All communications for insertion in the POLICI GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR ojf THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 5. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension it sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. L Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6J. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. tvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of net less rank than Superintendent; ami if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICB GAZETTB, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, hi} Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted » n payment, but insertion i* the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT l — Convict Supervision Office.— For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence, which has been revoked.— WILLIAM PALMER, Office No. S. 134782, age 20, height 5 ft. 1J ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes hazel, scar centre of forehead and right side of top lip. Sentenced Bristol Assizes, lst July, 1911, to 18 months' detention in a Borstal Institution, for fraud, etc. Released on licence 3rd inst., to the care of the Borstal Association and was pro- vided with board and lodgings in London from which ho has disappeared, having borrowed money from his fellow lodgers, etc. If arrested a tele- gram or telephonic communication should be sent to the Governor, Pentonville Prison, who will send an escort for him. Not to be arrested after 30th June, 1913, on which date his licence expires. 2.— A Division.— For forging and uttering Post Office Savings Bank notice of withdrawal.— ROBERT KUNTZE, age 35, height 5 ft'. 6 or 7 ins., complexion and hair dark, moustache dark brown, square features; dress, blue serge suit, mix- ture overcoat, dark tie. Speaks several languages and English fluently. A native of Westphalia, Germany. Warrant issued. 8,— D Division.— For obtaining money by worthless cheques.— MATTHEW W. MILTON, age 40, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion fresh, hair and short moustache dark, aquiline nose, car- ries head rather stiffly; dress, dark clothes and overcoat, bowler or silk hat. Addicted to drink and associates with loose women. Late of Park Lane, London, W. Warrant issued. 4.— H Division .— For causing grievous bodily harm by stabbing, 10th inst.— HENRY WOOD, alias FRANK LESTER, Office No. S. 72405, age 26, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey ; scars left side of jaw, left foot shorter than right, back slightly deformed, stoops slightly, drags left foot; dress, grey suit, dark blue overcoat, belt at back, hard felt hat. A racing tout; native of Birmingham. £ 10 REWARD. 5.— H Division.— For stealing, il2th inst., two bay geldings, lst, 14J hands, docked short, long scar on hind legs, between tail and hocks; 2nd, 15 hands, long tail; both in good condition. — THREE MEN: lst, age about 40, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complexion, hair and eyes dark, clean shaven, sharp features; wearing dark green mix- ture overcoat, band at back, dark mixture necker- chief, black hard felt hat, lace boots ; 2nd, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, moustache dark; dress, dark mixture suit and neckerchief, grey cap, lace boots; 3rd, age about 40, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion fair, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes grey; dress, grey mixture suit and cap, black neckerchief, lace boots. The above reward will be paid by Mr. William Collins, 595, Commercial Road, E., to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension and conviction of the thieves and recovery of the property, or in proportion to the amount recovered. 6.— N Division.— For absconding from his bail at Essex Quarter Sessions, 19th inst., for at- tempted fraud ( offering homing pigeons with spur- ious pedigrees, for sale).— HARRY GLADSTONE GRUNNILL, age 27, height 5 ft. 10 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair, moustache and eyes brown; dress, brown jacket suit and cap. Sup- posed a native of Lincolnshire. Both natives of Edmonton and belong to the Middlesex Regiment. 8.— S Division.— For obtaining goods by worthless cheques.