All communications jor insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 63. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaran- teed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen pro- perty to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be re- ceived not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in culva.' ce, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion { if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. He called at a hatter's, pur- chased a silk hat and in payment tendered a worthless cheque for £ 3, drawn on the London & South Western Bank ( Wimbledon Common Branch), payable to self, and received £ 2 6s. change. P., F. N. make, No. 50462, 1913 build , painted grey, 2- speed gear, Englebert tyres; 10th inst.— ALEXANDER GRAHAM, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 10 ins., good build, complexion fresh, sharp features, clean shaven; dress, black leather jacket, grey knickers, stockings and cap. Appearance of a naval officer. He left for London on 14th inst., and had with him a large quantity of luggage, including 4 large trunks. Warrant issued. shaven, old sore on side of nose; dress, dark greasy jacket, blue overalls, soft collar, dark greasy cap. A motor mechanic; believed a native of Manches- ter. LINCOLNSHIRE. 33.— S p a I d i n g ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 5, 15th inst.— FRANK AYRES, age 34, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion dark, hair dark brown, clean shaven; dress, grey jacket and vest, pepper- and- salt- colour trousers and cap, heavy lace boots; of smart appearance. NORFOLK. 34 — Aylsham ( County).— For embezzling £ 2 7s. 3£ d.— FRANK HALL, age 19, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion pale, full face, hair and eyes dark brown ; dress, dark suit and overcoat with strap at back, dark green soft felt hat, lace boots; carried a cane. Simcoe" scratched outside of inner case; 1 silk muffler, chocolate and pale blue; 1 pair lace boots, wide welts, " Bon Ton" stamped inside; 1 pair dark grey socks with red stripes; and 3s. 6d.— RICH- ARD BURROWS ( probably false), age about 26, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion dark, hair brown, clean shaven, peculiar expression of eyes; dress, dark suit, black tie, light rainproof overcoat. He took lodgings, stated he was a dealer and gave his address as Holland Park Gardens, London, W. Absconded 17th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Rodgers, Mansfield. OXFORDSHIRE. 36.— Henley ( County).— For stealing ( bailee), 8th inst., a costermonger's barrow, painted dark blue, white lines, " G. Simmons " painted on off side.— A MAN, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion dark, full face, clean shaven, slightly deaf. A rag and bone gatherer. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. SOMERSE TSHIRE. 37.— Weston- Super- Mare ( County).— For stealing £ 103 5s. 3d.— GERALD WIDLAKE, age 22, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue, front teeth missing, slightly deaf, peculiar muffled voice; dress, navy blue suit, green soft hat, muffler, brown boots. A native of Weston- super- Mare. Has a motor car driver's licence, issued this year. May be found driving a car. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Richardson, Weston- super- Mare. 38.— Bath ( City).— For stealing 13s. 8{ d., 10th inst.— MARK DORRINGTON, alias ALBERT WILLIAM VAUGHAN, ROBERT THOMAS HILDITCH, ALBERT E. McKENZIE and BERT ALBERT, Office No. 1034- 04, age 31, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fair, hair brown, eyes blue; dress, dark grey striped jacket, blue trousers, dark cap, double collar with front com- bined, lace boots, pointed toes, much worn. He was sent to work at a private house, stole the money and decamped. Stays at Church Army and other homes and may have in his possession a work ticket from a Church Army Home. Has been convicted at Essex Sessions, Chelmsford; Hertford, Aylesbury, Hunts., Hants., etc. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Bath. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued ).- 15.— Newport Pagnell ( County).— For being concerned with HARRY HUMPHRIES ( in custody) in obtaining potatoes, etc., by false pre- tences.— JOHN SLOW, alias SLOUGH, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 9 ins., good build, hair and moustache black, peculiar gait; dress, blue serge jacket suit, bowler hat. A dealer; believed a native of Barnet. May be found in company of low horse dealers at fairs or markets. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearce, Newport Pagnell. CA MBRIDGESHIRE. 16.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 2 14s. 6d. by a worthless cheque on the London & South Western Bank, Wimbledon, 15th inst.—- S. DAWSON, age about 35, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., hair and moustache light, small head and eyes, bad front teeth; wearing dark brown over- coat, bowler hat, carried an umbrella. He engaged apartments for two months, called at shops after the Banks had closed, made small purchases and asked that the goods be forwarded to his address the following morning; in each case he presented in payment a worthless cheque for £ 3 and received the balance. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Cambridge. CHESHIRE. n.— Northwich ( County).— For obtaining £ 5 by false pretences, 19th inst,— JIM MOSS ( sup- posed false), age about 27, height 5 ft. 8 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair dark, clean shaven, London accent, rather sharp features, tat- tooed supposed right wrist; dress, black suit green knitted tie, green soft hat, black boots. Had in his possession a safety bicycle, with Sturmey- Archer hub and acetylene lamp. Information to Supt. Thompson, Northwich. DERBYSHIRE. 18.— Matlock ( County).— For stealing, 5th inst., from his lodgings, an 18- ct. gold watch, Lon- don make, open face, Roman numerals, engine- turned back ; 1 gold chain ( recovered).— GEORGE BROOKS ( supposed false), age about 36, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion pale, hair dark, small moustache; tattooed bracelet on wrist, ring on one finger, 2 or 3 teeth missing and broken one upper jaw; dress, dark grey suit, cap, button shoes. Stated he was a native of Portsmouth. Warrant issued. 19 — Matlock ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 by false pretences 9th inst.— WILLIAM GREEN, alias GEORGE TAYLOR, FRED CHARLES THOMPSON and HENRY DICKENSON, age 29, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes hazel, left fingers appear contracted; dress, new navy blue serge suit, light overcoat, bowler hat, black and white spotted tie, suede gloves, lace shoes; wearing silver albert with C. E. M. S. badge attached. A native of Wigan. He obtains money from members of C. E. M. S. by stating he has lost his return railway ticket. See Case No. 22, 4th inst. Warrant issued. DORSETSHIRE. 20.— Wareham ( County).— For stealing £ 11 10s., 7th inst.— WILLIAM EDMUND FRENCH, alias FRASER, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion dark, hair and moustache brown, addicted to drink; dress, dark suit and cap. A printer. Will seek employment through Labour Exchanges. Absconded 7th inst. Warrant issued. 21.— Wareham ( County).— For larceny.— JOSEPH CHARLES DARE, age about 25, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, round face, hair brown, moustache light brown, eyes blue, small mole or wart left cheek, tattooed both arms.
