N 7 OTICE.— For instructions as to the manner in which reports are required to be furnished for the com- pilation of the Police Gazette see Gazette No. 1 of this year. The arrest of offenders described in the Police Gazette, or respecting whom crime reports have been forwarded for insertion in the Gazette, should be promptly notified by the member of the Force effecting the arrest. When notifying the arrest of persons charged with theft or suspected of theft, it should be stated whether the pro- perty stolen, or any portion of it, has been recovered. A description of property supposed to be stolen, found in the possession of offenders, for which owners cannot be found, shall be furnished for insertion in the Gazette. All communications concerning this Gazette should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington, and the envelope marked " For Gazette." Members of the Force in charge of out- stations will forward them direct PERSONS WANTED. AUCKLAND.— February Inst, that she may he compelled to support, her son at Werama Training Farm, Maggie Wade Campbell, alias Martin, age thirty- five, he gut 5 ft. 7 in., half- caste Maori, slight build, dark complexion and hair, irown evfs, good t< eth; has a good knowledge of the English language. Sbe was last heard < f at Raglan, in February last, at which tme she was living with a half caste Maori named Martin. Inquiry is at the instance of the Education Department. AUCKLAND. — 21st August last, on warrant of com- mitment to Mount Eden Prison for three davs in default of paying 19s. fine and costs for disorderly behaviour while drunk, Thomas Sparrow, age twenty- three, height 5 ft. 6Jin., milker, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes. AUCKLAND — 4th August last, that she mav be compelled ' to pay £ 2 5s. arrears of maintenance and to surport her chi'd, an inmate of an industrial school. Elizabeth Brady, age about forty- five, height 5 ft. 5 in., dome- tic, native of Australia, stout build, dark complexion and hair. round features, erect gait ; fond of drink ; well dr^ sed. He is supposed to have gone to Sydney. ISLAND BAY ( WELLINGTON).— Alfred James Hewett, wanted for failing to maintain his son at Weraroa Training Farm : It has been ascertained that offender's correct name is Alfred James Huett. He was for- merly employed by tne Dredge Company, Wellington, and the Harbour Board, Timaru. Offender stole an order drawn by H. Lang on the Chatham Islands Fishing Company ( Limitedl, Wellington, for the payment of £ 12 Is. lOd. to Ernest Mathew Roiall, fisherman, Owenga. He may bo identical with one David Evans, to whom the order was intrusted, and who was last heard of at Christchurch, CHRISTCHURCH. — 3rd instant, that he mav be compelled to contiibute towards the support of Emily Louisa Aiken, an inmaie of the Cnristchurch Receiving Home, William Ellis, age twenty- six, height 5 ft. 10 in , native of New Zea- lai d, medium build, dark complexion and bair, clean- shaved, round shoulders, stooping gait. His photograph is filed in the Inspector's Office, Christchurch. He is supposed to have gone to the Hanmer district. DUNEDIN.— 20tli ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for one month in default of paying £ 5 10s. fine and eo^ ts for casting offensive matter in a public place, George Rackley, age fifty- three, height 5 ft. 5J in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, light- brown eyes, star, ' G.