— F. P. HYDE, alias FRANK FRYER, Dr. FRYER and EDWARD BROOKS, Office No. 2603- 01 ( see Illustrated Circular 64, Fig. 21), age 50, height 6 ft., complexion sallow, hair iron grey, eyes grey ( sunken), clean shaven; wearing light grey overcoat, silk hat, grey spats; smart appearance. Warrant issued. 10.— y Division.— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences.— WALTER BEESON, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., hair and moustache grey, high cheek bones, bouncing gait; dress, blue serge jacket suit, black hard felt hat; of shabby genteel appearance. BEDFORDSHIRE. 11.— Luton ( Borough).— For stealing from their lodgings, 24th inst., 2 bicycles: ( lst, black enamel- led, upturned handle bars, rat- trap pedals, back mudguard tied with string, front grip brake trans- ferred to back wheel, 8 scratched on saddle; 2nd, old and rusty); 1 gold albert with Celtic Football Club. gold medal attached, bearing name of David Adams; and about £ 4 10s.— TWO MEN : lst, age 25 or 26, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion dark, clean shaven, 2 teeth missing: lower jaw; dress, brown and green mixture suit, dark cap and muf- fler, brown boots ( blacked over). A Jew; 2nd, age about 19, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion fresh, full round face; dress, dark suit, cap and muffler. Speaks with North Country accent. Goddard, Wokingham. 13.— Reading ( Borough). — For stealing, 20tli inst., from a hotel, a lady's 9- ct. gold chain, fetter link pattern, has been converted into a double albert j 1 gold heart- shaped locket; 1 silver match- box, chased ivy leaves; and £ 1 15s.— A man, who gave the name of HARVEY, age 30, height 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion dark, believed small dark moustache; wearing dark overcoat, hard felt hat, white wrapper; carried a small brown brief bag. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, Reading. 14.— Windsor ( Borough).— For obtaining 4s. by false pretences. — BAKER, alias ANNIE LANCASTER, SMITH, LONG, etc., Office No. 1580- 06 ( see Illustrated Circular No. 107, Fig. 17), age 30, looks older, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, large oval face, prominent teeth ; dress, black crinoline hat, three- quarter length dark grey coat, white scarf and dark skirt. She obtained various sums of money by calling upon persons who attend Nonconformist places of worship and stated that her mother was dying and had sent for her but that she was un- able to go as she had not the money to pay her fare. BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. 15.— Aylesbury ( County).— For stealing, 18th inst., from a hotel, a quantity of jewellery.— WIL- LIAM MORTON, alias CLARKE, McCLARREN and BURTON, Office No. 2000- 06 ( see Illustrated Circular 102, Fig. 22), age 37, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown; scar bend of right arm, front left forearm, mole left side of neck ; dress, blue serge suit, dark over- coat with strap at back, black bowler hat, lace boots, carries an umbrella with partridge cane crooked handle; of good address and appearance. Native of Caithness. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Aylesbury. 16— High Wycombe '( Borough).— For ob- taining, 22nd inst., £ 9 4s. by a fictitious seaman's advance note for £ 10, payable to H. Williams, of the SS. " Lapland," Dover.— H. WILLIAMS, age about 40 to 45, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache ( cut short) dark; wearing fawn- coloured waterproof coat and dark soft felt hat. He called at the Co- operative Society here and stated he was second officer SS. " Lapland," and that he wished his share capital of £ 50 in their Bristol Branch trans- ferred to the High Wycombe Branch ( false), or- dered goods value 16s., tendered above note and received the change. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, High Wycombe. CHESHIRE. 17.— Crewe ( County).— For stealing a dark grey overcoat, double breasted, belt at back, strap on cuffs; 1 pair reindeer gloves, size 1\; 1 pair light box calf boots, size 7, Derby fronts.— A MAN, age 35, height 5 ft. 6 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, hair and moustache black, eyes very dark; wearing a fawn- colour mackintosh, black woollen jacket, hard felt hat and probably ' the stolen articles. He took lodgings, stating he was an Excise officer. See Case No. 36, 14th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearson, Crewe. 18.