All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOB OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YAKD, LONDON, S. VV. 3. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, 1/ they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. S. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. t. / ft all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must bi clearly stated. S. Portraits 0' Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offcnces will be insrrtril ' it a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost ol ' ij. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6j. should be vndc in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. fl. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be, 7. Announcements concerning itolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causi s particulais co naming delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETIS, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be receivd not later than noon on XVcdm sday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. Tin y must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. Tie Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persnns" art only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if oirepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should bt prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. A native of London. 10.- y Division— For stealing a lady's 5 stone diamond ring, half hoop; 1 plain gold brace- let, buckle pattern, much dented; 1 18- ct. gold double fetter albert chain, worn as a bracelet; 4 coins ( 1 £ 2 piece; 1 Garter sovereign, dated 1817; 1 half sovereign; 1 Chinese with Pagoda thereon), attached; 1 15- ct. gold Brazilian necklet; 1 pair gold earrings, King pattern, size of a farthing.— FRANK ROBINSON alias MERTON, age 48 to 50, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, stubby moustache, eyes hazel, wears gold rimmed glasses, fasten over ears, prominent nose : dress, dark grey jacket suit and cap, lace boots, sometimes wears an overcoat. Supposed a native of Hackney, London. Represented him- self as a ship's steward. BLOWFIELD, CLIFFORD and UPTON, Office No. 2098- 07, age 44, height 5 ft. 11| ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustaohe iron grey, eyes blue; dress, dark jacket suit ( greasy), white collar, greenish tie, grey cap. He obtains lodgings and represents that he is employed as a telephone wireman on the railway, rises early and commits larceny, principally cloth- ing. 13.— Y Division.— For attempting to obtain money by false pretences ( alleging a bogus acci- dent).— GEO. DAVIES, alias GIBSON, ROGERS, and BEST, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft, 6 or 7 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, full face, hair ( thin on top) light, heavy moustache ginger, eyes ( deep sunken) blue; dress, frock coat and vest, grey striped trousers, silk hat, lace boots. CITY OF LONDON. 14.— For obtaining £ 500 by false pretences — — HENRY VALE PETER NICOLAS or NICHO- LAS, age about 40, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion blotchy, full face, pimples on nose, clean shaven; diess, grey tweed jacket suit, black hard felt hat. A company promoter. Accompanied by a woman, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 7 ins., hair light, fashion- ably dressed ( may be wearing a long dark fur coat), and a child, age about 2 months. Had with them 2 large black leather trunks, a brown leather suit case, several small leather handbags and a bundle of umbrellas and sticks. Absconded 14th inst. Warrant issued. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued)— BU CKINC HA MS HI RE. 16.— High Wycombe ( County).— For steal- ing, 28th August, 1911, a black mare.— JASON SCARRETT, alias JOHN GREEN, Office No. 2126- 99, age 42, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, two hairy moles left of face; dress, dark mixture jacket suit, cap, and muffler. Is accompanied by his wife and two children. Travels the country with a four- wheeled van, light coloured cover. A gipsy, may be found in company of low horse dealers. See Case 62, lst September, 1911. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Trevener, High Wycombe. CHESHIRE. 17.— Crewe ( County).— For stealing £ 5 from a dwelling house.— JOSEPH JONES, age 35, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., good build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, blind left eye, addicted to drink; dress, black jacket suit, old- fashioned turn- down collar with points, dark grey cap, strong lace boots. Warrant issued. 18.— Crewe { County .— For obtaining food and lodgings, 2s. 6d., and a dark skirt with grey stripe, by false pretences between 3rd and 20th inst.— MAUD JONES, age 36, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., complexion sallow, hair brown, turning grey, eyes dark brown, 3 scars light of neck, several front upper teeth missing, speaks with Welsh accent; dress, long dark blue coat, heliotrope velvet hat, light blouse, with green jersey underneath and the stolen skirt; usually wears a dark veil. Stated her husband had gone to America, and that the firm for which he previously acted as traveller were giving her £ 60 to set up in business. Accompanied by a boy, age about 3 years, very fair, wearing green knitted suit, with hat to match, light over- coat. See Cases 28, 12th April and 16, 19th April. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. IS.— Oakmere ( f'ounty).— For forging a cheque for £ 7 10s., at Tarvin on or about 14th inst.— MARY DAVlES, age 28 or 29, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., complexion dark, round face, hairy mole one cheek and birth mark on one hand ( red rash); dress, black princess robe dress trimmed black silk, black buttons each side and on sleeves, long black coat, black hat trimmed with daisies; sometimes wears a veil, buttoned boots. She left Tarvin 17th inst. A domestic servant; native of St. Asaph, N. Wales. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Beeley, Oakmere. DERBYSHIRE. 20.— ReitishaW ( County).— For stealing 4s. Id., from gas meter, lst inst.— JOHN BARGH, alias STEVENS, STEPHENSON, and BROWN, Office No. 1824- 07 ( see Cases 12, 16th February, 35, 29th Maroh, 26, 5th, and 31, 12th April, 1912), age 35, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair and eyes grey, " Blue scar centre of forehead, back of head, scar back right wrist; dress, blue serge jacket and vest, dark cord trousers, cap, white muf- fler, strong boots. ESSEX. 22.— Chelmsford ( County).— For leaving his child chargeable to the Chelmsford Union, 14th ir. st.— BERT GLAD WELL, age 27 to 30, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair brown, carries his head slightly forward. A carpenter; native of London. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, • Chelmsford. 23.— Dunmow ( County)— For demanding £ 50 with menaces, lst ult.— SAM MAZZONE, age 16£, height 5 ft. 1 or 2 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, oval face, hair ( inclined to be bristly) black, eyes supposed dark blue, stoops slightly right side; dress, dark blue serge suit, dark cap, lace boots. An organ grinder. Speaks English and Italian. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Day, Dunmow. 24-— Rochford ( County^.— For stealing property described in Case 47, 17th inst.—- FREDERICK WATSON, age 45 to 50, height about 5 ft. 9 ins., hair ( turning grey) light, bald on top, scar under right side of chin, takes short quick steps, poisoned left foot. A hairdresser, native of Dereham, Norfolk. Believed to have been pre- viously convicted. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Scott, Rochford. 25 — Southmlnster ( County).— For leaving his wife chargeable to the Common Fund of Mal- don Union on 31st January, 1912.— ALFRED BECKWITH, age 44, height 5 ft. 7 ins., very thin build, complexion dark, hair dark brown, tattoo marks both arms; dress light jacket suit, brown cap, lace boots with toe caps. A labourer; native of Tolleshunt Knights, Essex. Has served in the Army. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Smith, Southminster. SSL A MO RCA NSHIRE. 26.— Cardiff ( City)— For obtaining a suit of clothes by false pretences.— GEORGE DA VIES, age 30, height 5 ft. 3£ ins., slight build, complexion fresh, oval face, hair ( bushy) brown, moustache sandy, eyes blue; dress, dark jacket, light trousers with dark stripes, straw hat with black band, wears a Christian Endeavour badge in coat. A collier; believed a native of Pontnewynydd. Will probably call upon reverend gentlemen and secre- taries of Christian Endeavour Societies. Warrant issued. 27 .— Cardiff ( City).— For embezzlement— FREDERICK J. SPEARE, age 23, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, complexion pale, hair brown, clean shaven, right hand and arm de- formed ; dress, dark grey suit, white muffler, cap, old boots. A common lodging house deputy. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 28.— Gloucester ( County).— For being con- cerned in stealing £ 14 10s., and a Postal Order for 4s. 3d.— HARRY BROGDEN, age 36, height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair, moustache ( in- clined to sandy) and eyes brown; dress, blue suit, bowler hat with flat brim. A native of Manchester. Frequents race meetings and associates with book- makers. He called at a boot shop, induced the shopman outside to point out a pair of boots in the window, during which time one of two men ( in custody) entered the shop and took the money and order from the till. HAMPSHIRE. 2!)— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For embez- zling £ 91.— GEORGE ERNEST SIMMONS, age 40, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, thin features, hair, slight moustache and eyes ( full) dark, may be clean shaven; dress, blue diagonal suit, green tie, green soft hat. Was em- ployed as Chief Cashier by the Portsmouth Cor- poration Tramways. Apprehended. See Case No. 92. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. HER TFORDSHIRE. 30.— Hemel Hempstead ( County).— For obtaining £ 5 by false pretences at North- church, 19th ult.