All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions reletting to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POUCH GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S.\ V. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in qurstim to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 83. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of Gs. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 0. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran- teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be, signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ca. i' may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 10. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. y. The force which cuusi s particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tu< sday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Streit Post Office. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if acceptul) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. DENBIGHSHIRE. 10.— Wrexham ( County). — For obtaining by false pretences, 15th inst., a motor cycle side car, wicker frame, upholstered in green leather, lamp bracket at back, transfer, " North Wales Motor Exchange," on mudguard.— JAMES ENTWIS- TLE, age about 22, height about 5 ft, 7 ins., hair brown, clean shaven; dress, brown suit and cap. Had in his possession a Triumph motor cycle, index plate bearing C. K. 373 or 374, which he replaced with C. A. 1137. Supposed identical with WALTER S. ESSEX. 11.— Grays ( County).— For stealing a gold chain, 1 gold pencil case, 1 gold seal, 1 amethyst and pearl brooch, 1 gold ring, 1 silver match- box, 1 meerschaum pipe, 1 brown travelling bag, 12th ult.— ALFRED PETERSON, age 72, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion pale, hair and eyes grey, paralysed right side, drags right foot, impediment in speech; well dressed; usually wears a black felt clerical hat. Stated he was a sea captain; believed a Dane. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Laver, Grays. 12.— Colchester ( Borough).— For stealing a " Rudall Carte " concert flute ( by advertisement in the Exchange and Mart), about 3rd inst.— HENRY H. BARNES ( supposed false), age 36 to 38, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion very fresh, hair ( bald on top) and moustache ( closely cropped) light, 2 small lumps on forehead, of good address; dress, brownish grey tweed jacket suit. VS.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— HALLIDAY, age about 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., stout build, complexion dark, rather full face, clean shaven, one front upper tooth missing, slightly lame; dress, blue serge suit, blue dungaree suit, cap. He took lodgings, represented that he had obtained employment as a fitter. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. KENT. 14.— Ashford ( County).— For housebreaking. — WILLIAM GUTHRIE, age 19, height 5 ft. 4i ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes light blue, boil scar back of neck, left side; dress, green striped jacket, grey trousers, military shoes ( all too small for him). Is a deserter from the 2nd Seaforth Highlanders and believed to belong to the Special Reserve. May endeavour to re- enlist. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones, Ashford. 15.— Chatham ( County).— For stealing a postal packet.— AMELIA CURTISS, age 22, height 5 ft. 3 ins., complexion and hair dark: dress, blue costume, white blouse, brown straw hat. Is accompanied by her husband who per- forms with hand bolts and chains in the streets. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Rhodes, Chatham. 16.— 5 e a b r O O k ( County). — For stealing, 28th December, 1912, a gold watch and chain ( recovered).— ANNIE LANCASTER, alias LONG and SMITH, Office No. 1580- 06 ( see Case No. 94, 13th March, 1913), age 30 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion pale, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, prominent teeth; dress, grey skirt, three- quarter jacket, blue hat with black feathers. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued).— 17.— Folkestone ( Borough).— For stealing, 13th or 14th inst., a lady's gold ring, set sapphire and 2 pearls; 1 gold Mizpah ring; 1 fine gold neck- chain ; 1 silver watch chain, set white stories al- ternate links; 1 old- gold signet ring, set white stone; 3 bead necklaces; 1 coral do.; 2 lady's old- gold dress rings; 1 brown kid hand- bag ; 1 green suede hand- bag; 6 new white linen handkerchiefs; 1 fancy silk corded bag ; 1 navy blue serge coat and skirt; 3 blouses; 1 black straw hat, trimmed black and white ostrich feathers; 2 bronze medals, con- fraternity of the Sacrament; 1 pair lady's brown shoes.