All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR or IEI POLIO GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward ia offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be insrrtt d at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6. s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6i. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 8. Bvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted ar> d no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 0. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be. inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such pu• ': cation. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompaniid by a covering letter. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons1' are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. A native of Belgium. Warrant issued. 2.— K Division. — For stealing, ( servant) .£ 40 entrusted to him to exchange for silver.— WILLIAM COXALL, age 44, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion and hair ( turning grey) dark, eyes grey, blue mark on nose; dress, dark grey suit, dark cap, lace boots. A potman, native of West Ham. May endeavour to seek employment as a 6hip's fireman. Warrant issued. 8.— K Division.— For larceny ( lodgings) BERNARD CUTHBERT, age 21, height 6 ft. 1 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes dark brown; dress, grey jacket suit, bowler hat, straight brim. A native of Walthamstow. Was accompanied by his wife. Warrant issued. Information to be forwarded to the Metropoli- tan Police Office, New Scotland Yard, S. W. BEDFORDSHIRE. 4.— Bet! ford ( Borough).— For obtaining £ 2 16s. 0d., by a worthless cheque, No. A. 816086, drawn on the London and South Western Bank, Ltd., Willesden Green Branch, signed R. E. Tucker, on the 8th inst.— CHARLES PARSONS, age 28, height 5 ft. 4 ins., good build, clean shaven; dress, reddish brown mixture tweed suit, light fancy vest, straw hat. He called on a tradesman, ordered goods to be sent to an address, tendered the cheque in payment, which was returned marked " no ac- count." Was accompanied by A MAN, age 30, height 5 ft. 10 ins., clean shaved; dress dark grey morning coat and vest, dark trousers, black felt hat, tan colour gloves. Warrant issued. BERKSHIRE. fl.— Reading ( County).— For obtaining by a worthless cheque on the London & Provincial Bank, Tottenham, London, 9th inst., a grey mare, 6 years, 14 hands 2 ins., sand cracks off fore foot, and a black mare. 7 years, 14 hands 2 ins., scar both sides, caused by traces, white star on forehead, one hind foot white— G. BROWN, alias H. LAKE, age about 35, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, sleepy appearance; dress, plaid suit, brown boots. The black mare was advertised, Brown called upon the farmer, stated he had been sent by Lake to purchase the horses. It has since been ascertained that Brown and Lake are identical. The horses reached Padding- ton 10th inst., were taken to a stable in Lambeth, and removed the following day, supposed into Essex. Is identical with man, Cases No. 21, 21st June, and 4, 7th July last. Warrant issued. ED- WARDS, alias GEORGE E. ELLIS, age 30 to 40, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, rather curly, slight moustache light; dress,, navy blue suit, hard hat. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Gibbs, Wantage. CA M BRIDGES HIRE. 7.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For obtaining by false pretences, 22nd inst., a Triumph motor bicycle, 3A h. p., registered No. C. E. 1314, No. 2378 on frame lug back of engine No. 122439, and 5/ 12/ 07 on engine- C. V. GRAHAM, alias SUMPTER, age 18 to 20, height about 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion very fair, clean shaved; dress, Norfolk jacket, grey flannel trousers, fancy socks, brown shoes. He took rooms 21st inst. at a university lodging house, stating he was coming up to a col- lege, also that he was a native of Norwich, and had been at a grammar school in Bedford for 10 years. CA RNA R VONSHIRE. fs — Bangor ( County).— For stealing 19th inst., a pair dark trousers with light stripes; 1 blue lined jacket; 1 soft grey hat; 1 pair stockings; 1 flannel shirt; 1 do. singlet; 1 pair do. pants— A MAN, age about 40, height 5 ft. 4 to 6 ins., hair ( long) and moustache light brown, growing a beard, wearing a pair of white fustian trousers patched at knees. A native of Four Crosses, Menai Bridge. Information to Supt. Guest, Bangor. CHESHIRE. 9 - Birkenhead ( County).- For stealing ( tailee) a cornet— JOSEPH CLARKE, age about 35, height 5 ft. 3 or 4ins., slight build, complexion sallow, hair, moustache, and eyes ( small) dark, fleshy mark left of upper lip, near which moustache does not grow, tattoo marks on right forearm and back of right hand; dress, navy- blue serge jacket, black ve6t, dark trousers, black and white small check muffler, dark grey cap with green stripes, strong boots. Supposed a native of Bolton. Is a good cornet player and may be found playing outside public houses. Absconded 24th inst. Warrant issued. 10.- Birkenhead ( County).- For deserting his family at Ellesmere Port, 9th inst.— JOSEPH FALLOWES, alias SHEPHARD, age 34, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., stout build, complexion fair, some- times clean shaven, eyes blue, several front teeth broken, scars on throat. