CUMBERLAND AND WESTMORLAND 109.- Kendal ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 2 Is. 9d. by false pretences, at Windermere, 25- 5- 23.— John Martin Collins, aliases Martin Collins, John David Mitchell, Jack Clarke, J. H. Johnson, J. C. Marks, . J. M. Canton, J. A. Felstead, Isidore M. Cohen and Martin John Edwards, C. R. O. No. 16780- 21, I). IH72, 5ft, din., e. fresh, h. brown ( turning grey), e. blue, clean shaven, wears glasses, very talkative, good address ; dress, fawn raincoat, blue suit and bowler hat, carried fibre suit- case, 30in. x 18in., containing samples of glass, cutlery, pipes, combs and cigarette- holders. An agent; native of Tasmania. Pre. con. of fraud and larceny ( trick) at FARNHAM ( John Martin Collins) and BRAMPTON ( John M. Collins). Has also con. for fraud and forgery in AUSTRALIA and" NEW ZEALAND. Stated he was agent for Home and Colonial Stores, Stafford ( false), booked orders for glass and crockery and collected money in advance. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Dewhurst, Kendal. DERBYSHIRE. 110.— Bakewell ( Co.).— For obtaining three sums of money by false pretences at Matlock and Mat- lock Bath, between 30th ult. and 2nd inst.— A Man who gave name of E. A. Root, b. 1883 to 1888, 5ft. 7in., medium build, c. sallow, h. fair, slight impediment in speech ; dress, brown rough tweed suit, fawn velour hat, carries shabby brown attache- case containing samples of mops. Called on losers and stated he was an agent for the Twirlie Inventions, Ltd., Southampton House, 62, South- ampton- row, London, W. C. I, which firm engaged ex- service men and was taking orders for patent mops and polishes. Exhibited sample mop, which he carried in attache- case, and demonstrated its uses. Was given orders and cash in advance, for which he gave printed receipt. Also wanted for similar offence at Littleover. Js identical with man who gave name of G. Thompson, Case No. 4, 5- 1- 23. Warrant, issued. Inf. to Supt, Campbell, Bakewell. ESSEX. 111.- Brentwood ( Co.).— For stealing from a tin clothes box, 2ft. by 1ft. Oin., containing £ 1, Post Office Savings Bank book in name of W. G. Pritchard, 42, Maidstone- road, Lowestoft; gent's brown suit, Stewart on tab ; 4 shirts ( 2 white ; I white with black stripe ; I green with white stripe) ; 6 soft collars with mauve stripe ; pair gent's brown boots, size 7, rubber heels ; silver watch, glass broken ; 9ct, chain bracelet ; Swan fountain pen ; 2 safety razors, makers Auto and Climax ; pair grey flannel trousers ; grey tweed waistcoat; silver watch chain ; pair of new brown tweed trousers with green stripe.— Joseph Fuller, alias Miller, b. 1903, 5ft. 4 or 5in., h. ginger ( cut short), full round face, clean shaven ; dress, blue suit, brown trilby hat ( broad rim), wearing striped wrapper, brown boots. Has been employed with travelling roundabout for 5 or 6 weeks. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Boyce, Brentwood. LANCASHIRE. 112.— Fleetwood ( Co.).— For obtaining by false pretences, 2 gent's blue serge suits, 2 buttons on each coat, ordinary pockets, trousers with perma- nent turn- ups ( 1 pair f- lined, other pair without lining).- A Man, b. 1898 or 1899, 5ft, 5in., slim build, c. sallow, h. dk. brown, clean shaven; dress, blue herringbone pattern serge suit, soft collar, tie, black shoes. Called on loser, said he had been sent by local doctor who had burnt his clothing whilst performing an operation and required another suit, as he, the doctor, had received an urgent call to another case and asked for the suits on approval ( false). Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Crapper, Fleetwood. MIDLOTHIAN. 113.— Edinburgh ( City).— For obtaining £ 5 piece by'fraud ( worthless cheque), 28th ult.— George Warren, aliases Stuart Ellis. George Ellis Stuart and George Watson, C. R. O. No. 1340- 14, Case No. 200. Supplement A ( Vol. II.), b. 1888, 5ft. 5| in., medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, scar over rt. eye and under rt. jaw, woman, clasped hands, heart, Lily and butterfly rt., woman's head and bird I. forearm ; dress, It. grey suit, bowler hat. An electrician ; native of Nova Scotia. Pre. con. of fraud, larceny, cyclestealing and bigamy at STOCKTON- ON- TEES ( George 15 THE POLICE GAZETTE. We dnesday, July 25, 1923. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT— continued. ( Harold St. Clair), DONCASTER ( Bert Kaugh- man), NEWCASTLE ( George Smart), GOOLE ( George Ellis), CARDIFF ( George Stuart Ellis)' and on F. Has also eons, for attempted fraud, fraud and minor offences at COLOGNE ( Germany) and DOUAI ( France). Purchased the property at a sale room. Is in possession of Home Office passport in name of G. Ellis. Re presented himself as a mem her of Secret Service at General Head- « quarters, Cologne. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C.. Edinburgh. O. B., figures not known. The Revenue Licence expired 30th June, 1923, and was for £ 4 16s. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Walsall. SUSSEX ( EAST). 115.— East Grinstead ( Co.).— For stealing gent's gold watch, English lever, Waltham make, No. 7669 ; and gent's gold chain. Percy Course, b. 1890. 5ft. 9in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. blue, clean shaven, gunshot wounds both legs, Percy on 1. arm ; dress, grey suit, patent button boots. Was employed as odd man. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Edgeler, East Grinstead. STAFFORDSHIRE. 114.- Walsall ( Boro.).— For stealing ( trick) £ 9, 29th ult. A Woman who gave tvafhc of Mrs. Black, b. about 1878, 5ft, 2 or 3in., thin build and features, h. ( Ik. ; dress, small close fitting hat, maroon woollen sports coat with It. border, black skirt and black apron. On the 29th June the above described woman in company of another— b. about 1878, 5ft. 2 or 3in., well built, c. very pale, h. ( Ik., full face ; dress, black costume ( rather tight fitting, three- quarter length), rather large black hat with large black feather across front, and black shoes— entered public- house and got into conversation with wife of licensee and stated 1 hey were of a party of 30 show people who had assembled in field at back of public- house for purpose of renovating their vans in time for the Wakes. They asked loser if she could supply them with beer for about 10 weeks, and on loser agreeing to do so, an arrangement was made to pay £ 10 deposit. Both women produced a number of II Treasury notes and placed them on table. After further conversation they give an o.' der for beer and spirits to value of £ 47 12s. to be supplied for wedding which was to take place amongst them. They asked loser to purchase skin rug for giving the order, and one woman ( Mrs. Black) left the house, returning in a minute or two with three, loser purchasing one for £ 10 15s. The women then counted money on table and found that they had not got sufficient to pay for order they had given, and asked loser to lend them £ 10, but she eventually lent them £ 9, Mrs. Black leaving as security a skin rug which is practically worthless. These women were seen to get into a chocolate coloured Ford motor van. in which wore two men and a baby. The van was painted with yellow lines round edges and decorated similar to a travelling hawker's cart, It bore the name of Smith, Licensed Hawker, Leicester, and the registration number J
