Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions mult be clearly stated. it. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of Ss. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6 » . should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. • 3. Mvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 0. 10 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear m number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZBTTB, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsibU for any proceedings which may result frvm tuch publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should b » forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. Tliev caused advertisements to be inserted in the local newspapers, of bicycles, furs, and gramophones to be sold at great sacrifice, and in this way disposed of about 30 worthless bi- cycles and absconded, but in due course were arres- ted at Blackpool, and committed to take their trial on the 13th inst., bail being allowed. May be found residing with their two children, the elder of whom is named George Hewes, age 14 years. They may also have with them a woman named Maud Flory, age about 26, tall and dark. He called at the Post Office for a letter, and stated he expected to receive a money- order with same, asked the clerk to advance him £ 2 until 10 a. m. the following morning, leaving what appeared to be a gold watch with the clerk; at a. m. the next day he called, cashed a money- order, and absconded. The watch was afterwards found to be a new cheap one.