— ALICE ROBBIN, age about 30, height about 5 ft., complexion fair, hair golden, front teeth stopped with gold, Scotch accent; may be wearing brown tweed or navy blue coat and skirt, and the above- described hat. She arrived from London 13th inst., to take up a situation as a domestic servant, absconded the following morning. Warrant issued. GAUTHIER, a Frenchwoman, age 45 to 50, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., stout build, complexion swarthy, hair dark ( turning grey), eyes grey, large features, small hands; dress, brown or black skirt, short braided jacket, long black cloak similar to a nurse's, 3 frills round neck, small black beaver hat, wing at side. She represents herself as a teacher of languages, obtains board and lodgings in a respectable locality, defers payment under the pretence that she is expecting a remittance from her brother in France, and eventually ab- sconds. May call upon the Fathers or prominent members of the Roman Catholic community. Has letters addressed to the Post Office. Absconded 9th inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Ramsgate. LANARKSHIRE. 19.— Glasgow ( City).— For stealing Scottish bank notes to the value of £ 63, and a bank cheque for £ 22 19s. Id., on the Royal Bank of Scotland, payable to Mrs. Cissie Stewart and drawn on the account of Neill, Clark and Murray, 2, Argyle Street, Greenock, dated 13th May, 1913.— THO- MAS TAYLOR, alias JAMES STEWART, age 14 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., stout build,, complexion fresh, freckled, hair ( wavy) black; dress, dark grey suit and cap, knee breeches and dark stockings. He was employed as a messenger at a house agent's office. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Glasgow. LANCASHIRE. 20. — Liverpool ( City).— For stealing £ 9 6s. 6d. ( by trick), 14th inst., from his lodgings.— CHRISTIAN HELLWEGE, a German, age 33, height 5 ft. 9 ins., stoops, hair light, clean shaven, nose deformed; dress, brown striped suit, black silk muffler, dark cap, brown boots. A ship's cook. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 21.— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining ci'th, value £ 130 by false pretences.— BEN J A MIN GOLDING, alias COPELAND, MILLAR and MILLARD, Office No. A. 2185, age 35, height 5 ft. 4^ ins., complexion fresh, hair ( curly) dark brown," eyes brown, 2 moles right cheek, brown birthmark left side of nose, brown mole under left eye. Has been convicted at Manchester and Cardiff, an expulsion order was made against him on the latter conviction. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Manchester. 22.— Barrow- in- Furness ( Borough).— For inflicting grievous bodily harm, etc.— JACOB ROBERTS, alias GRIFFITH ROBERTS, HAM- BER, etc., Office No. 1427- 10, age 29, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, coal scar on nose, horseshoe, cross whips and flowers tattooed back right forearm, 2 crosses back left forearm. A labourer; native of Warrington. Has been convicted at Broxton, Warrington, Chester Wigton and Barrow- in- Furness; and JOHN ROBERTS, alias JOHN HAMLET, Office No. 1891- 10, age 31, height 5 ft. 4i ins., complexion swarthy, hair brown, eyes grey, scar left cheek, ship tattooed right forearm, woman, snake, " M. P" left forearm. Has been convicted at Warrington, Leigh, Broxton, Chester, Wigton, Runcorn and Barrow- in- Furness. Had a pair of handcuffs at- tached to one wrist. Rodgers, Mansfield. 5 TA FFORDSHIRE. 27.— Wolverhampton ( Borough).— For stealing a camera, 12 ins. by 10 ins. lens, in canvas case, " New Zealand Studio" thereon; and a fold- ing camera tripod stand, 8th inst.— HENRY FRENCH, age 46, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, thin face, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, heavy moustache dark ; dress, dark mixture tweed suit, black overcoat, dark green cap. M. S. Pembroke on cap ribbon, 2 stripes right arm, wore a medal; may be wearing a first- class petty officer's badge. ' Warrant issued. 29.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— For stealing, 13th inst., a Kildare bicycle, nearly new, frame black enamelled, upturned handle bars, 2 rim brakes, 26- in. frame, Palmer tyres, No. 21924.