POLICE GAZETTE PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY. NEW SEKIES. FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 1913. 1. All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions nlating to lliem, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OK THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose upprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in quest'un to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offenccs will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every annoumcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran- teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. VOL. XXX., No. 3102. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment u- ill be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion { if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. Warrant issued. 4.— K Division.— For stealing a sewing machine ( recovered)— ALFRED ISETT, age 22, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, long and curly, eyes brown, long straight nose, of Jewish appearance; dress, brown jacket euit, grey tie and cap, patent leather boots. A native of East Ham. Warrant issued. 5.— K Division.— For stealing ( dwelling) a sewing machine ( recovered). — SIDNEY SWAN, Office No. 146633, age 21, height 5 ft. 7 ins., com- plexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue, scars over right eye and on nose, burn scar right fore- arm; dress, dark blue jacket suit, blue and white muffler, grey cap, patent leather boots. Native of Barking. Warrant issued. ii.— L Division.— For obtaining money by false pretences— HARRY EVANS, age 40, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes ( left missing) grey, I love L. Smith left upper arm, several indistinct marks back of forearm, dot 2nd left finger, of Jewish appearance; wearing dark clothes, black hard felt hat, A native of Lambeth. May be found playing a harmonium outside public- houses. Represented himself as a County Court Bailiff. Warrant issued. 7.— N Division.— For embezzling £ 1 16s. OJd., 19th July last— WILLIAM JAMES GRACE, age 17, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., com plexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, looks downwards when spoken to; dress, dark suit and cap, lace boots. A baker's roundsman ; native of Tottenham. Warrant issued. 8.— T Division.— For being concerned to gether in stealing £ 45.— WILLIAM BUGBY, an Irishman, age 40, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top) dark, eyes blue; dress, dark lounge suit, light fancy vest, bowler hat, lace boots.— ELIZA JANET ROSS, age 44, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion sallow, hair dark, eyes brown ; wearing blue serge costume, shoes. BEDFORDSHIRE. 9.— Luton ( Borough).— For stealing ( lodger) a gold watch ( recovered) ; 1 silver chain, long link pattern- PONDICK, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, moustache light, hair brown ; wearing light suit, straw hat, and brown boots blacked over. A coach trimmer; has been employed in the Bayswater district, and may seek employment at motor works. Information to the Chief Constable, Luton. BERKSHIRE. 10.— Windsor ( Borough).— For stealing ( bailee) cloth and lining— FREDERICK RYAN, age 45, height 5 ft. 6 ins., hair brown, moustache light brown, eyes hazel; dress, dark lounge jacket, plaid vest, grey trousers, green grey cap. A tailor. absconded 1st August. Warrant issued. 11.— Windsor ( Borough).— For failing to comply with the conditions of recognizance— JAMES WOODS, age 18, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue; dress, dark grey mixture suit, much too large, dark cap; absconded 24tli inst. May be accompanied by his father, age 56, height 5 ft, 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair grey, eyes brown; a tramping labourer. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable. Windsor. CA RDIGA NSHIRE. 12.— Llandyssul ( Country).— For stealing ( bailee) 25th ult., a Rudge Whitworth bicycle, road racer, black enamelled, 26- in. wheels, 2- speed gear, Liberty tyres with beaded edges, drop handlebars, 2 small pull- up levers for brakes, right crank slightly loose, Miller's plated gas lamp— WALTER SKILLINGS, age about 22, height 5 ft. 10 ins.. complexion fair, clean shaven; dress, brown tweed suit, green tie, lace boots; a farm labourer. CA RNA R VONSHIRE. 