All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to TUB EDITOR or iai POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the PPUCE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all eases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clcarly stated. o. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of fi. s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricute, when the charge will be higher. .4 remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not lis* rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such prison is required to be inserted and no warrant is tn force against him, t'ie requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanicd by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, cither at the office, New Scotlaml Yard, by l'ostal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment but insertion in the next or ony subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion ( if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. Released on licence 4th March, 1911, under the care of the Borstal Association. If arrested he is to be detained and a telegram or telephonic communication sent to the Governor, H. M. Prison, Pentonville, who will send an escort for him. Licence expires 23rd August 1911, after which date he must not be arrested. 2. — C Division*— For unlawful and malicious wounding 3rd inst.— THOMAS PATTEN BOUS- FIELD, age 27, height 5 ft. 6 ins., complexion pale, hair dark, eyes grey; dress, dark lounge suit, straw hat. DEVONSHIRE. 8.— Exeter ( City).— For stealing ( bailee) 5th inst., a quantity of ice cream and biscuits.— FRAN- CESCOalias FRENCHIE, age 50 to 55, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., slight build, complexion sun- burnt, hair nearly white, rather heavy moustache grey; dress, navy blue coat, light grey trousers, greenish cap, sells flowers, watercress and ferns during the winter, and ioe cream in the summer. May be found at common lodging houses, in com- pany of Italians or endeavour to seek employment picking fruit. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, City Police, Exeter. DURHAM. 9 - West Hartlepool ( County).- For obtaining £ 285 by false pretences about 6th ult.— JOHN FEARNLEY, alios JOHN LAUNDER, age 46, height 5 ft. 7J ins., complexion fresh, hair dark, supposed clean shaven, eyes grey. A book- maker, or canvasser for bogus directories. Native of Burnley. Warrant issued. 11.- Wes* Hartlepool ( County).- For obtaining £ 224 by false prtetences about 28th March last— ARTHUR RAYBOULD, age 36, height 5 ft. 6 ins.,, complexion fresh, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes blue, wears gold- rimmed glasses. A baker, or canvasser for bogus direc tories. Native of Bilston, Staffs. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Snaith, West Hartlepool. ESSEX. 12.— BrentwOOtl [ County).— For absconding from Poplar Branch Workhouse, Dunton, 4th inst., with a tweed jacket; 1 cord vest; 1 pair cord trousers; 1 tweed cap; 1 cotton shirt; 1 pair red web braces; 1 pair heavy nailed boots; 1 pair socks all marked " P. B. W. Laindon."— THOMAS BAR- KER, age 40, height 5 ft. 6 ins., good build, com- plexion dark, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes brown. A waterside labourer. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cowell, Brentwood. 13. - Chelmsford ( County).— For obtaining by false pretences 7th inst., 4 pairs of boots ( 1 box calf, lace, wide toes, key design on tail and soles, size 7£; 1 pair glace kid, size 7, " Tourinese " on soles; 1 pair tan willow calf, lace, size 7; 1 pair do.).— A MAN, age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion dark, hair brown; dress, light grey suit, green cap, black tie, lace boots. Belie- ved a groom. He produced a letter purporting to be from a butler asking that the boots may be sent on approbation. Warrant issued. 14.— Chelmsford ( County).— For obtaining £ 1 Is. by false pretences, 19th ult.— GEORGE E. KING, age 30 to 34, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., slight build, hair brown, clean shaven, well educated; dress, blue serge suit. An architect and surveyor. On 15th ult. he rented a room in High Holborn,, London, for the purpose of receiving letters, then issued type- written letters to tradesmen, inviting them to tender for the erection of a country resi- dence for a gentleman, and on the receipt of a guinea, plans and specifications would be for- warded to them. Warrant issued. £ 5 REWARD. 