ESSEX. 85.- Southend- on- Sea ( Boro.).— 20th inst., in ditch by roadside, at Bournes Green, the body of newly born Female Child, enclosed in new bath towel, drab, white and cream colour, 3ft. 6in. long, 18in. wide, and wrapped in new sheet of brown paper tied with string. A post mortem revealed that the child had had a separate existence and that death was caused by asphyxia, due to a cord being placed round the neck, and jracture of the skull. inf. to the C. C., Southend- on- Sea. DEATH. 86.— William Jones, alias Frederick Allen, C. R. O. No. 291- 02, died in Parkhurst Prison, 2nd ult. Said to be a music hall artist. Ordered above property on behalf of Lady Benson's Touring Company ( false). Warrant issued. Ins. to C. R. O. GOING TO PRESS - 9.30 a. m. others ; sheet 9ct. gold, weighing about Ifozs. — A. Nash, b. about 1877, 5ft. 6in.. c, pale, h. dk. ( turning grey), clean shaven, prominent forehead ; dress, It. grey suit ( worn), dk. grey overcoat, bowler hat, collar, white muffler fastened with brass safety pin. A working jeweller ; sp. icl native of Birmingham. Was given temporary employment by loser and was left alone in work- shop for a short time. Left ostensibly to go to dinner and failed to return, and the above property was afterwards missed. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Derby. CHESHIRE. 116.— Chester ( City).— For stealing ( servant), 3 postal Army draft books, Nos. G over 9 227301 to 227600.— Peter Ernest Fraser, b. 1886, 5ft. 10in., medium build, c. fresh ( rough), h. dk. bfown, long thin features, clean shaven, Scottish accent ; dress, dk. tweed jacket, grey trilby hat with black band, It. soft collar, bluish coloured tie, brown shoes. In possession of It. plaid suit. In receipt of Army pension, identity paper No. 3 P. M., F. I., 7270. The drafts can be made out for sums ranging from £ 2 to £ 10, and are negotiable at any post office. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Chester. CUMBERLAND AND WESTMORLAND. 117.— Appleby ( Co.).— For stealing from Co- operative Stores a quantity of drapery, at Tebay, between 30th ult. and 18th inst.— Thomas Bowman, b. 1885, 5ft. 10in., c. sallow, h. black, clean shaven, prominent teeth ( I front tooth believed missing); dress, greenish- grey suit, It. trilby hat, heavy dk. overcoat, shoes, smart appearance. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Masson, Appleby. DERBYSHIRE. 118— Derby ( Boro.).— For stealing from jeweller's workshop, 22nd inst., lady's 18ct. half hoop dress ring, 5 diamonds, claw setting; do. dress ring, 3 diamonds, claw setting, centre one larger than 119.— Woodville ( Co.).— For obtaining £ 6 by false pretences at Church Grisley.— H. Gray, b. 1896, 5ft. 6in., medium build, c. pale, h. fair, clean shaven ; dress, It. grey suit, cap. Inserted advertisement in Racing Pigeon offering timimg clock and pigeon basket for sale. Loser forwarded above amount in respect of the clock but did not receive same, and subsequent applications to Gray were returned marked Gone away. Appears identical with H. Gray, Case No. 4, 8- 11 - 22. Warrant issued. Inf. to Supt. Wood, Woodville. LANCASHIRE. 120.— Manchester ( City).— For stealing ( trick) telephone call recorder, 24th ult- Herbert Payne, b. 1882 to 1887, 5ft. 10in., slim build, h. dk. brown, e. hazel, toothbrush moustache, very plausible" and speaks quickly ; dress, dk. suit, 1 dk. grey overcoat, bowler hat, collar and tie, brown boots. Was employed on commission to canvass ordcr. i for telephone call recorders and was entrusted with one as sample. Sold one to loser and afterwards called on him, said the recorder was faulty and that he had instructions to take it away for the purpose of sending it to London for repairs. Warrant issued. Inf. to the C. C., Manchester. 121.- Reedley ( Co.).— For housebreaking ( duplicate key), at Barrowford.— Two Men : 1st, 5ft. 6in.. slightly bow- legged ; dress, dk. clothing, cap, boots.— 2nd, 5ft. LINCOLNSHIRE. 122— Grantham ( Boro.).— For stealing bieycle ( recovered), 8th inst. A Man who gave name of R. Ainsworth, b. 1888 or 1889, 5ft. 9 or lOin.. h. It. ( thin), round face, clean shaven, gruff voice, rt. hand believed missing ; dress, dk. suit, fawn mackintosh, fawn trilby hat, collar, tie, believed fancy socks and shoes. Engaged room at local hotel, 8th inst., stated he was recruiting for Royal Air Force ; also engaged accommodation at a local garage, stating he had an Overland car. Left same day, and the bicycle was later missed and afterwards found to have been sold to a soldier at an aero- drome in the vicinity. Inf. to the C. C., Grantham. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE. 123.— Nottingham ( City).— For stealing ( dwell- ing), 8tb inst., lady's 18ct. half- hunter watch : 9ct. expanding bracelet ( both recovered). A Man, I), about 1889. 5ft. 3in., c. sallow, h. black, clean shaven ; dress, grey suit, grey trilby hat. Stated he was travelling the country taking photographs, and wanted lodgings for himself and manager for about a fortnight. Asked to be allowed to go upstairs, and shortly afterwards left the house, and later the above articles were missed from bedroom. Inf. to the C. C., Nottingham.