— EDWIN WILLIS, age about 28, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., hair ( wavy) dark, clean shaven, of smart appearance; dress, navy blue suit, light tweed cap, sometimes wears riding breeches, brown gaiters and boots. Stated he was a colliery agent. See Case No. 9, 26th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hassell, Hemel Hempstead. ISLE OF MAN. 31.— Castletown ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) 14 oil paintings and 8 water colour draw- ings.— FRED. S. BURROWS, age 23, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, clean shaven, flat crooked nose. A native of Southport. Gene- rally employed at antique shops. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Douglas, Isle of Man. KENT. 32.— Maidstone ( Borough).— For stealing a bicycle.— ERNEST TAYLOR, age 21, height 5 ft. 10 ins., to 6 ft., complexion ( rather tanned) fresh, hair and eyes dark; dress, dark suit, cap. A native of Maidstone. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Maidstone. LANCASHIRE. SS.— Kirkham ( County).— For obtaining a quantity of dental goods by false pretences.— J. WALMSLEY, alias RICHARD PERCIVAL WALMSLEY, age about 30, height 6 ft. 1 in., com- plexion and hair dark, clean shaven, limps a little through having had a broken ankle, of smart ap- pearance, well dressed, generally wears a soft felt hat. Acts as a dentist or quack, but is not quali- fied. Seen in Manchester about a fortnight ago. May be found conducting a bogus dentistry busi- ness in a quiet place near to a town. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Carson, Kirkham. 34 — Liverpool ( City).— WALTER HER- BERT STONE, Office No. 1610- 04, Tabular Form, 17th inst. Not now wanted. 35.— Southport { Borough,— For stealing from his lodgings, 8th inst., a suit, 1 pair of boots, 1 cap, and a " New Hudson " bicycle.— RALPH ELERS, age 15 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue. A native of Victoria, London. Is identical with CHARLES ELERS, a deserter from the Western Cavalry Depot, Sea- forth, since 8th ult. Left behind his uniform clothing, and will no doubt be wearing the stolen articles. While on leave about a month ago he disposed of a bicycle, " The Adler Popular," No. 12598, on front down tube, makers, " Phillips Brothers, Aldershot," on back mudguard ( sup- posed stolen). Information to the Chief Constable, Southport. 36.— St. Helens ( Borough).— For stealing ( trick) £ 1 10s. 3d., 24th inst.— A MAN, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., stout build, com- plexion fresh, full round face, slight moustache brown, appearance of a heavy drinker : dress, brown jacket, light cord or moleskin trousers, dark cap, white muffler, old boots. He accosted two youths and induced them to part with their money, then sent them on false errands, and in the meantime decamped. Information to the Chief Constable, St. Helens. OXFORDSHIRE. 37.— Chipping Norton ( County^.— For deserting his wife and family, leaving them charge- able to the Chipping Norton Union.— ARTHUR STEWARD GRIFFIN, age 38, height 5 ft. 6 ins., stout build, hair and moustache light. A tweed warper, is believed to be working in York- shire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cox, Chipping Norton. 38.— Banbury ( BoroughI— For obtaining £ 8 by false pretences.— ELLEN ANDREWS, age 48 to 50, height 5 ft. 1 or 2 ins., complexion ruddy, hair and eyes dark brown, of good address; dress, dust coloured coat or waterproof, navy blue serge dress, dark blue hat with Paisley trimming. An ex- schoolmistress, native of Boddington, Northants. Absconded 18th inst., and is said to have booked to Torquay, accompanied by a woman ( not wanted), age about 36, beight 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion florid, hair ( wavy) brown, wearing long green coat, round blue hat with striped brim. A palmist, had with her a child about 3 months old, and a large wicker basket. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Banbury. PEMBROKESHIRE. 3'' — Haverford- west Castle ( County) — For embezzling £ 4 16s.— WILLIAM KEEN, age 19, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown; dress, blue jacket and vest, brown breeches, black' leggings, grey cap, white scarf; carried brown leather portmanteau. Booked to Liverpool by North Mail train, 27th inst. Native of Hull. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Haverfordwest Castle. STAFFORDSHIRE. 40— Stafford ( County). — FREDERICK FREEMAN ( identified as FREDERICK FREE- MAN, Office No. S. 150903), Case 42, 29th January, 1909. Not now wanted. Warrant withdrawn. 41.— Stoke - on - Trent ( Borough).— For absconding with workhouse clothing.-^ JAMES BOYLE, age 62, height 5 ft. 10 ins., hair, whiskers, and moustache brown, turning grey, eyes dark.— WILLIAM HEALEY, age 66, height 5 ft. 9 ins., hair, grey, whiskers and moustache sandy, eyes blue.— JOHN IIANLEY, age about 69, height 5 ft. 8 ins., hair, whiskers, and moustache grey, eyes grey. May be wearing the clothing, which consists of a dark grey cloth suit. Warrants issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Stoke- on- Trent. 3 MONMOUTHSHIRE. TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 1912.