15.— Chelmsford ( County). — For stealing, 31st ult., a bay gelding, 16 hands, hog mane, medium tail, white star on forehead; 1 set of black leather harness ( silver plated); 1 4- wheel waggon- ette, body painted black, wheels brown, lined out straw colour, patent upturned front near- side seat, opens with lever at near- side, rubber ring round hub each front wheel, round dial lamps brake, plated fittings, leather dashboard and wings, brown cloth cushions, 2 rubber mats, makers, Morgan, Long Acre— TWO MEN, 1 age 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., complexion fresh, hair and moustache light,; dress, navy blue suit, bowler hat; 1 age 30 to 35, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 ins.,, complexion dark, hair brown, rather heavy moustache; dress brown speckled suit, bowler hat. Warrant issued. The above reward will be paid by Mr. H. F. Wilson, Chelmsford, to any person giving such in- formation as may lead to the recovery of the pro- perty and the conviction of the thief or thieves, or in proportion to the value of the property re- covered. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Chelmsford. 16 — Southend ( County). — For stealing from their lodgings 8th inst., 1 suit of clothes ( recovered); 1 dark fawn coloured rainproof dust coat, slit at back, straight pockets with flaps; 1 light fawn colour mackintosh, pocket each side; 1 pair brown lace boots size 8, " Hicks and Co., Bishopsgate, London," on tab; 1 pair lace boots size 8, " Mocassin " on tal\ rubber heels; 1 brown leather case containing 2 brushes and comb, seve- ral turn- down collars size 15J, H. M. White in ink on back of same.— REYNOLDS, age about 22, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion pale, hair dark brown, eyes dark, oval face, clean shavedv. well spoken; dress, dark tweed suit, dark cap, supposed stolen boots.— WATSON, age about 22, height 5 ft. 4 ins., complexion fresh, hair auburn, eyes ( cast in one) grey, clean shaved, well spoken; dress, grey tweed suit and cap, supposed stolen bocts.— LESLIE, age about 22, height 5 ft. 4 ins., round, red face, hair light, clean shaved, wears pince- nez; dress, dark tweed jacket suit, grey cap. They took lodgings 3rd inst., stating they were employed by a Theatrical Agent, and r presented themselves to be " The Boston Trio," American Speciality Dancers. Absconded 8th inst., without paying for their board and lodgings. Warrants issued. Information to Supt. Marden, Southend. A fitter, native of London. Sentenced at Middle- sex Sessions, 5th August, 1905, to 7 years' penal servitude and 3 years' police supervision for burg- lary; licensed 10th December, 1910. f. 336. GL OUCES TERSHIRE. 18.— Bristol ( City).— For stealing, 27th ult., a brown horse- pony, about 12 hands 3 ins., aged, touched in wind, in fair condition, a set of black leather brass mounted harness, nickel curb bit, and a light varnished trap, yellow wheels, dark shafts.— FREDERICK RADFORD, age 45 to 5 > height 5 ft. 2 or 3 ins., slight build, complexion fresh, moustache light brown, shabbily dressed. A butcher, native of Bristol. Usually stays at com- mon lodging or low beer- houses. May be found in company of horse dealers or butchers. Absconded 29th ult. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Bristol. HAMPSHIRE. 19.— Aldershot ( County).— For stealing a barrel organ, " Vengenzo and Pezzailo " on front, " Pezaresi" on inside, green canvas cover, two tunes ( Sweet Louise, and The Kiss), on a barrow painted blue, two brass bands around wheel boxes, lined red and yellow, one handle broken, repaired with a piece of iron and 3 small bolts.— ANTONIO FUDGIN, an Italian, age about 25, complexion, hair and moustache dark; dress, blue serge suit, cap. Warrant issued. 20.— Aldershot ( County). — For stealing property described in Case No. 60, 2nd inst. ( tho gold horseshoe pin, gold heart shaped pin, 1 gold safety pin, and 3 gold signet rings, have been re- covered)— EDWARD CHARLES CROSSLEY, age 22,. height 5 ft. 9J ins., complexion fresh, f ill, oval face, scar on forehead, dot left forearm, cross right forearm, of smart appearance; Jress, dark suit, black bowler hat. A native of Ken- sington. Is a deserter from the 118th Battery, Royal Field Artillery. Information to Supt. Hawkins, Aldershot. 21.— Alton ( County).— For stealing at Bordon, 10th inst., a Popular Alder bicycle, No. 12226, 22 in. frame, black enamelled, lined green, plated rims, flat handle bars, rat trap pedals, 2 pull- up brakes, Alder tyres, transfer,. Phillip Bros., Aider- shot, on head and back mudguard, acetylene lamp attached.