— Northwich ( County) — For stealing, 3rd inst., a haircutting machine ( recovered), and 1 razor ( Rogers).— JOHN BROOKS, age 34, height height 5 ft. 7 ins., stiff build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark; dress, dark grey jacket and vest, dark trousers, dark tweed cap; wore a muffler. A native of Winsford, Cheshire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Thompson, Northwich. DERBYSHIRE. ID.— Ilkeston ( County).— For failing to appear to two summonses for indecent assault, between 20th December, 1912, and 9th inst.— JOSEPH JONES, age 47, height 5 ft. 5 ins., com- plexion fresh, hair and moustache brown, peculiar expression in eyes, shuffling gait; dress, old dark clothes and cap, scarf, heavy lace boots. A col- liery housekeeper; supposed a native of Bilston, Staffs. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Walker, Ilkeston. DEVONSHIRE. 20.— Exeter ( County).— For obtaining credit by fraud.— G. JAMIESON, alias CHARLES PEARSON, GRIST, BANKS, FELLOWES and COATS, Office No. 1569- 01 ( see Illustrated Circu- lar No. 96, Fig. 11), age 45, height 5 ft. 4J ins., complexion fresh, hair brown ( bald on top), heavy long light moustache, eyes blue; small scar right side of nose, left thumb deformed; dress, brown mixture tweed suit and cap, green soft hat, drab overcoat; also had a new navy blue suit, " J. G. Matthews, Exmouth," on tab, sewn on the inside pocket of coat, similar name on trousers' buttons. Stops at good- class private lodging houses. He booked by rail from Seaton Junction to Yeovil Junction, 26th ult. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Exeter. ESSEX. 21.— Chelmsford ( County).— For stealing a bicycle, 24- in. frame, black enamelled, lined red, transfer on head Newcombe & Co., Chelmsford, Times transfer on back mudguard, plated rims, Dunlop tyres, rat- trap pedals, black lamp, tool- bag, and plated pump attached; 1 black- handled hollow- ground razor ( Sheffield make); 1 silver watch and chain ( long hand missing); 1 silver ambulance medallion, Ernest J. Healey engraved thereon.— ERNEST WILLIAM LODGE, Office No. 237- 11, age 24, height 5 ft. 5 A ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey; tattooed both arms, upper lip projects slightly; dress, dark overcoat, jacket and vest, blue serge trousers, white necker- chief, coloured stripes, blucher boots; wears leather belt with name of Palmer, Essex Regiment, there- on. Native of Cambridge. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. 22.— Romford ( County).— For housebreaking, 22nd inst., and stealing a lady's gold engagement ring, set 5 diamonds; 1 diamond cluster ring, set emerald in centre; 1 lady's gold interlaced chain keeper ring.— A MAN, age 30 to 35, very slight build, complexion fresh, hair light, moustache gin- ger ; wearing a light- colour coat, bowler hat, brown kid gloves. May have cuts on one hand or on legs. Information to Supt. Hailstone, Romford. 23.— Southend ( County).— F or embezzling, 21st inst., 9s. 8d.— ALBERT SPOONER, age 16, height 4 ft. 10 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, round face; dress, dark jacket suit and cap, red jersey, black boots. An errand boy; native of London. Absconded 21st inst. Had with him a bicycle. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones, Southend. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 24.— Neath ( County).— For stealing a grey overcoat with green stripes, velvet collar, light striped lining, double breasted.— WILLIAM JONES, age about 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., good build, hair dark brown, clean shaven, of rather smart appearance; dress, grey coat and vest, dark trousers, grey cap, new lace boots, leather chain with gilt mounts, carried a rough ash stick. A native of Carmarthenshire. Stated he was an electrician at a colliery. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Evans, County Police, Neath. HAMPSHIRE. 25.— Winchester ( County).— For burglary at Hursley, 21st inst., and stealing a round gold snuff- box, blue enamel lid, 1J ins. diameter, £ to J inch deep; 1 plain silver cigarette case, 3| by 2i ins., monogram " G. W. H." on centre of lid; an Eastman's No. 1 folding pocket camera, expands about 5 ins.; and about £ 20, including about 7s. worth of three- penny pieces.