AM communication* for insertion in the POLICI GAZETTB, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THB EDITOR or ill POLIOS GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YAED, LONDON, S. W. 5. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension u sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. A. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of ps. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6s. * hould be made in the first instance for co « t of engraving sketches. " Bvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. T. Announcement* concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged it counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICB GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to ths number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. IS. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICB GAZBTTB re- transmitted by Police Forces should bi prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows: — ( a) All persons coming within Sections 5, 7, or 8, of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( b) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one months imprison- ment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendiary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one months imprisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the following offences: — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Arson. Assaults with intent to rob. Attempted burglary. Attempted larceny. Attempts to break into churches, houses, shops, warehouses, & c. Attempts to obtain goods and money by false pretences. Bankruptcy offences. Being found on enclosed premises. Breaking into churches, houseB, shops, warehouses, & c. Burglary. Cattle stealing. Coining. Conspiracies of all descriptions. Embezzlement. Entering with intent to commit a felony. Extortion by threats. Felonious wounding. Forgery. Fraud. Frequenting. Horse stealing. Housebreaking. Importuning male persons to commit un- natural offences ( Vagrancy Act, 1898, Sec. 1, par. b). Indecent assault on female. Larceny. Mental degenerates. Obtaining goods and money by false pre- tences. Possessing housebreaking tools. Procuration of women and girls. Prostitution, living on proceeds of ( Vagrancy Act 1898, Sec. 1, para. a). Receiving. Robbery. Sacrilege. Sheep stealing. Shopbreaking. Suspected person. Unlawful possession. Uttering counterfeit coin. Warehousebreaking. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been previously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contain the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction, or convictions if possible, also the No. published in the List of Habitual Criminals. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. Warrant issued. 2.— X Division.— For obtaining a black gelding pony, 7 years, 11 hands, white mark near saddle, and off hind leg, scar on near fore coronet, in good condition; a set of black leather harness, brass mounts, breast collar; a governess car, yel- low body, black wheels, picked out red, lined blue leather throughout, near shaft split, by a worthless cheque on the London & Provincial Bank, Totten- ham Branch, 23rd ult.— GEORGE ROACH, age 30, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes ( sleepy) dark, speaks slowly; dress, fawn colour tweed jacket suit, black bowler hat, lace boots. MaUChline ( County).— For embezzling £ 35 between 24th July and 21st August last— ERNESTO LENZINI, an Italian, age 27, height 5 ft. 6 ins., stout build, complexion swarthy, full round face, hair light clean shaved, eyes grey, speaks fairly good English; dress, greenish jacket suit, lace boots. An ice cream salesman; has also been employed as a mosaic worker. May en- deavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Particulars cancelled. 6.— Windsor ( Borough).— For obtaining by false pretences, 8th inst., a bicycle, " Westwood" rims, black spokes, " Minotaur" back tyre, front rim brake, plated handle bars, upturned, no grips, front mudguard cracked, back one fastened to frame in centre by a piece of leather, saddle repaired underneath with wire, tool bag has inserted at back a piece of celluloid for owner's name, etc.— FREDERICK RAINER, age about 26, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., hair brown, small light brown moustache, complexion fresh, rather round face; dress, old clothes, cap and coloured wrapper. Gen- erally obtains his living bv hawking fruit or veget- ables. A native of Windsor, but has lived in London for several months at a time. Supposed natives of Manchester. May have in their possession a brown horse, aged, about 15 hands, no mane or forelock, long tail, a gorse gig, body blue, picked out blue, yellow shafts, 2 old- fashioned lamps attached, a set of old black leather harness, silver plated mounts, except bridle, which is brass mounted. Dutton, Hazel Grove. 10.— Stockport ( Borough).— For stealing, 25th ult. from his lodgings, a silver English lever watch, No. 10419, and a silver chain THOMAS WALLACE, age about 24, height 5 ft. 1 in., com- plexion fresh, slight moustache; dress, blue suit, light cap. A labourer; native of Macclesfield. Information to the Chief Constable, Stockport. ESSEX. 11.— Chelmsford ( County).