All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- • tions relating to them, should be addresstd to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8 « . per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( js. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not Uss rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous then to. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on \ V< ilnesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by 1 ostal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. THE KDTTOTI. New Scotland Yard, London, S. W. SPECIAL NOTICE. £ 100 REWARD. MURDER. 1,— Whereas at 7.30 a. m., 16th November, 1912, the bodies of two girls, age 7 and 10 years, respectively, were found murdered in a field; an olive Ringwood woollen glove, man's size for right hand, in a greasy condition, was found near the bodies, also impressions of cord trousers, which tend to show that the murderer was of the labour- ing class. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, Rotherham, by whom the above reward will be paid to any person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the person or persons who committed the crime. A sailor: native of Blaenau Festiniog. Warrant issued. 6.— Holyhead ( County).— For stealing ( servant) a new navy blue overcoat, belt with 2 buttons across back, black buttons with anchor thereon, very deep collar; 1 pair navy blue serge ( uniform) trousers, makers, " Wheatley & Lewis, Liverpool," may be thereon; 1 vest, pepper- and- salt colour, rather light, 2 pairs braces, " Bull's Eye " trade- mark on each; 1 pair stockings, brown with 2 red bands at knees; 1 silk muffler, dark blue with faint red and white stripes; 1 Goudrin meerschaum pipe.— HAROLD ACRES, alias AYRES, age 22 or 23, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion fair, hair light; wearing the stolen clothing. CHESHIRE. 1— Altrincham ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 5s. by false pretences at Lymm.— JAMES SPENCER, age 37 or 38, height about 5 ft. 10 ins., broad and powerful build, complexion and eyes dark, hair and moustache black; dress, old dark brown mixture tweed suit, r> eak cap, coloured bangle on right wrist. Stated he belonged to the Royal Garrison Artillery; that he was employed in the Dockyard at Portsmouth, and that he would lose his situation and pension if he did not return by the following morning. S.— Renishaw ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings at Killamarsh, 28th ult., a wooden pipe; 1 pouch; 1 razor; 1 pocket- knife and a handkerchief.— CHARLES PEARCE, age 36, height 5 ft. 11 ins., complexion and hair ( turning grey) dark, eyes brown, tattooed both arms ; dress, brown suit or black jacket and vest, old cord trou- sers, cap. DORSETSHIRE. 9.— Shaftesbury ( County)— For obtaining £ 5 by a seaman's forged advance note at Gilling- ham, 23rd ult.— GEORGE BOOTH, age about 40, height about 5 ft. 8 ins., hair and moustache brown or ginger; dress, navy blue suit, double- breasted coat with brass buttons, peak cap, badge in front, black bow tie. He called upon a grocer, ordered goods and in payment produced a note for £ 10, payable to G. Booth by Messrs. Evan Radcliffe, 4, Dock Chambers, Cardiff, issued by C. Thompson, Master, obtained £ 5 and stated his wife would call for the balance. He committed a similar offence at Bristol in March, 1911, when he gave the name of W. Moore. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to Supt. Bowles, Shaftesbuiy. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 10.— Aberdare ( County).— For warehouse- breaking and larceny.— DAVID RICHARD DA VIES, Office No. S. 150239, age 18, height 4 ft. 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, clean shaven; blue scar right ear, scar left cheek, anchor tattooed back right forearm. A collier ; native of Trede- gar ( Mon). Has been several times convicted of shopbreaking and larceny, and was last sentenced to 18 months in a Borstal Institution, being dis- charged on licence to the care of the Borstal Asso- ciation on the 10th April, 1912. Sentence expired 17th October last. Information to Supt. Rees, Aberdare. 11.— Cardiff ( City)— For abandoning her two children, 13th ult.