THE EDITOR, New Scotland Yard, London, S. W. SPECIAL INQUIRY. 1.— LIEUT. H. L. CLARK, an assist- ant surgeon, now in custody at Agra, India, for Murder, is believed to have used gelsemine hydrochlorate in commit- ting the crime. A bottle marked " one dram " and containing a quantity of the drug was found at his house, but the enquiries in that country have failed to trace the place of purchase. Lieut. Clark is thought to have purchased it through the post in July, August or September, 1911, and the police at Agra ask that enquiries be made by all Police Forces in the United Kingdom, with a view to trace the sale. It is said that the drug, in the quantity stated, could have only been purchased from a manufacturer of the drug, a wholesale druggist or manufacturing chemist. It is requested that inquiry be made by all Police Forces in the United Kingdom, and that in the event of the sale to Lieut. Clark being traced, the name and address of the seller, with the date and year of sale be at once forwarded to the Assistant Commissioner, C. I.
