CONFIDENTIAL, Supplement B. THE POLICE GAZETTE FRIDAY, JULY 24, 1914. No. 30, VOL. I. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Acts, and the Prisoners ( Temporary Discharge for 111 Health) Act, 1913. Those bearing names marked thus * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer; but it should De distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce a licence, it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say, vide Sec. 5, Sub- sec. 1, 27 & 28 Vict., cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portrait. Licence Holders and Supervisees. Tin., c. fresh, h. dk, brown, e. blue,, scar rt. of forehead, rt. jaw and 1. eyebrow, part bracelet rt. wrist, heart web 1. thumb, 2nd rt. finger- nail deformed. A labourer; native of London. Sentenced at C. C. C., 11.9.1906, to 5 yrs.' pen. and 3 yrs.' supn. for warehousebreaking. Last liberated, 12.5.1914, into Met. Pol. Dist. Left Cardiff, without reporting, 4th inst., pro- ceeded to London in company with Charles Boar, 1262- 10, but nothing has since been heard of him. A persistent warehousebreaker who scales walls, gates, etc., and forces windows or climbs through fanlights or skylights. Known to police of CITY OF LONDON and on C, H and M DIVNS., MET. POL. May be dealt with where found. 257. Ipswich ( Borough). ' HAWLEY, SYDNEY GEORGE, aliases, Stanley George Hatch and George Stanley, C. R. O. No. 3578- 02 "( see Case No. 12, POLICE GAZETTE, 17th inst.), age 32, ht. 5ft. Um., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. blue, scars on forehead, rt. cheek and outer angle 1. eye. A bookbinder; native of Yarmouth. Sentenced at C. C. C., 6.9.1910, to 5 yrs.' pen. for larceny. Liberated on licence, 11.6.1914, into Met. Pol." Dist. Officer proving identity, P. S. Scrimshaw, C. I. D. K. Reported in Met. Pol. Dist., 25th ult., his inten- tion to proceed to Ipswich, but has not reported his arrival there, and nothing has since been heard of him. Selects advertisements offering lodgings, where applicant does not mind sharing a bed. Posing as a clerk just transferred from the provinces, generally Yarmouth or Reading, lie decides to take the lodgings and, after his companion has left in the morning, ransacks his boxes and decamps with anything of value. Usually leaves behind a port- manteau which, on being examined, is found to contain paper, etc. Has also obtained money by forging Post Office withdrawal forms in connection with bank books he has stolen. Known on K and Y DIVNS., MET. POL. May be dealt with where found. 258. Liverpool ( City). * MORRIS, CYRIL EDGAR, aliases, Cyril Morris, Thomas Morris and Thomas Smith, C. R. O. No. 680- 14, age 23, ht. 5ft. 7in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. hazel, scar rt. of forehead, 1. of neck, outer angle 1. eye and 1st 1. finger, mole rt. of forehead and on throat, both arms been broken. An iron- monger ; native of Sheffield. Sentenced at Notts. Assizes, 4.7.1910, to 5 yrs.' pen. for arson ( stack). Liberated on licence, 5.6.1914, to Darlington. Failed, to notify his change of address,/ Has cons, of cyclestealing and other larcenies Known to police at SHEFFIELD, GAINS- BOROUGH, MARKET HARBOROUGH and NEWARK. May be dealt with where found. 259. Criminal Record Office. WILKINS, GEORGE, alias William Bullimore, C. R. O. No. 204- 12, age 29, ht. 5ft. 6iin., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. grey, dot. each 1. finger. A labourer; native of Northampton Sentenced at Northampton Sess., 2.1.1913, to 6 mos.' impt. and 3 yrs.' supn. for larceny. Libe- rated from subsequent conviction, 14.7.1914. into Met. Pol. Dist. Supn. expires 3.6.1916. Failed to report on liberation. A travelling criminal who breaks shop windows and abstracts goods, and steals goods exposed for sale. Known to police at DUNSTABLE, SOUTHAM, DAVENTRY, WOOTTON NORTH, DEDDING- TON, CIRENCESTER. TOWCESTER. KET- TERING and on S and T DIVNS., MET. POL. May be dealt with where found. 260. Criminal Record Office. * WILSON, EDWARD, C. R. O. No. 267- 09, age 37, ht. 5ft. 3in., c. fresb, h. dk. brown, e. hazel, small cut scar rt. eyebrow. A labourer; native of Huddersfield. Sentenced at Northallerton Sess., 4.1.1912, to 3 yrs.' pen. for larceny. Liberated on licence, 3.4.1914, to Huddersfield. Failed to notify his change of address. Joined the S. S. " Albr. W. Setmer," 5.5.1914, at Cardiff and sailed on the following day for Fleetwood, where he deserted. He worked at tlie docks at Fleetwood for a few days and then left, nothing since having been heard of him. Pre. cons, of shopbreaking, larceny, etc. Known to police at SOWERBY, HUDDERS- FIELD and WAKEFIELD. May be dealt with where found. 261. Norwich ( City). ADAMS, WALTER JABEZ, alias Alfred Charles Williams-, C. R. O. No. 1496- 13, age 26, ht. 5ft. 4| in., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey. A seaman; native of Norwich. Sentenced at' Peterborough Sess., 10.4.1913, to 9 mos.' impt. and 2 yrs.' supn. for larceny, and subsequently at Scarborough P. Sess., 26.3.1914, to 12 weeks' impt. for fraudulent enlistment. Supn. expires 25.11.1915. Left Norwich about a month back without reporting, but stated he might go to Lowestoft or Yarmouth to endeavour to secure a berth on a ship or trawler. A travelling cycle thief and pickpocket. Known to police at Norwich and Lowestoft, For portrait see Case No. 78. Information to the Chief Constable, Norwich. 8 APPREHENSIONS. 262. 263. JOHN THOMAS METCALF, C. R. O. No. 185- 00, Case No. 100, is remanded on T Divn., Mel. Pol., for horsestealing. 264. HENRY KING, C. R. O. No. 1927- 04, Case No. horsestealing. FRANCIS MURRAY, C. R. O. No. 6933- 14, Case- No. 145, is in custody at Enniskillen on a charge of burglary. 249. is remanded at Feltham Petty Sess. ( L.), for Persons Licensed from a Borstal Institution. 265. Criminal Record Office. For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence, which has been revoked.— FRED HAYTON, C. R. O. No. S/ 143058, age 22, ht. 5ft. 6Ain., c. fresh, h. brown, e. grey, slight scar rt. Was sent to Gateshead under the care of the local agent, disappeared on 30th ult., and was shortly after seen at Knottingley, carrying a port- manteau, and then stated his intention of proceed- ing to Canada.
