Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one. issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they arc sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all eases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. o. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserti d at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ( is. per photograph or slcitch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. .4 remittance of 6s. shmild br made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. En ry announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed hi/ the signature of an officer of not less rank than Sup/ rintendf nt; and if the name of such person is required to b• in ited and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of tin county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property; must br guaranteed by an officer nf not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanicd by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Ordir, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. DURHAM. 16.— Gateshead ( Borouqh).— For stealing, £ 1 by trick, 29th ult.— JAMES WATSON, alias ROBERTSON, CRAIG and GREEN, Office No. 1277- 04, age 53 ( looks younger), height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache grey, eyes biue, tattooed " Annie Love" right forearm; speaks with slight Scotch accent; dress, blue suit and cap. He enters provision shops, wearing an apron and without a hat and orders provisions to be sent to a local public- house; later he returns and asks if a sovereign can be changed for the landlord, and having obtained same absconds. MAR- TIN, age 50, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., square shoulders, complexion fresh, rugged features, hair ( turning grey) dark, moustache iron grey, of mili- tary appearance; dress, khaki uniform and cap with badge of the Hampshire Regiment, or navy blue suit, much worn; sometimes wears dark pilot jacket. Represents himself as a captain of the 5th Hampshire Regiment, also that he may be connected with the Royal Flying Corps; visits first- class hotels. Has visiting- cards with " Capt. G. Tr a ffo r d ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings at Stretford, 9th inst., an Ingersoll metal watch, keyless, white dial, black hands, in bone case; 1 silver curb albert; 1 metal tobacco box and 4s. 4d.— A MAN, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( going bald) and eyes grey; dress, dark coat, vest and cap, overalls, lace boots. Stated he was a fitter. Had with him a black enamelled bicycle. Information to Supt. Crossley, County Police, Old Trafford. 29.— Liverpool ( City).— For obtaining £ 15 by false pretences, 23rd ult. ( by disposing of furni- ture obtained on the hire purchase system).— CHARLES ROBERT MAY, alias OLIVER, age 30,- height 5 ft. 10 ins., slight build, complexion, hair and eyes dark, Jewish nose, shows teeth, clean shaven; London accent. A betting man. Usually has with him two or more pomeranian dogs. May be accompanied by a woman ( not wanted), age 25, height 5 ft. 4 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, refined features, hair dark; dress, black velvet dress, black straw hat, trimmed red roses. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 30 .— Manchester ( City).— For stealing ( servant) a lady's rolled- gold keyless watch, plain white dial, steel hands, black numerals, long gold chain, old pattern, attached; 1 gold necklet, oval pendant, containing photographs of a gentleman and boy, attached; 1 gold brooch, leaf pattern, bird in centre, set pearls and amethyst; 2 three- penny pieces made into earrings in a red morocco case, lined velvet; 1 metal watch and chain; 1 black serge suit, large pocket inside for carrying books; 1 pair blue striped trousers, new; 1 grey serge vest; 1 navy blue coat.— JAMES BROWN, age about 50, height 5 ft. 7A ins., complexion ruddy, bald, moustache iron grey, eyes ( large) grey; Lancashire accent; dress, grey coat and vest, dark trousers, green cap, lace boots. The goods were ordered by telephone, and after they had been delivered the above described called and obtained possession of them by stating they had been sent to the wrong address.
