CONFIDENTIAL, Supplement B. THE POLICE GAZETTE FRIDAY, AUGUST 14, 1914. No. 33, VOL. I. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Grimes Acts, and the Prisoners ( Temporary Discharge for 111 Health) Act, 1913. Those bearing names marked thus * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer; but it should De distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence, it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say, vide Sec. 5, Sub- sec. 1, 27 & 28 Vict., cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees. HARRIS, FRED., aliases, patrick Harris, Pat- rick Leonard, James Winters, William Stewart and George Wilson, C. R. O. No. 438- 09, age 61, lit. 5ft. lin., c. pale, li. white, e. brown; dress, dk. cloth suit, black bowler hat. A canvasser; native of Ireland. Sentenced at Lichfield Sess., 22.1.1914, to 6 mos.' impt. and 2 yrs.' supu. for fraud. Liberated, 22.6.1914, to Lichfield. Failed to notify his change of address. Represents he is a canvasser in the employ of a firm of rubber stamp manufacturers, solicits orders, obtains money for same, gives receipts on plain paper and states the stamps will be forwarded direct from the firm. Usually carries an old black leather bag containing a specimen of stamps, also a catalogue of same. Known to police at ABERDEEN, BARNSLEY, ST. HELENS, MANCHESTER, WHITBY, BISHOP AUCKLAND, KIDDERMINSTER and LICHFIELD. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Moss, Burton- on- Trent. 279. Manchester ( City). * INGHAM, WILLIAM, aliases, Thomas John- son, James Evans, William England, William Johnson, William Aspinall, Charles Taylor, Henry Ludlow, Charles Evans, William Mills, William Higgins and William Jackson, C. R. O. No. 728- 01, age 68, ht. 5ft. 2Jin., c. florid, h. dk. brown ( turn- ing grey, thin), e. blue, large scar front of fore- head, scar front rt. ear, 1. of neck and over 1. eyebrow. Sentenced at Knutsford Sess., 29.6.1910, to 5 yrs.' pen. for shopbreaking. Liberated on licence, 9.4.1914, to Manchester. Failed to report, 1.7.1914. Has numerous oons. of burglary, larceny ( per- son), housebreaking, possessing counterfeit coin, etc. Known to police at STOCKPORT, MANCHES- TER, CHURCH STRETTON and DERBY. Information to the Chief Constable, Manchester. APPREHENSION. 280. JOHN PARKIN, C. R. O. No. 613- 04, Case No. 237, at Gateshead. APPREHENSION SOUGHT. 281. SAMUEL MILLAR, C. R. O.