— For house- breaking and stealing 6/ 6— JOHN HODSON, age 35, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fair, hair grey, almost white ; dress, green striped jacket and vest, brown cord trousers, black cap, and muffler, a groom; is addicted to drink, usually sings in pub- lic houses. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. 12.— Dunmow ( County).— For obtaining by a worthless cheque on the London Provincial Bank, South Tottenham Branch, 30th ult., a light chests nut cart gelding, 6 years, about 15 hands, short legs ( white), silver mane and tail; a bay cart geld- ing, rising 5 years, about 16 hands 3 ins., white legs, dark patch on right side near hip, and right eye, good carriage, docked; and a very dark grey mare cob, rising 4 years, about 14 hands 3 ins., thick set, bony, ragged mane, short tail, good ac- tion.— J. ARCHER, age about 55, height about 5 ft. 7 ins., stout build, full round face, complexion sallow, believed clean shaven; dress, light grey suit, wearing a gold or gold colour watch and chain- stated he was a cartage contractor for meat from Deptford to Smithfield. — BROWN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., complexion fresh. See Case No. 5, 29th ult. They had with them a small varnished or stained governess car, drawn by a red roan pony. A bay van mare, ris- ing 5 years, about 15 hands, white face, medium mane, long tail, very active, in fair condition, was also obtained by a cheque on the same bank. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Scott, Dunmow. 13.— Epping ( County).— For obtaining a grey- cart gelding at Ongar, by a worthless cheque drawn on the London & Provincial Bank, South Totten- ham Branch. TIDD, alias ARCHER, age 50 to 53, height 5 ft. 7 ins., stout build, inclined to be corpulent, complexion pale, full round face, hair turning grey, slight moustache light; dress, light suit, fawn colour overcoat, black hard hat, wearing gold watch and chain and gold ring.— BROWN, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fresh, rather long face, mous- tache dark sandy, carries his head slightly forward; dress, brown suit, dark thick overcoat, bowler hat, heavy boots. ( See Case No. 12, 6th inst). Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Terry, Epping. FIFESHIRE. 1- 1.— Cupar ( County).— For embezzling £ 72 14s. 6d.— PERCY S. SMiTH, age about 26, height 5 ft. 2 ins., slight build, complexion very sallow, hair ( curly) black, slight moustache dark; dress, fawn colour three- quarter length rainproof coat, blue jacket, grey fancy vest, grey trousers, light cap. Is fond of betting. A boot shop manager; native of Bristol. Was seen in Edinburgh 4th inst. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. FLINTSHIRE. 15 — Mold ( County).— For stealing, 80th ult., at Queensferry, a Premier cycle, 22 or 24 in. frame, 28 in. wheels, free wheel, two inverted lever brakes, upturned handlebars, celluloid mudguards lined red and green, Brampton new saddle; has recently been re- enamelled— A MAN, age about 30, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair and mous- tache dark brown, one finger appears to have been crushed; dress, brown striped suit, slit in back of coat, dark cap, button boots, rubber heels. Be- lieved identical with man, Case No. 18, 6tli inst. Information to Supt. Davies, Mold. GLAMORGANSHIRE. 16.— Treharrss ( County).— For stealing a light bay mare, aged, 14 hands, 2 ins., slightly lame on front legs, in good condition; a flat bot- tom spring cart, Aberdare painted oil front— WIL- LIAM WILLIAMS, age about 28, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., hair dark, clean shaved, slightly lame, dress, dark tweed suit, dark cap, lace boots, broad soles. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Gill, Treharris. 17.— Cardiff ( City).— For non- payment of maintenance arrears— JOHN THOMAS* HORN- BLOW, age 42, height 5 ft. 9 ins., stout build, complexion fair, hair ( curly), brown, moustache light brown, eyes grey, An ex- licensed victualler. May be found in company of betting men. Fre- quents Paddington Station for the purpose of meeting trains from Cardiff. Warrant issued. 18.— Cardiff ( City).— For failing to report — ROBERT ARTHUR WALKER, Office No. 2027- 05, age 28, height 5 ft. ins., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes hazel, scar right of chin, back of head and palm of right hand. A labourer; native of Birmingham. Sentenced at Newcastle Quarter Sessions, 1st July, 1909, to 3 years penal servitude for lajrceny; licensed 1st September last, j. 289. S." tattooed right forearm, cross flags, " F. B," half bracelet, 2 sprays, heart and true love left fore- arm. A fireman; native of London. Sentenced at Swansea ( County) Quarter Sessions, 6th April, 1909, to 3 years penal servitude for shopbreaking, etc., licensed 7th June last. c. j. 546. Warrant issued. GL OUCES TERSHIRE. 20.— Bristol ( City).- For stealing between 6th and 7th inst., a metal keyless watch, double case, No. 654977, 1 lady's silver Geneva watch, key winding, old fashioned, plain case, glass cracked, out of repair— ROBERTS, age 24, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fair, rather thin face, clean shaved, busts of two females right arm; dress, brown coat with dark stripes, black vest, blue trou- sers, light muffler, green cap, old boots. He took lodgings, stated he came from Bolton to work at a local ironworks. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United King- dom. Information to the Chief Constable, Bristol. HAMPSHIRE. 21.— Aldershot ( County).— For embezzlement between 17th April and 3rd July last— FRED- ERICK HILL, age 16, height 5 ft. 4 ins., rather stout build, complexion fresh, hair light brown; dress, Scotch tweed suit, grey cap. A clerk. Had with him a nearly new Raleigh bicycle. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davis, Aldershot. HEREFORDSHIRE. 22.— Ledbury ( County).— For failing to report change of residence.— JOSEPH PEACH, Office No. 1623- 09, age 29, height 5 ft. 4f ins., complexion florid, hair light, eyes blue, bird and butterfly out- side right upper arm, female, broken dagger, bust of female and " Phoebe" outside right forearm, clasped hands and heart back right hand, Queen outside left upper arm, bust of female and " J. Peach " outside left forearm, heart back left hand. A native of Walsall. Sentenced at Gloucester Quarter Sessions, 6th April, 1910, to 6 months hard labour and 2 years police supervision for larceny. Supervision expires 29th August, 1912. 1056. ' Information to Supt. Williams, Ledbury. 23 — Bromyard ( County).— For failing to report change of residence— WILLIAM BOU- CHER, Office No. 2176- 10, age 49, height 5 ft. 6£ ins., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, several scars right side of forehead, boil marks right shoulder, woman on horse on chest, snake and dagger outside right forearm, " Duke of York" and flowers upper right arm, basket of flowers and Scotsman inside right forearm, tombstone, " In memory of mother,' inside left forearm, flower girl outside left forearm. A native of Birming- ham. Sentenced at Birmingham Sessions, 27th April, 1910, to 9 months' hard labour, and 2 years' police supervision for larceny. Supervision ex- pires 5th December, 1912, 7838. Information to Supt. Groves, Bromyard. HUNTINGDONSHIRE. 24 — Huntingdon ( County).— For stealing about £ 1 10s., from his lodgings 6th inst. DOWELL or DOWER, age 40 to 50, heigfit 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion, liair, moustache and close cropped pointed beard dark; dress, dark suit, fawn colour macintosh, round soft green hat, army boots. Stated he belonged to Wolverhampton, and was travelling for a cattle medicine firm Reading, and was calling upon farmers for orders. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Huntingdon. KENT. 25.— Sandwich ( County).— For stealing 21 bottles of whisky, 2 tins of herrings, and 8 tins of pineapple at Westcliffe, 12th August last— HEN- RY WILLIAM PEACOCK, age 30, height 5 ft. 8J ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, serpent left forearm, duck left upper arm, female right upper arm He left Dover the first week in September with Bostock's Circus. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Stone, Sandwich. 26. — Ton bridge ( County).— For supplying drugs to procure abortion— ARCHIBALD WEST- ROPP WEIR, age about 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, moustache light, of smart appearance. Has been employed as ail insurance agent; supposed a native of Brighton. Is an Army Reservist of the 12th Lancers. Some times poses as an officer. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Neaves, Tollbridge. LANCASHIRE. 27.— Warrington ( Borough).— For stealing, 3rd ult., a Reference cycle, transfer, " Reference Sun Cycle Co., Birmingham," on head and back mudguard, 24 in. frame, 28 in. wheels, Dunlop tyres, black enamelled, red lined, usual parte plated,, front and back rim roller brakes, straight handlebars, free wheel, rubber pedals, lamp, bell and pump attached,— PHILIP JOHN DAYIES, alias ROBSON, ROWLANDS, etc., age about 25, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion swarthy, hair dark brown, usually clean shaven, eyes grey. A la- bourer; native of Swansea. Previously convicted at Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Gloucester, and Pem- brokeshire. Stated he was a professional football player. Warrant issued. 28.— Warrington ( Borough).— For stealing a purse and contents, 8th July last— JOHN CHARLES BAKER, alias BARRATT and BAR- NETT, age 37, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, round face, hair turning grey, usually clean shaven, eyes hazel, anchor right forearm, crossed flags, crown, A. S., heart, J. B., and clasped hands left forearm. A labourer; native of Manchester. Has also worked as a billard marker, sometimes poses as an electrical engineer. Is of a roving dis- position, readily makes friends, attends music halls and is fond of the company of music hall artistes. Previously convicted at Middlesbrough, Liverpool, Birkenhead and Manchester. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Warrington. LINCOLNSHIRE. 29.- Scunthorpe ( County).- For embezzling £ 9 17s. 6d., 13th June last— ARTHUR RAW- LINSON, age about 38, height 5 ft. 7ins., stout build, very full red face, hair brown, moustache ( rather heavy), light; dress, brownish colour jacket and vest, usually breeches and brown leather leg- gings, black felt liat. Has been employed as a butcher's manager. Absconded 3rd inst. by train from Birmingham to Doncaster. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Holmes, Scunthorpe. MONTGOMER YSHIRE. 80 - Newtown ( County).- For stealing 10s. and a basket, " Margarine " on side.
