Those bearing names marked thus * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a lioence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder ia not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence, it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say, vide Sec. 5, Sub- sec. 1, 27 & 28 Vict., cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same.
