Known to police at ABERDEEN and EDIN- BURGH. EDINBURGH. 38.— For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence which has been revoked.— Charles Herbert Wyatt, aliases Charles Wyatt and Reginald Games, C. R. O. No. 4235- 21, b. 1902, 5ft. llin., c. fresh, h. and < brown, scar each eyebrow, blue mark 1. cheek, horseshoe and C. Wyatt 1. forearm. A ship's steward ; native of London. Sentenced at Edinburgh Sheriff Ct,, 4- 11- 21, to 3 yrs. detention in a B. I., for larceny. Liberated on licence, 29- 6- 23, from Borstal Section, Edinburgh Prison. Absconded from the s. s. '' Kara," at Dundee, 19- 1- 24. Pre. con. of larceny and minor offence. Known to police at LIVERPOOL, GLOU- CESTER ( City) and EDINBURGH. Inf. to the Prison Commissioners for Scotland, Edinburgh. No. 20543- 20, b. 1903, 5ft, 2in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey. A farm worker ; native of Old Comelock, Ayrshire. Sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Summary Ct., 12- 10- 20, to 3 yrs. detention in a B. I., for theft of suit- case from railway station. Liberated on second licence, 13- 8- 23, from Jessiefield Institution, Dumfries. Absconded from Summerfield, Dumfries, 19- 1- 24, after committing theft. Known to police at GLASGOW. Inf. to the Prison Commissioners for Scotland, Edinburgh. Friday, February 1, 1924. POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT B. Apprehensions. 40.— Joseph Watt, C. E. O. No. 24511- 20, Case No. 317 ( Vol. VII.), is in custody at Ware, charged with malicious damage. 41. - Frank Rowley, C. R. O. No. 14843- 15, Case No. 256 ( Vol. X.), and sentenced at Hull Sess., 23- 1- 24, to 5 yrs. pen. ( conc.), for housebreaking ( 3 cases). 42.— Lily Barton, C. R. O. No. 15319- 20, Case No. 272 ( Vol. X ), in custody on B, charged with soliciting prostitution. 43.— Albert Edward I'Anson, C. R. O. No. 62- 12, Case No. 287 ( Vol. X.), is remanded at Leeds City), till 4- 2- 24, charged with larceny. 44 — Thomas Leigh, C. R. O. No. 2067- 97, Case No. 5 ( Vol. XI.), in custody on Y, charged with larceny. 45.— James Hodgetts, C. R. O. No. 10379- 18, Case No. 16 ( Vol. XI.). 46.— Frederick Edward Edwards, C. R. O. No. 10- 18, Case No. 22 ( Vol. XI.), is remanded at Leeds ( City), till 1- 2- 24, charged as Herbert Edward Wilson, with loitering. Memorandum. Frederick Samuel Davies, C. R. O. No. 310- 14, Case No. 195 ( Vol. X.), was sentenced to 1 mo. impt., not 7 days impt. as shown in Case No. 318 ( Vol. X.).
