CONFIDENTIAL. Supplement B. THE POLICE GAZETTE FRIDAY, APRIL 10TH, 1914. No. 15, Voi,. 1. Convicts on Licence, persons under Police Supervision and others whose apprehensions are sought for failing to comply with the requirements of the Prevention of Crimes Acts, and the Prisoners ( Temporary Discharge for 111 Heath) Act, 1913. Those bearing names marked thus * are Licence Holders, and should produce their licences. The first condition of a licence is that the holder shall preserve it and produce it when called upon by a Magistrate or Police Officer; but it should be distinctly understood that a Licence Holder is not required to carry his licence upon him. Before preferring a charge of failing to produce ia licence, it should be ascertained what the defaulter has to say, vide Sec. 5, Sub- sec. 1, 27 & 28 Vict., cap. 47, which requires a Licence Holder to produce his licence or show some reasonable excuse why he does not produce the same. N. B.— When a circulation is cancelled, the printed matter relating to the person in question might be ruled through in red ink, without defacing the portraits. No. 3685- 97, age 70, ht. 5ft. 9Jin., c. fresh, li. brown ( turning grey), e. brown, scar lower lip, long thin nose. Sentenced at Ipswich Sess., 8.4.1909, to 5 yrs.' pen. for larceny and fraud. Liberated on licence, 30.12.1912, into Met. Pol. But. Officer proving service of notice, P. S. Osborn, 33, D. Failed to report at Paddinqton Pol. Sta., F Divn., Met. Pol., 30.9.1913. Posing as a retired doctor he takes furnished apartments, represents he has bought or rented a mansion in the locality, orders goods from trades- men and absconds without payment. Known to police at Reading, Bournemouth, York, Nottingham, Lowestoft, and on B and (' Divns., Met. Pol. Warrant issued. Information to above Office. 124. Criminal Record Office. Sentenced at West Ham Sess., 29.7.1910, to 4 yrs.' pen. for receiving. Liberated on licence, 5.9.1913, to Cardiff, which expires 15.8.1914 ( 18 days' appellant). Officer proving identity, P. C. Payne ( K), C. I. D. Officer proving service of notice, Stn. P. S. Ask- ham, 73, K. Failed to report at Plaistow Pol. Sta., K Divn., Met. Pol., 5.4.1914. A violent thief who steals from shops, from the person, etc. Known to police on A" Dim., Met. Pol. Information to above Office. 125- Leeds ( City). • NAYLOR, FREDERICK HADFIELD, alias JOHN HADFIELD, C. R. O. No. 1536- 13, age 30, ht. 5ft. 2in., c. fresh, h. dk. brown, e. blue, blue scar 1. eyebrow, cut scar tip 1st 1. finger. Sentenced at Manchester Assizes, 11.4.1910, to 5 yrs.' pen. for wounding. Liberated on licence, 5.12.1913, to Bradford, which expires 8.5.1915 ( 28 days' appellant). Failed to notify his change of address. One pre. con. of frequenting at Manchester. May be dealt with where found. 126. Newcastle- on- Tyne ( City). • WILSON, JOHN, alias GEORGE WILSON, C. R. O. No. 1808- 05, age 57, ht. 5ft. 3in., c. fresh, h. dk. brown ( turning grey), e. grey, scar bridge of nose, cut scar 1. eyebrow. A labourer; native of Stoke- on- Trent. Sentenced at Usk Sess., 18.10.1911, to 3 yrs.' pen. for burglary. Liberated on licence, 16.1.1914, to Newcastle. Failed to notify his change of residence. A travelling burglar who selects farm houses in lonely districts and effects entry through the win- dows ; usually partakes of food before leaving the premises. Known to police at Wisbech, hawkshead, Wor- cester, Nantwich and Craig. Warrant issued by Newcastle. May be dealt with where found. Since going to press this man has been sentenced to 7 days' impt. for drunkenness, and the fore- going notice is therefore cancelled. 127. Coventry ( City). • PAXTON, HARRY, alias HARRY ED- WARDS, C. R. O. No. 2637- 01, age 36, ht. 5ft. 9fin., c. fresh, li. dk. brown, e. brown, abscess scar rt. jaw, mole rt. cheek, cross 1. forearm; dre3s, brown suit, collar and tie, soft hat, patent leather boots. It. cloth uppers; had in his possession a pair of brown boots; may be wearing a gunmebal watch in brown wristlet which he obtained from a young woman whom he duped. A baker; native of Leamington. Sentenced at Preston Sess., 6.1.1909, to 7 yrs.' pen. for cyclestealing. Liberated on licence, 10.2.1914, to Coventry, which expires 16.1.1916 ( 11 days' appellant). Absconded from his lodgings without reporting, 7th ult., with a portion of elephant's trunk, for which offence his arrest is also sought, vide POLICE GAZETTE, 3rd inst., Case No. 102. Obtains money by representing himself as an Army gymnastic instructor ordered to rejoin his regiment but has no funds to pay his railway fare. Also poses as a detective and an Army pensioner. Known to police at Warwick, Nuneaton, Lea- mington, Rugby, Whitchurch, Southam, Roches- ter, Chatham, and on W Divn.. Met. Pol.