— JOHN BASKETTER, age 20, height 5 ft 7 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, small scar left side of head. Wearing khaki uniform. Is an absentee from the 2nd Border Regiment. Information to Supt. Reuben, Alton. 22.— Gosport ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) £ 7 10s. entrusted to him for the purpose of pur- chasing a boat, 27th ult.— ALFRED JOHN COUS- INS, age 31, height 5 ft. 5 insv complexion dark, sunburnt, hair ( slightly turning grey) dark brown, eyes hazel, female left fore- arm, heart right fore- arm; dress,, dark mixture tweed jacket, light grey trousers, grey tweed cap, may be soiled with tar. A native of Gosport. Has served in the Navy. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cottle, Gosport. 23.— RingWOOtl ( County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences between 28tli January and 2nd ult.— THOMAS HENRY KING, age about 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., com- plexion pale, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes brown, of good address; dress, navy blue jacket suit green tie, grey tweed cap, brown fancy shoes, may be wearing a grey tweed suit. An engineer or millwright; native of Stroud, Gloucestershire. Is accompanied by his two sons, age 14 and 12 years re- spectively, both wearing grey tweed knicker s. iits and bowler hats. HEREFORDSHIRE- 25.— Hereford ( County) • — For housebreaking, 9th inst., at Callow.— A MAN, age about 40.. height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., complexion ruddy, hair light, heavy moustache ginger; dress, dark coat, dirty cord or khaki trousers, dark cap,, old boots, carried an old light coat or mackintosh. A tramp, was traced to Monmouth. Information to Supt. Thomas, County Police, Hereford. HER TFORDSHIHE. 2 ).— Hemel Hempstead ( County).— For obtaining a black mare 6 years, 16 hands, one white heel, by a worthless cheque, 25th ult.— FREDERICK HUBBARD,, age 33, height 5 ft, 11 ins., drooping shoulders, hair and moustache light, mole on one cheek, carries his head for- ward ; dress, grey mixture suit. A horse dealer, late of Melbourn, Cambs. Warrant issued. 27.— Hemel Hempstead ( County).— For obtaining £ 12 by false pretences from a Post Of- fice Savings Bank during the past 3 months— HET- TIE WEBB,, alias GOODSPEED, age 32, height 5 ft. 2 ins., complexion fresh, hair dark; dress, light jacket, black skirt, greenish hat. A native of Peckham. May solicit prostitution. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Frogley, Hemel Hemp- stead. 28.— Hertford ( County).— For housebreaking at Codicote, 8th inst., and stealing jewellery, re- covered, except a plain gold ring ( dented), 1 gold ring ( broken), 1 gold keeper ring— ARTHUR KELLY, age 25, height 5 ft. 9 or 10 ins., strong build, complexion dark, swarthy, clean shaved, hair dark brown, appearance of a sailor; dress, dark jacket with large patch of tar on left shoulder, and ovleralls. CLAIR SINCLAIR, age 22, height 5 ft. 4 ins., good build, slightly round shoulders, complexion sallow, oval face, hair ( curly in front) dark; dress, dark grey suit with green- ish tinge, grey cap. A fish dealer or labourer. Believed to have in his possession a cheque book on North of Scotland and Town and ( County Bank, Queensgate, Inverness, cheques A. 12289 to 12300. Warrant issued. Reported to the Manchester ( City) Police. 35.— Liver/ tOOl ( City).— For embezzlement. J. PERCY BATES, age 42, height 5 ft. 7 ins., haii- ( cut short) light, clean shaved, of smart ap- pearance. A traveller said to be well- known in the wholesale paint trade, especially in the Pot- tery District. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 3G. — Stm Helens ( Borough).— For bigamy, 21st December, 1907— JAMES EDWARDS, alias THOMAS JAMES EDWARDS, and BARGERY, age about 33 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 4 or 5 ins., slightly round shoulders, complexion fair, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes blue. A collier; native of Pontadawe, Glamorganshire. He left Grange- town, Sunderland, March, 1910, and was accom- panied by a woman. Photograph can be seen on application. Brown of Bradford, Electroplater and FrSnch Poli- sher," was found in one pocket, and a small spirit bottle marked Navigation Inn, Broadheath, con- taining a preparation of ammonia was found near body.