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Farnworth, County Hall, Birkenhead. DENBIGHSHIRE. 11.— Denbigh ( County).— For stealing pro- perty described in Case No. 52. 8th inst. ( since recovered).— WILLIAM DAVIES, age 36, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion fresh, hair ( thin on top) and moustache dark brown, eyes dark, tattooed both arms; dress, blue pilot jacket, light brown cord trousers ( broad and narrow ribs alternately), dark cap, strong nailed boots. A navvy; native of Wrexham. Absconded 20th inst. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Woollam, Denbigh; or Inspector Harvey, Ruthin. DERBYSHIRE. 1 Z.— Renishaw ( County)— For stealing a postal packet at Beighton, 14th July last.— ARTHUR CRAIG, age 38, height 5 ft. 10 ins., hair brown; turns his feet outwards. A joiner. Warrant issued. 13 — Renishaw ( County).— For obtaining 10s. bv false pretences at Killainarch, 18th July last— JOHN WILLIAM YEOMANS, age 21, height 5 ft. 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, cut scars inside thick part of left thumb and middle of right hand; dress, brown jacket, light Bedford cord breeches, black leather leggings, brown check cap and muffler, heavy nailed boots. H. marked inside— SILAS LIDDELL, age 45 to 50, height 6 ft. 7 or 8 ins., rather stout build, full face, high forehead, hair and moustache dark, turning grey, addicted to drink; dress, light green coat and vest, dark trousers; usually carries a small black hand- bag and sometimes a mackintosh. A pensioned « rmy bandmaster. Information to the Chief Constable, Court House, Exeter. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, complexion sallow, thin face, hair brown clean shaven; dress, greenish mix- ture suit, dark cap, brown boots. A carter; native of Cardiff. Warrant issued. 22.— Cardiff { City).— For stealing a set of chimney- sweeping tools.— HENRY FRANCIS, age 31, height 5 ft. 5 ins., slight build, complexion fair, hair light, eyes blue, wearing a dark working suit. A chimney- sweep; native of Newport, Mon. Absconded 31st ult., and will no doubt be found in the South Wales Colliery District. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. ESSEX. 15.— DutimOW { County).— For being concerned with EDWARD JONES ( in custody), charged with larceny at Thaxted, 18th inst, — " WHIPPETT," age about 48, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., good build, complexion fresh, full face, hair brown clean shaven, large cut scar under left jaw, slight impediment in speech, several front teeth missing; dress, dark jacket and vest, dark striped trousers, flap fronts, plaid cap with large peak. A groom. He travels the country accompanied by a man, hawking enamel ware,, etc., and dealing in old horses; visits repositories. Is said to have been oonvicted of horse stealing, and about 3 or 4 years ago, was sentenced to 12 or 18 months' imprison- ment for stealing a horse and trap at Barbican. Warrant issued. Scott, Dunmow. 16.— Grays { County).— For an indecent assault on a girl age 13 years, at Horndon- on- the- Hill, 11th inflt., A MAN, age 24 to 25, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 ins., slight build, complexion red, hair dark, dress, dark suit and cap, trousers very ragged at bottoms, carried a black overcoat and a bargeman's white bag. Laver, Grays. 17.— Romford { County).— For obtaining by a, worthless cheque, 11th inst., a bay cob gelding, 13 hands, 2 ins., 4 years, goose rumped, cow hocked, wide action in front, sunken temples.— HARRY LAKE, aim FREDERICK HUBBARD, age about 40, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, round face, hair light brown, clean shaven, head bent forward, one shoulder higher than other, mole on one cheek; dress, dark grey mixture suit, cap, brown boots with wide welts. Jones, Romford. 18.— Southend { County).— For stealing £ 3 10s. 12th inst.— ARTHUR McMULLEN, alias ALBERT McMULLEN, age 20, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, hair black, eyes believed brown; dress, brown jacket and vest, black striped tweed trousers, green silk tie, blue » ocks, grey cap, shoes. A barman. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marden, Southend. 19 — Colchester { Borough).— For stealing ( by trick) furniture, on 3rd August last— L. HOL- LAND, age 45, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins., very slight build, hair grey, large tumour left side of throat, pleasant manner. She took a house in May last, ordered furniture, etc., on credit from tradesmen, afterwards disposed of some to second- hand dealers and decamped with the other. Believed wanted elsewhere. She was accompanied by her husband ( not wanted) age 40 to 45, height 5ft. 8 or 9 ins., slight build, son and two daughters, ages 21, 17, and 19 respectively. Warrant issued. 20 — Colchester { Borough).— For obtaining an 18- ct. gold keyless lever watch, plain cases, No. 1654770 and a 9- ct. gold double albert chain, ty a worthless cheque on the Frinton- on- Sea Branch of Messrs. Barclay & Company, Ltd., 15th inst.— FRANK DAVIES, alias HUGH HARE, and MOUNTSEVEN, age about 60, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., complexion florid, large nose, red at end moustache grey, appearance of a heavy drinker, dress, dark suit, felt hat, now believed wearing dark grey jacket suit, lace boots, and a safety- pin brooch set spray of paste diamonds. Is identical with A MAN who committed a similar offence at Kings Lynn, Norfolk, on 19th inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Town Hall, Colchester. Perkins, Dursiey. 