All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. ' 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, i) sufficient to enable the article in questim to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible jor the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences uill be inserted at a cost of 8i. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 64. should be made in the first instance far cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran- teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on W cdnesday, and for the Tuesday edition nut later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forci s should >- e prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. DENBIGHSHIRE. 10.— Wrexham ( County).— For obtaining by false pretences, 15th inst., a motor cycle side car, wicker frame, upholstered in green leather, lamp bracket at back, transfer, " North Wales Motor Exchange," on mudguard.— JAMES ENTWIS- TLE, age about 22, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., hair brown, clean shaven; dress, brown suit and cap. Had in his possession a Triumph motor cycle, index plate bearing C. K. 373 or 374, which he replaced with C. A. 1137. Supposed identical with WALTER S. A good athlete; supposed a native of Ellesmere Port. She arrived from London 13th inst., to take up a situation as domestic servant, absconded the following morning Warrant issued. GAUTHIER, a Frenchwoman, age 45 to 50, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., stout build, complexion swarthy, hair dark ( turning grey), eyes grey, large features, small hands; dress, brown or black skirt short braided jacket, long black cloak similar to a nurse's, 3 frills round neck, small black beaver hat, wing at side. She represents herself as a teacher of languages, obtains board and lodgings in a respectable locality, defers payment under the pretence that she is expecting a remittance from her brother in France, and eventually ab sconds. May call upon the Fathers or prominent members of the Roman Catholic community. Has letters addressed to the Post Office. Absconded 9th inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Ramsgate suit, green tie, dark brown cap, blue Melton over- coat. A native of Leytonstone, Essex.— FRANK GIBSON, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 5 ins., com- plexion fresh, bow- legged ; wearing soft hat, riding breeches and leggings. A native of Twickenham, London. P" left forearm. Has been convicted at Warrington, Leigh, Broxton, Chester, Wigton, Runcorn and Barrow- in- Furness. Had a pair of handcuffs at- tached to one wrist. K. 374, 1913 handle- bars, leather driving belt, piece of black tape around handle- bar, black frame, aluminium tank with red and green lines.— JAMES SHARPLES, age about 22, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion rather pale, round face, South Country accent; dress, dark brown morning suit, dark brown cap, lace boots. NORTHUMBERLAND. 25,— Newcastle- upon- Tyne ( Borough) -— For obtaining a banker's cheque, value £ 3, by false pretences.— T. GRAY, alias CHARLES HAGUE, LEONARD and HAMILTON DENT, Office No. 933- 10 ( see Illustrated Circular No. 97, Fig. 5, and Case No. 31, 4th ult.), age 49, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown ( thin on top), eyes brown; scar under both eyes, left temple, bridge of nose has been broken. A horse dealer, butcher, etc.; native of Middles- brough; and FANNY GRAY, alias SARAH DENT, age 48, height 5 ft. 2 ins., stout build; dress, dark skirt, grey and black check golf cape or caracul jacket. NO TTINGHA MS HIRE. 26.— Mansfield ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 3 6s. 8d.— JOHN LEWIS, age 20, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, peculiar cast in both; dress, navy blue jacket and trousers, black vest, white and green knitted muffler, brown cap, dark brown rainproof coat. LANARKSHIRE. 21.— Glasgow ( City).— For stealing Scottish bank notes to the value of £ 63, and a bank cheque for £ 22 19s. Id., on the Royal Bank of Scotland, payable to Mrs. Cissie Stewart and drawn on the account of Neill, Clark and Murray, 2, Argyle Street, Greenock, dated 13th May, 1913.— JAMES STEWART, age about 16, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, freckled, hair ( wavy) black; dress, dark grey suit and cap, knee breeches and dark stockings. He was employed as a messenger at a house agent's office. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Glasgow. LANCASHIRE. 22.— Ashton- under- Lyne ( County).— For stealing £ 70 from a caravan at Mossley, 8th inst.— WILLIAM CLARK, age 21, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair light; dress, grey suit, black overcoat, dark green cap. A photo- grapher. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Wolver- hampton. SUSSEX ( East). 30.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, lst and 2nd inst. DAVIS, age about 35, slight build, complexion fresh, thin features, hair light, eyes blue, tattooed both forearms; dress, Naval uni- form, H. M. S. Pembroke on cap ribbon, 2 stripes right arm, wore a medal; may be wearing a firsts class petty officer's badge. Warrant issued. 31.— Eastbourne ( Borough).— For stealing, 13th inst., a Kildare bicycle, nearly new, frame black enamelled, upturned handle bars, 2 rim brakes, 26- in. frame, Palmer tyres, No. 21924.— FRED SPENCER, age about 40, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., hair and moustache dark, turning grey, wears glasses ; dress, dark grey jacket and trousers, blue peak cap. Has served in the Royal Garrison Artillery; since employed as a scene shifter at Swansea, Cardiff and London. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Eastbourne. 32.— Hove ( Borough).— For stealing, 19th inst., a lady's gold keyless watch, in gold expanding bracelet, white dial, plain back; 1 do. chatelaine, consisting of 3 pendants; 1 gold locket; 1 enamel locket; 1 paste diamond brooch, star shape; 1 Bank of England note for £ 5, No. between H/ 91/ 95111 and 95114, issued 10th February, 1912. MARY SCOTT, alias ALICE ROBBIN, age 30, height 4 ft. 8 or 9 ins., stout build, hair light, front teeth stopped with gold, Scotch accent; dress, brown tweed or navy blue coat and skirt; may be wearing a black straw hat, trimmed black and white ostrich feathers ( stolen at Folkestone). She obtains situations as a domestic servant, com- mits larcenies and absconds. Is also wanted at Folkestone. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Hove. SUSSEX ( West). 33— Chichester ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— JACK BENNETT, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown, eyes blue, front teeth missing; dress, grey tweed jacket, band at back, brown leather buttons on pocket flaps, red waistcoat, breeches and gaiters, brown cap; West Country accent. Had in his possession a bicycle, pneumatic tyres, Brooks saddle, oil lamp, carrier attached, Singer stamped on fork, No. 1795 on bar under saddle. Warrant issued. Johnson, Brierley Hill. 28.— Wolverhampton ( Borough.).— For embezzling 13s. 2d., 12th ult.— WILLIAM BROMAGE, age 22, height about 6 ft., slight build, sharp features, complexion pale, hair dark brown, clean shaven; dressed, when last seen, in a grey jacket suit, dark grey overcoat, tight- fitting at waist, green cap and tie, lace boots. A baker's salesman; native of Smethwick. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. 29.— Wolverhampton ( Borough).— For stealing a camera, 12 ins. by 10 ins. lens, in canvas case, " New Zealand Studio " thereon ; and a fold- ing camera tripod stand, 8th inst.— HENRY FRENCH, age 46, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, thin face, hair ( turning grey) dark brown, heavy moustache dark; dress, dark mixture tweed WARWICKSHIRE. 34.— Stratford- on- A VOn ( County).— For obtaining money bv false pretences ( advertise- ment frauds).— ARTHUR MARSON, age 55 to 60, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., good build, complexion ruddy, hair grey, well spoken; dress, dark suit, dark shabby overcoat, bowler hat; carried a brown leather hand- bag; supposed native of Manchester. — RAYMOND WHITTINGDALE, alias RAY WILSON, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaven, cork leg, which causes him to walk lame; dress, dark coat and vest, light tweed trousers, soft felt hat or cap. Warrants issued. Information to Supt. Lee, Stratford- on- Avon. WILTSHIRE. 35.— Swindon ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 9s. 6d. by false pretences, lst inst.— R. HOWARD, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion sallow, hair light brown, clean shaven; dress, navy blue suit, light rainproof overcoat, felt hat. He represented that he was a traveller, and called on a shopkeeper whose business was for sale and intimated that he knew a person who would pur- chase same. He then agreed with the shopkeeper to value the stock and received the above sum as remuneration. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, County Police, Swindon. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). 36.— Sheffield ( City).— For stealing ( servant) £ 5 3s. lid., between 3rd and 10th inst.— HARRY ARTHUR CRAIG, age about 32, height 5 ft. 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, awk- ward gait ; dress, brown suit, bowler hat.