— ESTHER FARMER, alias HESTER FARMER, age 25, medium height, complexion fresh, hair brown; dress, navy bhie jacket, lined black material with white stripes, navy blue skirt, brown hat with imitation poppies, lace boots. A tailoress. He calls at dairies, repre- sents that he is a relative of the person who sup- plies the milk, and obtains money to enable him to return home. Warrant issued. Liberated 3rd May, 1912, 1842; subsequently sentenced at Man- chester, 5th August, 1912, to 3 months' hard labour for frequenting, and liberated 21st October, 1912. ALFRED SAUNDERS, age about 22, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, clean shaven; dress, dark suit and cap, lace boots; may be wearing the stolen overcoat; Southern accent. STAFFORDSHIRE. 28.— Lichfield ( County).— For stealing a soldier's kit, 25th ult. - GEORGE BIRCH, alias SHELLY, age 46, height 5 ft. 4i ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark, " eyes grey; dress, dark blue serge suit, light brown cap, dark muffler, brown lace boots. W.— Wednasbury ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings, 27th ult., a dark grey overcoat, black lining, buttons to match, and a pair light lace boots, pointed toes, recently soled and heeled. Salt, Wednesbury. 30.— Stoke- on- Trent [ Borough).— For having unsound meat for sale on his premises.— JOHN JACKSON, age about 38, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion, hair and moustache dark. SUFFOLK ( East). 31.— Lowestoft ( County),— For leaving his wife chargeable to the Mutford and Lothingland Union.— CHRISTOPHER ALFRED DAY, age about 50, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., hair and mous- tache sandy, may be wearing a beard, eyes blue. A native of Lowestoft. For many years he was in business as a furniture dealer and picture- frame maker. Left Lowestoft 3 years ago. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. A reward of £ 1 will be paid by the Guardians of the Mutford and Lothingland Union, for infor- mation leading to the arrest, and XI for the arrest of Day. SURREY. 32.— Woking ( County).— For stealing fiom his lodgings, 27th ult., a Triumph bicycle, transfer on head, black enamelled frame, two- speed gear, flat handle- bars, green handles, rubber pedals, roller chain, Hermetic back tyre, old front tyre, triangu- lar tool- bag.— ARTHUR WELLS, age about 25, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., full face, hair ( curly in front) and moustache curled at ends brown, several teeth missing right side, tattooed both armsj dress, dark grey tweed jacket and vest, light grey trou- sers, dark cap. Stated he was a reservist and had obtained employment at a local nursery. Ab- sconded 27th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marks, Woking. 33. — Guildford ( Borough).— For stealing, 2nd inst., a dark grey overcoat, velvet collar.— ARTHUR WILLS, alias WELLS, age about 30, height 5 ft. 10 ins., good build, complexion fresh, hair light brown, slight moustache ( waxed at ends), horse on one forearm, scar right cheek and left arm; dress, dark brown jacket and trousers, grey mixture vest, navy blue cap, dark wrapper, boots with plain front, protectors in soles. Is believed a reservist of the Dragoon Guards. Stated he had obtained employment as carman at a local brewery. Information to the Chief Constable, Guildford. Information to the Chief Constable, Eastbourne. 35.— Hastings ( Borough).— For shopbreaking and stealing £ 24 5s.— A MAN, age 26 to 30, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fair, hair light, clean shaven; North Country accent; appearance of a gipsy; dress, grey suit, dark overcoat, green cap, coloured wrapper. Stated he came from Manches- ter, 24th ult., and was going on to Plymouth. 36.— Hastings ( Borough.). — For deserting his wife.— EDWARD BILSBY, age 29, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion dark, hair, moustache and eyes black, woman, clasped hands, heart and other marks on arms; dress, brown jacket, blue guernsey, brown cord trousers, green cap, heavy boots. A hawker; native of Hastings. Had in his posses- sion a pedlar's certificate issued at Windsor, Decem- ber, 1911, in name of Jack Smith. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Hastings. WORCES TERSHIRE. 37.— Evesham ( County).— For embezzling £ 14, monies of a benefit society, of which he was secretary.— ERNEST RICHARD HOPKINS, age 36, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes dark; holds head downwards \ vhen walking; dress, light tweed lounge jacket and vest, breeches and leggings, light cap; carried a dark overcoat.
