GAZETTE PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY. NEW SERIES. FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 1912. VOL. XXIX., No. 2984. 1. All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to TIIE EDITOE OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YAUD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted m one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, it they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one ifJue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person r< sponsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be. clearly stated. o. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. should be made tn the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. ; 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear • number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wninesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must b> clearly written on on* side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. IS. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 18. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion t » the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should bo prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within tk* United Kingdom. . Stated he had worked at Rugby and Wolverton. 9— Newport Pagnell ( County).— For stealing ( servant) 13s. 6d., and 19 National Insur- ance cards, each bearing a 7d. stamp, 29th ult., at Bletchley.— FREDERICK WALTERS, age 26, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fair, hair brown, eyes blue, extensively tattooed on arms and chest, walks badly; dress, light grey mixture suit, rubber collar with black lines, lace boots. They hired the bicycles, stating they were engineers, and wanted them for the purpose of riding to a mill about four miles from the town. Warrant issued. CHESHIRE. 11— Birkenhead ( County).— For bigamy.— JOSEPH LOWE, alias JOHN HARRIS, age 32, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( wavy) light brown, eyes blue, small fleshy lump behind left ear; dress, dark navy blue suit with faint light stripes, plaid tie, light cap, lace boots. An iron- worker ; native of Wednesbury. Is a good pianist. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Farnworth, County Hall, Birkenhead. 13.— Dukinfield ( County).— For obtaining £ 4 by false pretences at Broadbottom, 7th ult.— ALFRED JONES, age about 30, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown, tombstone and R. I. P. right arm, woman both forearms; dress, brown jacket and vest, dark trousers, light brown cap, new brown boots; of horsey appearance. CUMBERLAND. 15.— Workington { County).— For stealing ( bailee), 22nd ult., a Royal Enfield girder- frame bicycle, 24- in. frame, 28- in. wheels, Dunlop tyre back wheel, Gamage tyre front do., upturned handle bars, roller lever brakes, bottom parts of front brake missing, mudguards, rubber pedals, enamel and plating in bad condition.— HENRY PRIMROSE, age 24, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., com- plexion dark, clean shaven; dress, dark jacket suit, gery cap; may be wearing a light grey striped vest. Stated he was an electrical engineer from Barrow- in- Furness. See Case No. 7, 26th ult. Warrant issued. 16.— Workington [ County).— For unlawfully pawning two silver watches ( recovered).— ED- WARD MARTIN AYRE, age 42, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, turning grey, eyes grey, cut scar right side of nose, small growth on tongue; dress, dark suit, cap, strong boots. A watch maker; but for some years has followed labouring work at public works, and dur- ing spare time has repaired clocks and watches. Addicted to drink. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. He was employed to collect money for a show on the sands, and on the 26th ult., called at the office of the lessee of the pitch, stated he was sent for the wages, obtained same and absconded.