— TWO MEN : lst, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins.; wearing dark grey overcoat, black bowler hat, light boots; 2nd, age about 35, height about 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins.; dress, grey suit and cap or soft hat; carried a small bag. Information to Supt. Smith, County Police, Winchester. HEREFORDSHIRE. 26.— Hereford ( C'ityj.— For stealing ( servant) £ 8, 15th inst.— WILFRED COBBLEDICK, age 14, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., good build; dress, grey knicker suit, cycling stockings, dark overcoat, strap at back, Eton collar, pale green tie. Is believed to have gone to South Wales. Was em- ployed in a builder's office. Information to the Chief Constable, Hereford. HER TFORDSHIRE. 27.— Watford ( County).— For obtaining £ 2 3s. 7d. by a worthless cheque for £ 4 on the London County and Westminster Bank, Victoria Branch, No. A/ T- 93389, dated 21st February, 1913, made payable to self and signed C. Wood, 21st inst.— C. WOOD, age about 35, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., complexion pale, hair light brown; dress, grey overcoat, grey striped trousers, black hard felt hat ( see Case No. 39, 7th inst.). Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Watford. KENT. 28.— Maidstone ( Borough).— For stealing - a new grey striped suit, maker " Simpson, Sun Court, Cornhill," on tab of jacket; 1 light Scotch tweed cap; 1 pearl horseshoe pin.— WILLIAM HENRY WOOLFORD, age 25*, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes blue. Is an absentee from H. M. S. " Goliath." Was wearing naval uniform which has since been found, and he is no doubt wearing the stolen clothing. A native of Severnside, Maisemore, Gloucester. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Maidstone. LANCASHIRE. 29.— Liverpool ( City).- Fov larceny ( lodgings), 19th inst.— A MAN, age about 27, height about 5 ft. 6 ins., hair, eyes and slight moustache dark; appearance of a foreigner; wearing black morning coat, trimmed braid, tan- colour boots. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. NORTHAMPTONSHIRE. 30.— Peterborough ( City).— For stealing ( from his lodgings) a ring ( recovered).— THOMAS FINCH, age 23, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., slight build; of smart appearance, dark shifty eyes, very large long nose, dark moustache; dress, black suit and overcoat, bowler hat with mourning band, black tie, large white silk muffler, lace boots. Stated he was a foreman for a Scottish firm of patent bread and biscuit makers, also for a jam firm, in London. Warrant issued. ' • Information to the Chief Constable, Peter- borough. SHROPSHIRE. 31.— Oswestry ( County).— For stealing two chimney brushes; 12 cane rods; 1 sweeping cloth. — ABRAHAM HILL, age 40 to 45, height about 5 ft., complexion sallow, hair and ragged mous- tache dark brown; dress, old suit, muffler, cap and heavy boots. A chimney sweep; native of Oswestry. Absconded 19th December, 1912. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hamlet, Oswestry. 32 .— Wellington ( County).— For stealing, 14th inst., a silver- plated B- flat cornet, maker Courtois, Paris, 3 keys, double water key, Bessons mouthpiece, in a black leather case, lined blue flannel.— THOMAS DELANEY, age 27, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, long features, hair ( long and curly) black, clean shaven, eyes brown, usually wears pince- nez, walks erect; dress, navy blue suit, long dark tweed overcoat, dark tie, tan- colour boots, green soft hat. A hairdresser; sup- posed a native of America. Is fond of reading and singing. Was a member of the Wellington Band; has also played the cornet at picture palaces. Had in his possession a lady's dressing basket, initials " H. P." on one of the straps; 1 navy blue jacket; 1 pair navy blue cycling knickers; a brass B- flat cornet, made by Hawkes; 1 suit of blue uni- form, trimmed gold hraid, red flaps over pockets, red stripe 1 inch wide on trousers. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Fulcher, Wellington. STAFFORDSHIRE. M.- Burton- on- Trent ( County).— For obtaining money by false pretences.— ARTHUR KEAST, age 23, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, complexion fair, hair light, eyes believed blue; dress, brown striped suit. Supposed a native of Hereford. He represented himself as agent for a firm at Worcester, obtained an order for goods and gave a receipt with name of the firm printed thereon. Warrant issued.