13.— Conway ( County).— For officebreaking, 17th inst., and stealing about £ 40; 1 £ 5 note; 1 cheque for £ 2 8s. 9d., drawn by Arthur Nether- wood, on the National Provincial Bank, Conway; and an Army travelling warrant for 3s. 9d.— WILLIAM R'. OWEN, age 21, height about 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion pale, hair brown, clean shaven, eyes small and sunken; dress, old dark grey snit and cap; had with him a fawn- colour dust coat and muffler. Od. bv a worthless cheque, 23rd ult.— HAR- VEY C. REDMOND, age 28 to 30, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion sallow, hair black, clean shaven, eyes brown, several upper teeth artificial, walks quickly ; dress, blue serge suit, straw hat. DEVONSHIRE. 15.— Torquay ( County).— For nonpayment of £ 6 9s. 6d., bastardy arrears- ROBERT CHARLES MULLINS, age about 34, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, moustache ( usually waxed) brown. About 12 months ago he was em- ployed as a clerk, previously as a postman. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Roberts, Torquay. ESSEX. 16.— Clacton on- Sea ( County).— For ob- taining £ 4 7s. 6d. and a pair of boots by a worth- less cheque for £ 5, on Parr's Bank, Streathsua Branch. 27th ult.— C. PHILLIPS, age 35 to 40, height about 6 ft., slight build, complexion pate, hair and moustache ( waxed) dark, of smart ap- pearance ; dress, grey suit, straw hat, brown boote. He tendered the cheque in payment of the boots and received he balance. Supposed a native of Yorkshire. She was accompanied by her husband, tall, stout build, and a woman age about 30. In June last they took a house on three years' agreement, obtained the piano and absconded 30th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Mules, Clacton- on- Sea. 18.— Jj? HAMPSHIRE. 21.— Fareham ( County).— For leaving his • wife chargeable to the Fareham Union— HARRY EDMONDS, age 30, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, 2 angels, cross flags, Maltese cross and bust of female left fore- arm, several diamonds and cross flags right; wear- ing dark green suit and cap, black tie, lace boots. Has been a bandsman in the 1st Hants Regiment. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Carman, Fareham. 22.— Gosport ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, 11th inst.— — " PHILLIPS, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, hair dark, clean shaven, eyes appear weak, wears pince nez; dress, blue or black suit, purple tie, white straw hat. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Abel, Gosport. 28.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For stealing a flannelette petticoat, white with blue stripes, plain band; 1 pink flannelette nightdress; 1 black blouse, pleated front, long deep cuffs, cloth buttons in front; 1 heliotrope blouse with covered buttons in front to match; 1 black silk waistbelt with buckle; 1 piece of scarlet flannel, featherstitched with black wool; 1 Roman Catholic prayer book; 1 black fine serge skirt; 2 bath towels; 1 pair of lady's high- legged glace kid boots, size 5 ; 1 pair of steel- rimmed spectacles in case; 5i yards of pink flannelette; and £ 1 14s, 0d.— TERE'SA O'BRIEN, age about 45, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair brown; wearing brown cos- tume and navy blue straw hat, gold rimmed spectacles, or may be wearing some of the stolen clothing. LANCASHIRE. 24.— Blackpool ( Borough).— For obtaining a 9- ct. gold bracelet, basket pattern, padlock marked "' 36. P." attached, and £ 7 15s. lid. by a stolen cheque, 6th inst— A MAN, age 32, height 5 ft. 8i ins., hair light, erect bearing; appeared to be suffering from asthma. A commercial traveller. Warrant issued. 25.— Blackpool ( Borough).— For obtaining food and lodgings and £ 11 by false pretences be- tween 2nd and 30th ult.— MILLICENT MOXON, age 35, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., thick lips, large mouth, artificial teeth; a trained nurse. Stated £ 500 had been left to her which she would receive at the end of September. Warrant issued. 