— FRED SPENCER, age about 40, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., hair and moustache dark, turning grey, wears glasses; dress, dark grey jacket and trousers, blue peak cap. Has served in the Royal Garrison Artillery; since employed as a scene shifter at Swansea, Cardiff and London. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Eastbourne. 30.— Hove ( Borough).— For stealing, 19th inst., a lady's gold keyless watch, in gold expanding bracelet, white dial, plain back; 1 do. chatelaine, consisting of 3 pendants; 1 gold locket; 1 enamel locket; 1 paste diamond brooch, star shape; 1 Bank of England note for £ 5, No. between H/ 91/ 95111 and 95114, issued 10th February, 1912.— MARY SCOTT, alias ALICE ROBBIN, age 30, height 4 ft. 8 or 9 ins., stout build, hair light, front teeth stopped with gold, Scotch accent; dress, brown tweed or navy blue coat and skirt; may be wearing a black straw hat, trimmed black and white ostrich feathers ( stolen at Folkestone). M— Stratford - on - Avon ( County).— For obtaining money by false pretences ( advertise- ment frauds).— ARTHUR MARSON, age 55 to 60, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., good build, complexion ruddy, hair grey, well spoken; dress, dark suit, dark shabby overcoat, bowler hat; carried a brown leather hand- bag; supposed native of Manchester. — RAYMOND WIIITTINGDALE, alias RAY WILSON, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaven, cork leg, which causes him to walk lame; dress, dark coat and vest, light tweed trousers, soft felt hat or cap. Warrants issued. Information to Supt. Lee, Stratford- on- Avon. WILTSHIRE. 32.— Swindon ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 9s. 6d. by false pretences, lst inst.— R. HOWARD, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion sallow, hair light brown, clean shaven; dress, navy blue suit, light rainproof overcoat, felt hat. He represented that he was a traveller, and called on a shopkeeper whose business was for sale and intimated that he knew a person who would pur- chase same. He then agreed with the shopkeeper to value the stock and received the above sum as remuneration. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, County Police, Swindon. YORKSHIRE ( North Riding). 33.— Scarborough ( Borough).— For fraud- ulent bankruptcy.— WILLIAM SCOTT LAW- SON, age 72, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair grey, beard and moustache white, eyes brown, rather nervous disposition; well dressed. Supposed a native of London. May be found in good- class apartments with his son, described in Case No. 34. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdosi. 34.— Scarborough ( Borough).— For embez- zling 10s., between lst July and 31st December, 1912.— CHARLES SCOTT LAWSON, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., broad shoulders, complexion fresh, hair brown, clean shaven, eyes grey, full round face; well dressed. Supposed a native of London. Represents himself as a theatrical manager. May be found with his father, Case No. 33. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 35.— Sheffield { City).— For stealing ( servant) £ 5 3s. lid., between 3rd and 10th inst.— HARRY ARTHUR CRAIG,' age about 32, height 5 ft. 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, awk- ward gait; dress, brown suit, bowler hat. He was employed as Manager of a boot repairing business. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 36.— Sheffield ( City).— For stealing ( servant) £ 17 0s. 6d., 13th inst.— ALBERT AINSLEY, alias FRAZER, age 28 ( looks younger), height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion ruddy, round features, rather prominent nose, hair brown, clean shaven, slightly bow legged, of good address; dress, light brown Scotch tweed coat and trousers, brown vest, hard hat, gold signet ring. A clerk or menagerie atten- dant; supposed a native of Liverpool. Is a reser- vist of the Royal Field Artillery. Has also posed as a light comedian. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 37.— Sheffield ( City).— For stealing £ 12 10s. 5d. from the barracks, lst inst.— GEORGE H. HENSHALL, alias GEORGE JOHNSON, age 22|, height 5 ft. 3J ins., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, scar below left nipple; dress, blue serge jacket suit, light mixture cap. A groom; native of Patricroft, Manchester. Is a deserter from the 2nd Northumberland Fusiliers. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 38. - Sheffield ( City).- For obtaining 2s 3d, by false pretences, 5th inst.— H. WILLIAMS, age 22 to 24, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, full face, hair dark, clean shaven; dress, grey suit, brown overcoat.