24 — Staple Hill { County).— ALBERT JAMES GOLDING and ALFRED SAMUEL GOLD1NG, Case No. 24, 14th October, 1910, not now wanted. 25 .— Staple Hill { County).— For escaping from Brentry Certified Inebriates Reformatory, 25th inst.— ERNEST WALLACE, age 48, height 5 ft. 5^ ins., complexion florid, hair ( turning grey) and moustache dark brown, eyes hazel; dress, dark overcoat, velvet collar, dark trousers, soft felt hat. A native of Islington, London. Is an associate of card sharpers and betting men, two of whom un- doubtedly met him with a taxi cab and drove to Temple Meads Railway Station, the driver heard them express their intention of going to South Wales. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cooke, Staple Hill. 26— Bristol { City). - For obtaining £ 2 2s. 6d. by a worthless cheque, 9th inst.— TWO MEN who each gave the name of C. ROOKE, 1st age about 36, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion and hair dark, believed clean . shaven • dress, grey suit, rush straw hat, carried a silver- mounted stick; 2nd, age about 35, height 5 ft. 9 ins., complexion sallow, hair and moustache dark, of Jewish and smart appearance; wearing black morning coat, low cut fancy vest, button boots. They called upon a tradesman 9th inst., the 1st described presented a cheque ( from a book stolen at a hotel in London) for £ 5 10s. 0d., drawn on the London City and Midland Bank, Ltd., Liverpool Branch, by H. E. Bray, in favour of C. Rooke, and received balance. On the same day they called at an optician's, the 2nd described presented a cheque for £ 5 10s. 0d., drawn on Messrs. Thomas Cook & Son, Ludgate Circus, London, by F. Mills, in favour of C. Rooke, and received a balance of £ 4, the cheque was from a book containing 12 blank cheques, Nos. A. 986014 to 25, stolen from a hotel in London 14th ult., witB other articles, including a silver cigarette case, initials D. M. S.; and a writing case with D. M. S. in gold letters thereon. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Bristol. groin. DRUMMOND, age 25 to 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion pale, hair dark, clean shaven; dress, light suit. Of good address. Sup- posed wanted elsewhere. Several similar chcques have been cashed at Eastbourne, Great Yarmouth, Gorjeston, Lowestoft, Chatham, Poole and Ilford. RAINES, age 26 to 28, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion and slight moustache ( curled at ends) dark, large staring eyes, of good address; dress, brown suit and cap. Warrant issued. Han- ley, 57tli or 77th Regiment written in ink; 1 pair of trousers; 1 dark grey jacket, blue and green stripes, pockets and tat similar to other; 1 pair of trousers; 1 pair of dark grey trousers; 1 long light brown overcoat with grey stripes; 1 light brown overcoat with red squares ( very heavy); 1 pair of brown leather marching boots, tips on heels, recently re- heeled; 1 pair of oval gold sleeve links, C. A. H. thereon; 1 Royal Enfield bicycle, No. 14882, 26- in. double bar frame, black enamel- led, upturned handle bars, rubber pedals, Dunlop tyres, Brooks saddle, carrier at back; 1 Humber bi^ vcle, 26- in. frame, black enamelled, two pull- up lever brakes, Dunlop tyres-, rat trap pedals.— WILLIAM GEORGE JAMES DELLAR, age 19, height 5 ft. 9 ins., hair dark brown, eyes hazel, complexion fresh, scar back of right thumb and left knee. WILLIAM HENRY SMITH, age 18, height 5 ft. 8f ins., hair and eyes brown, ooinplexion fresh, scar right angle of mouth, operation mark left HER TFORDSHIRE. 82.— Hitchin { County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences between 15th and 23rd inst.— CHARLES BLACK, age 28 to 30, height about 6 ft. 1 in., slight build, complexion ruddy, hair brown, moustache sandy; dress black jacket suit, straw hat. — BLACK, age about 20, height about 5 ft. 4 ins., stout build, complexion fresh, hair light brown; dress, faded plum col- oured costume, large plain plum- coloured straw hat. Black stated he was employed by Messrs. Lipton's to examine the stock and books of the Hitchin Branch shop, and would probably stay about a month. They left behind a man's under- vest, " B. YORKSHIRE ( West Riding). £ 20 REWARD. 80.— Doncaster ( Borough.).— Whereas about 11- 15 p. m., 13th September, 1911, one Amos Mor- gan, waiter, of Leeds, was struck on the face and knocked down in West Street, in this Borough, by some person at present unknown, receiving such injuries to his head in falling, whereby he expired in the local infirmary on the 18th inst., without regaining consciousness, aiid at a Coroners inquest held on the body, 19th inst., a verdict of man- slaughter was returned. Description of person suspected, age 30 to 40, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 ins., stiff build, inclines head to right very distinctly when walking; dress, check suit, and black hard felt hat; undoubtedly belongs to the racing frater- nity, and is said to have made a book on the race- course here on the 14th inst. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, DonCaster, by whom the above reward will be paid to ai^ y person giving such information as will lead to the apprehension and conviction of the person guilty of committing this crime.
