METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT. 1.— C Division.— For forgery and uttering cheque ancl obtaining £ 5 and clothing, 27th ult.— Guy Cochrane Veale Greetham, aliases Captain Guy Greetham and G. C. Goade, C. R. O. No. 21034- 21, b. 1896, 5ft. 10in., broad build, c. fresh, h. and moustache dk., e. hazel, scar 1. eye, very short neck, slight limp, badly wounded in head, addicted to drink and becomes very excited when under its influence ; dress, blue serge suit. Native of Devonshire. Pre. con. of fraud and cvcle- stealing at CAMBRIDGE and SLOUGH. Called on firm of military tailors and represented himself to be Lieut. Chichester, 1st Somerset Light Infantry ( a customer). Ordered clothing to value of £ 21 7s., and asked to be supplied " with one of firm's blank cheque forms, as he had left his cheque book at home. He then drew the cheque on Messrs. Cox & Co., Charing Cross, for £ 10, being £ 5 deposit on the account and £ 5 cash, which he asked the manager to let him have, as he was short of ready money. This man was an inmate of Old Manor Asylum. Salisbury, and absconded, whilst on parole, 21st ult. Inf. to C. R. O. 2.— D Division.— For obtaining £ 200 by false pretences.— Evelyn Haywood, b. 1887, 5ft. Gin., slim build, h. fair, e. grey, speaks quietly ; dress, blue serge costume, small hat. A nurse. Obtained above amount on bill of sale, on furniture which she stated in a sworn statement was her property. It was later found that the goods had been supplied to her on the hire system, and were not paid for. Warrant issued. Inf. to C. R. O. 3.— L Division.— For stealing ( lodgings) gent's double- breasted green and grey striped overcoat, blanket cloth, red and brown striped lining ; and 10s.— William Westrop, aliases William Jones, William Cooper and William Henry Smith, C. R. O. No. 352- 11, Case No. 450, Supplement A ( Vol. IX.), b. 1878, 5ft. 8£ in., medium build, c. dk., h. dk. brown ( turning grey in front), e. brown, scar back neck and 1. temple, clean shaven, erect figure, fairly well spoken ; dress, It. tweed suit, cream shirt, white collar, black and white tie, mauve scarf, It. grey trilby hat with black band, boots. A baker ; native of London. Pre. con. of burglary, larceny, receiving, cyclestealing and minor offences at LEWES, NEATH, SLEAFORD, LINCOLN ( William Westrop) and on M, P, V and W. Repre- sented to loser he was employed at a large works in neighbourhood and wanted a bedroom for which he paid in advance. YORKSHIRE ( WEST RIDING). 103. Bradford ( City).— For stealing ( trick, ring- ing the changes) £ 5, 2nd inst.- Two Women : 1st, b. 1872 to 1870, 5ft. Oin., medium build, c. fresh, h. ginger ( probably dyed), full face, hair on upper hp ; dress, dk. clothing.- 2nd, b. 1892 to 1897, 5ft. 3in., slim build, c. and h. dk., sharp features : dress, navy blue or black costume. On above date the first woman entered an outfitter's shop, made small purchase, tendered £ 10 Bank of England note in payment, received her change, and left. Shortly afterwards the second woman entered, made small purchase, for which she tendered £ 5 Bank of England note in payment, and received her change. She then placed £ 5 in Treasury notes near the £ 5 note she had tendered and said she wovdd like to have a £ 10 note, and was handed same, and left the shop. The shopkeeper then found that he had been victimised of the above amount. Inf. to the C. C., Bradford.
