CONFIDENTIAL Supplement B THE POLICE GAZETTE No. 39. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, 1922. VOL. IX. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought tor failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Act. Those bearing names marked * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer ; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry hit licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failin_' to produ? e a licence it snould be ascertained what the defaulter has ti say. ride See. 5, Sib- Sec. I. 7 A: 28 Vict., Cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show s< tme 1 eaionable excuse why he doet not produce the same. N. B— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees CANTERBURY. 196.—* Walter James Hadley, aliases Charles Herbert Bushell, Walter Henry Hadley, Walter Hadley, William Palmer, James Drew and William Andrews, C. R. O. No. 2088- 01, b. 1878, oft. 7in., c. pale, h. brown ( turning grey), e. grey, scar bridge of nose, 1. cheek and rt. forearm, heart, anchor, cross rt., bust of female, scroll, ELIZA and bracelet 1. forearm. A painter and carpenter ; native of Canterbury. Sentenced at Bodmin Sess., 1- 10- 18, to .5 yrs. pen. for ( 1) obtaining goods and money by false pretences; ( 2) stealing a shirt; ( 3) obtaining money by false pretences ; ( 4) obtaining food and money by false pretences. Liberated on licence, 21- 7- 22, to Canterbury. Failed to make his monthly report at Whitstable, 21- 9- 22. It has been ascertained that he left Whitstable, 31- 8- 22. Pre. con. of cyclestealing, obtaining money by false pretences, obtaining goods by false pretences, larceny and a minor offence. Known to Police at CANTERBURY, HARBLE- DOWN, TRURO, TAUNTON, OXFORD, WAREHAM, GODALMING, NEW ROMNEY, ST. AUSTELL, PENRHYN, SALTASH and on R. For portrait, etc., see Case No. 100, Supplement A ( Vol. IV.). Inf. to Supt., Canterbury. Persons Licensed from a- Borstal Institution. C. R. O. 197.— For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence which has been revoked.— Donald McKenzie, alias Donald Mackenzie, C. R. O.' No. .7695- 22, b. 1904, 5ft. 4Jin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. grey, scar rt. eyebrow, bridge of nose, 1. cheek and back rt. hand, nose slightly inclined to right. A fisherman ; native of Edinburgh. Sentenced at Middlesbrough Sess., 26- 4- 21, to 3 yrs. detention in a B. I. for cyclestealing. Libe.- ated on licence, 28- 4- 22, to the care of the Borstal Association. 2 POLICE GAZETTE SUPPLEMENT B. Friday, September 29, 1922| Persons Licensed from a Borstal Institution— continued. On discharge he was sent to Grimsby and found a berth on a steam trawler, which he lost through laziness, and has now disappeared. Pre. con. of a minor offence. Known to Police at MIDDLESBROUGH. If arrested a telegram or telephonic message should be sent to C. R. O., when arrangements will be made for an escort to fetch him. The licence will expire 25- 4- 1925, after which date he must not on any account be arrested^ by the Police. Apprehensions. 198.— Reuben Gledhill, C. R. O.
