Silver- man, alias Morris Bernstein, b. 1893 to 1895, 5ft. 3 or 4in., h. fair, clean shaven, Roman nose ; dress, black nap overcoat with belt at back, soft brown hat, A Jew.— 2nd. M. Brown, b. 1888, 5ft. 7 or 8in., stoutish build, c. fresh, h. dk., clean shaven; dress, blue jersey and dk. overcoat. Appearance of a seaman.— 3rd, A Man, I). 1888 to 1893, 5ft. 7in., stoutish build, h. dk., clean shaven, Yorkshire accent ; dress, dk. overcoat, dk. velour hat. Called on jeweller and stated they had £ 4000 worth of platinum pins for sale, which on examination were found to be white metal. Then offered secondhand jewellery value £ 400 and agreed to accept £ 250 for it. Before leaving the shop asked jeweller to put the articles, which were rolled in piece of blue velvet and in an attache- case, into his safe and give them the key. This was done and on returning later Silverman was given £ 200 and left taking key with him. As he failed to return, the safe was forced following ( lay and tho parcel in the attache- ease was found to contain 24 brass chains and some empty jewellery boxes. Sheriff's warrant issued. He called again on the 22nd inst. and asked for a glass to be fitted to a watch at once, whilst one assistant was away with the watch he asked another assistant to allow him to look at some rings in the window. The rings were placed on the counter and he at once snatched them up, ran out of the shop and disappeared on a bicycle. The bicycle has since been found aban- doned here, and it has been ascertained that it was hired from a local cycle dealer shortly before the robbery was committed. Inf. to the C. C., Bath.
