ESSEX. 79.- Clacton- on- Sea ( Co.).— For obtaining 15s. by false pretences, in Nov., 1922.— William Fairhurst, aliases Baines and Hindle, C. R. O. No. Hi I- 19, Cases Nos. 241. Supplement A ( Vol. 1.) and 11,3. 20- 12- 22. b. 1886, 5ft. 4| in., slim build, c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. blue, very thin face : dress, dk. suit and cap, collar and tie. A traveller; native of Blackburn. Pre. con. of fraud at GLASGOW ( William Hayhurst), BEACONSFIELD ( William Barnes), GOOLE and ELLESMERE PORT ( William Fairhurst). Called on tradesman with samples of picture frame mouldings, stating that he represented the Bar ard Manufacturing Company, 45, Magdalen Street, Norwich ( false). He obtained order, secured payment in advance and gave receipt. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Phillibrown, Clacton- on- Sea. 80.— Epping ( Co.).— For obtaining food and lodgings and £ 2 by false pretences ( worthless cheque), 27th ult. E. H. Gaskin, b. 1877 to 1882, 5ft. 7 or 8in., c. sallow, h. dk. brown, e. dk., pro- minent nose ; dress, dk. grey suit, bowler hat, dk. blue overcoat with belt at back. A manager. Obtained lodgings with licensee of public house, whom he had formerly known, and tendered in payment cheque No. 879/ 17 for £ 5 on Barclays Bank, High Holborn ( L.), and received £ 2 change. The cheque was afterwards found to be worthless. Accompanied by a woman ( not wanted), b. about 1882, 5ft, 5 or 6in., c. pale, h. black ( waved) ; dress, black fur coat and hat. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Ellis, Epping. HAMTSHIRE. 81.'- Ringwood ( Co.).- For obtaining cheque for £ 4 10s. by false pretences. Leslie Snook, b. 1890( looks older), 5ft. 5 to7in., c. dk., h. dk. brown, e. brown, dk. mark across nose between eyes, well spoken ; dress, brown tweed jacket and waistcoat, Bedford cord breeches, soft felt hat, white linen collar ( butterfly shape), . tie, brown gaiters and boots, respectable appearance. Native of Dor- chester. Called on a farmer, obtained cheque on pretext that his motor car had broken down and that he required the monev to pay for repairs ( false). Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Pragnell, Ringwood. QOINQ TO PRE88— 9.30 a. m. KENT. 82.— Maidstone ( Boro.).- For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, between 15th and 18th inst.- - Jack Ellis, b. about 1895, 5ft. 6in., h. and moustache ( small) dk., e. grey, gold tooth rt. upper jaw ; dress, brownish mixture knickers and stockings, f incy yellow waistcoat, fawn mackintosh, It. grey trilby hat, soft collar, tie, brown shoes. Obtained lodgings by falsely representing that he hail obtained employment at local garage, stayed from 15th to 18th inst., on which date he absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Maidstone. 83. Ramsgate ( Boro.).— For leaving his wife and children chargeable to the Isle of Thanet Union, 10th ult.- Thomas Henry Spencer, b. 1887, about 5ft. llin., c. dk., h. turning grey, e. blue, slight moustache, hands and heart rt. forearm, All my love to Lucy both hands. A tractor driver or painter. Warrant, issued. Inf. to the C. C., Ramsgate. LANARKSHIRE. 84.- Glasgow ( City).— For embezzlement.— George S. Orr, b. about 1867, 5ft, 10in., stout build, heavy dk. moustache, usually well dressed. A solicitor. May endeavour to go abroad. Em- bezzled money entrusted to him by clients. Portrait will appear next issue. Sheriff's warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Glasgow. LANCASHIRE. 85.— Barrow- in- Furness ( Boro.).— For stealing ( dwelling). 144 small gilt washed 1- stone tie- pins; 9 large do. ; 72 assorted metal rings ; 11 packs American playing cards ; 24 boxes California per- fumed beads ; 36 black imitation leather pocket wallets ; 36 small black cross lined note- books ; 11 brown leather chain alberts ; and £ 10.— Arthur Haegerty, b. 1901, 5ft. 5 or 6in., slim build, h. dk., e. blue ( short sighted), wore metal rimmed spec- tacles, clean shaven, London accent; dress, dk. grey tweed suit, dk. brown muffler, check tweed J 11 THE POLICE GAZETTE. A. and Salvation Army hostels. fnf. to the 0.0., Barrow- in- Furness. • SO.— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining twine, value £ 8 3s. 4d., bv false pretences, 8th ult.-- Harold Plumbley, b. 1898 to 1900, 5ft, 9 or 10in., medium build, c. fresh, h. brown, clean shaven ; dress, dk. suit, blue overcoat, tweed trilby hat, double collar, tie, smart appearance. Called on loser and falsely stated that he traded as H. H. Plumbley & Co., Hazel Grove. Loser believed statement and allowed him to take away 2801bs. twine. Believed to be now residing at Reddish. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Manchester. SHROPSHIRE. 87. Wellington ( Co.).— For obtaining food and lodgings and 10s. by false pretences, at Newport, between 11th and 13th inst.— Horace You, I). 1882 to 1892, 5ft. 7 or 8in., h.' dk., clean shrven. 2 teeth missing front upper jaw, very plausible ; dress, grey suit, overcoat and trilby hat, stiff collar, tie. black socks and shoes. Obtained lodgings, st: ted he was foreman painter for a Stafford firm, and was in charge of men about to commence work locally. Borrowed above amount., saying he was expecting his wages the following day, and absconded. Warrant issued. Inf. to the D. C. C., Wellington. SUFFOLK. 88.— Ipswich ( Boro.).— For stealing ( lodgings) £ 21 10s. Herbert Ridgeway, aliases Charles P. Washington, George Eraser, George Bentley and Turner, C. R. O. No. 443- 01, Case No. 238, Sttpple- ment A ( Vol. IX.), b. 1855, 5ft. 7Jin., c. fresh, h. ( bald on top), e. and beard grey, large teeth upper jaw ; dress, small brown check suit, shabby black overcoat, stiff turned down collar, check tie, peaked cap, boots. A steward ; native of Ipswich. Pre. con. of fraud and lareenv at LOUTH ( Parnell Washington), IPSWICH ( Benjamin Button), YARMOUTH ( Charles Stacey), TEWKESBURY ( Charles Wood) and on F, K, N, V and Y. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Ipswich.
