W. 3. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted M one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. Particular> as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. 1 n ail cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 4 Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be hightr. A remittance of 6s. should bo made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 3 Xvery announcement, if for th* apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by tht signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if th* name of aueh person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the rtquirition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immtdiat* deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the tan may bo, 7. A mouneements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by « n officer of not Itss rank than Inspector, or analogous thimto. tJ. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties 9. The force which cuusis j/ articvlars concerning delinquents or stolen prop'ity to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring tu the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the ofjieir signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. 7' l" y must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. METROPOLITAN POLICE DISTRICT 1.— Convict Supervision Office.— For failing to comply with the conditions of his licence, which has been revoked.— JAMES GALE, alias REDMAN, Office No. S. 108,407, age 22, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue; small scar left side of face. A labourer; native of Dorking. Licensed 8th May last to the care of the Borstal Association, who sent him to Cardiff, but he decamped, and is new believed to be tramping to London. Order of revocation at this office. Sentence expires 19th April, 1913, after which date he must not be arrested. If arrested a telegram or telephonic communica- tion should be sent to the Governor of Penton- ville Prison, who will send an escort for him. 2.— A Division.— Tot stealing £ 16, 26th ult.— FRANCIS JOWETT, age 18, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes blue, very reserved; dress, dark green mixture jacket suit, dark tie, lace boots. A native of Tooting. 3.— C Division.— For stealing ( visitor) 23rd ult., a quantity of jewellery ( recovered).— JACK HARTMAN, alias WOOLF, FOX, and D. KIMPLE, an American, age 26, height 5 ft. 4| ins., complexion dark hair black, eyes dark brown ; of Jewish descent and appearance; dress dark jacket suit, black bowler hat, carried a light rain coat. 4 — C Division.— For obtaining by false pretences on 18th and 26th February, 1912, two cheques for £ 80 and £ 10 respectively.— JOHN BRISCOE IRONSIDE, age about 30, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fair, long thin face and nose, hair brown, slight moustache light, eyes ( supposed) grey; dresses well, usually wears a soft hat. Be- lieved a native of Florence, Italy. Warrant issued. 5 — C Division.— For obtaining £ 2 by false pretences.— FREDERICK McCULLOUGH, age 24, height 5 ft. 8 ins., comnlexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue; dress, light jacket, fancy vest, black and white breeches, brown gaiters and boots, light tie, soft green hat. A native of Wick Hill, Stow- in- the- Wold, Gloucestershire. Warrant issued. 6.— G Division. - For obtaining £ 50 by false pretences.— HENRY JAMES BECK, age 50, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, long thin face, hair and moustache light, turning grey, eyes grey; dress, dark tweed suit, hard felt hat. Warrant issued. 8.— K Division.— For embezzling £ 1 4s.— ISAAC ARTHUR JACOBS, age 25, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion, hair, slight moustache and eyes dark, red mark under one eye, wart on chin; dress, grey cycling suit, grey cap, metal badge thereon, dark tie, lace boots. A native of London. Warrant issued. 9. - W Division. — For forgery— CHARLES CLAY, age 35, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fair, hair light, eyes grey; dress, blue serge suit, black hard felt hat, lace boots. A commercial traveller; native of London. May be found in company of women. He received a cheque in payment for goods supplied, which he endorsed and paid to his own account. Warrant issued. Has been employed as storekeeper in a engineering works. Belongs to the North Staffordshire Special Re- serve. Information to the Chief Constable, Bedford. BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. 12.— High Wycombe- ( Borough,).— For stealing an Excelsior quarter- plate folding double- extension camera, 18th ult., and extracting two blank cheques from a cheque book, which have since been filled in and uttered.— HANS LUNDH, alias OTTO NILSSON, NELSOM, BROX, BENNETT, DRAKE, LIEUT. DEVONSHIRE. 13.— Exeter ( City).— For stealing. 22nd ult., a watch ( recovered), 1 silver curb- pattern chain with silver pencil case, dark stone one end, attached, and 7s.— NORMAN DRAKE BROWNING, age 21 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 4J ins., slight build, complexion fresh, sharp features, hair browu, slight moustache, usually twisted at ends, rather down- cast expression; dress, green mixture suit, green cap, dark tie, lace boots. A hotel hoots; native of Torquay. Previously convicted at Saltash, Stone- house, and Exeter, was liberated from prison about a fortnight ago. Absconded 22nd ult. Warrant issued. A coal miner or stonemason. Stated he was a native of Nottingham. A miner ; is a member of the Durham Miners' Association, Card No. 1899. HAMPSHIRE. 19— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For gross indecency with a lad age 11 years, 11th ult.— FILDES MOODY, alias SLEN, age 35, height 6 ft. 3 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, small round face, hair dark, slight moustache light, eyes blue, scar left forefinger, shot mark left leg. A navvy. Is well known at Tilbury Docks. Absconded 14th ult. Warrant issued. 20 Portsmouth < Borongh).— For stealing £ 2 3s. Id., 29th ult.— BESSIE CHESTER, age 30, height 5 ft. 8 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair brown : dress, light cream- colour blouse, blue serge coat and skirt, white straw hat, had with her a cardboard hat box. Was employed as a cook at a hotel from 9th to 29th ult., when she absconded with the money which had been en- trusted to her to pay an account. Warrant issued. Travels the country collecting scrap- iron, etc.; is well known at Crewe, Chester, Long- ton and the Potteries, has been known to visit sea- side places with donkeys. Warrant issued. He engaged a room at a hotel, reoeived a letter, evidently posted by himself, which contained a Post Office money order, issued at Southall, for Is. lid., and had been al- tered to £ 4 Is. lid., which he induced the pro- prietor to cash. He trades as the Co- operative Trading Association, Elizabeth Terrace, Eltliam, Kent, and has obtained a quantity of mole skins from different parts of the country, also small sums of money on coupon system for cloth- ing, boots, etc., principally in South Wales, and has failed to execute orders received. SCOTT, alias MORTON, age 60, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion pale, hair, moustache, pointed beard and bushy eyebrows grey, large nose cast in one eye, drooping lids, wears pince- nez or spectacles, of good address and smart appear- ance; dress, black frock coat, dark tweed trousers, and overcoat, velvet collar, green soft felt hat, lace boots. A photographer; may be found using the camera at seaside resorts. Absconded 30th April last. SPECIAL 42.— A Division.— For obtaining money by a forged and altered Post Office Savings Bank de- posit book, also by forged and altered Post Office money orders.— HENRY EDWARD CLARKE KING, alius DENNISON, WILLIAMS, SMITH, etc., Office No. 2781- 01 ( see Illustrated Circular 77, figure 12, also Cases 31, 1st, 13. 22nd, and 8 and NOTICE. it was issued, and then induces hotel keepers or tradesmen to cash the same. Usually tries to gain the confidence of managers, etc., of residential hotels, by leaving with them letters alleged tu contain important plans or documents, and by hav- ing registered and express letters addressed to him- self at the hotels.