26.— Blackpool ( Borough).— For embezzle- ment— STEPHEN ASHWORTH, alias STE- PHEN HENRY MARTINS, age 29, height 5 ft. 3i ins., complexion fresh, oval face, hair sandy, eyes grey, mole right cheek, bust and incompleted head of woman right forearm; dress, dark suit, dark soft hat. DERBYSHIRE. 32.— Matlock ( County).— Charged with stealing a missionary box and contents 12th inst — JAMES DONOHUE, age 24, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, slight tattoo marks base of each thumb; dress, dark tweed suit with dark green stripes, dark cap. A native of Mayo.— PATRICK McDONNELL, age 19, height 5 ft. 7f ins., complexion fresh, hair auburn, eyes brown, scar back right hand; dress, black jacket and trousers with faint grey stripes, dark cap. A native of Dublin. They admit committing burglaries near Maidenhead and between Bedford and Leicester. Supposed wanted elsewhere. Information to Supt. Clarke, Matlock. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 33.— Barnsley (/ forcm^ A).- Committed for trial at next West Riding Assizes, charged with abduct- ing a girl, also for procuring her for the purpose of prostitution, 25th March last, age 16, height 4 ft. 9 ins., complexion pale, small features, hair brown; a domestic servant, native of Barnslev— WILLIAM MARSHALL, alias WILLIAM AR- THUR MARSHALL, age 25, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, clean shaven, cut scar second right finger. A labourer, native of Barnsley; previously convicted of false pretences, larceny and fraudulent enlistment at York, Bury, Darwen, Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Pontefract, Worcester and Barnsley. They have tramped through Yorkshire and Lancashire, and stayed together at coffee taverns and common lodg- ing hosues. Photograph can be seen on applica- tion. BUCKING HA MS HIRE. 34.- Chesham ( Cow? ify).- 12thinst., at Fulmer, 1 Oriental pearl necklace, 52 to 56 pearls, cjasp composed of 2 pearls together, guard chain, pearls slightly uneven in size, 2 slightly discoloured, and a few axe ridged; 1 plain gold band bracelet, set 5 brilliants; 1 small heart- shaped locket, incrusted with diamonds, 1 sapphire in centre, back containing hair; 1 diamond ring, half hoop, 5 large diamonds, graduated; 1 half- hoop turquoise ring, set small diamonds; 1 diamond ring, half hoop, set 5 small diamonds; 1 large opal oval brooch, set round with good size diamonds; 1 diamond and ruby crescent brooch ; 1 moonstone double heart brooch, connected with true lovers knot, with diamonds; 1 pearl pin, large whole pearl, with grenade in diamonds; 1 turquoise pin, with diamond drop; 1 old gold ball locket; 1 gold chain; 1 small gold vanity box; 2 safety chains, small pins attached; 1 blue- grey enamel pendant, with basket of flowers in diamonds, hair in back; 1 platinum chain to above, set small whole pearls, pendant and chain in red case, " Hem- ing & Co., Conduit Street," inside; 1 Indian orna- ment, one side green and red enamel, other side uncut diamonds, 3 pendants- pearl and uncut, dia- monds; various small gold trinkets, and safety pin. CA MB RIDGES HIRE. 35.— Cambridge ( Borough).— 13th inst., by housebreaking, a silver pencil case; 1 umbrella, crook handle; 1 gold bangle; 1 100 miles time medal, silver and blue enamel; 1 12- hours silver medal with gold centre, star shape; 1 100- miles silver medal with gold centre; 1 lady's mourning ring, set with pearls; 1 gold pendant on chain; 1 string of corals; 1 large pebble brooch, set in silver; 1 small pebble do.; 1 silver brooch; 6 silver teaspoons, engraved A. F. S.; 1 gold brooch with grey hair in centre; 1 Jubilee sixpence; 1 gold fob chain ; 1 crown piece George III. or IV.; 1 mackin- tosh,, rather old and worn, with a tear at back slit; about 38/- various coins; 1 youth's waterproof overcoat, with London Central Rubber Coy. on tab inside coat. The medals are engraved " A. Sirett," and the event for which they were given. The word " Oxonian " also appears on them all. Suspicion is attached to A MAN, age about" 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., stoutish build, dark mous- tache; wearing light cap ( too large), light jacket, dark trousers, turn- down collar, lace boots.
