Aft communication* for insertion in the POLICI GAZETTE, and all communica- tions relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF IEI POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. Portraits of Persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 83. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6s. per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. .1 remittance of 6s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. t. Bvery announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. T. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 10. 11. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their 0/> prehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion { if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZBTTB re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the United Kingdom. Warrant issued. 4.— fy division.— For stealing, 3rd inst., a bicycLe, mandoline, banjo, and a blue serge suit ( recovered), green jacket suit, light green stripes, Saks and Co., Indianapolis, in yellow letters in- side pocket, large flaps to pockets, wide seams to trousers; dark grey overcoat, velvet cuffs and collar, check cap; black lace boots— HOWARD EDWARD STANTON, Office No. 623- 04, age 27, height 5 ft. li ins., complexion fresh, hair brown ( long and thin on top), eyes blue, was wearing the stolen clothing. Will probably visit provincial towns and describe himself as Will Stanton, comedian from America. 5.— X Division.— For stealing ( bailee) a van, WILLIAM LESTER, age 39, height 5 ft. 8 in., good build, complexion fresh, round face, straight nose, hair ( curly) light, eyes blue; dress, blue serge coat and vest, grey striped trousers, green soft felt hat, brown lace boots and leggings. A native of Kilburn. Is fond of horse racing and may be found in company of low horse dealers. Warrant issued. 6.— X Division.— For stealing from her lodgings, bed linen ( recovered), MARTHA GRIMES, age 61, height 4 ft. 11 ins., complexion fresh, hair and eyes grey, cut scar inside right forearm, wearing black cape, light blouse, black bonnet, lace boots. An Ironer, supposed a native of Notting Hill. Warrant issued. l.— Y Division.— For stealing, 22nd ult., 2 silver watches ( 1 Geneva, 1 lever), 1 yellow metal chain, 3' lady's gold rings ( 1 set blue stone, 1 set 18 pearls, 1 set 2 pearls 2 turquoises 1 gar- net), 4 brooches ( 1 gold set garnet and pearls, 1 star set brilliants, 1 butterfly set brilliants, 1 round set brilliants), 2 pins ( 1 gold set rubies and diamonds, 1 silver, " Invicta" thereon)— ERNEST DAVIES, Office No. S. 124920, age 25, height 5 ft. 10 in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, eyes brown; dress, blue serge suit, black bowler hat, double collar, lace boots; also EMMA DAVIES, alias HANES, age 24, height about 5 ft. 2 in., complexion fair, hair light brown; dress, i ' I coat, brown skirt, grey fur toque ( trimmed brown velvet), grey fur, black button shoes. WALTER WILSON, age about 19, height about 5ft. 6in., slight build, complexion fresh, hair light brown, slight moustache ( light), Herefordshire or Welsh accent, dress brown suit, square cut jacket, blue muffler, grey cap with black stripes, reddish waist belt, brown boots, silver ring on third right finger. A labourer or vanman. He took lodgings 5th inst., and stated he had been piomised work at Wilmington. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cooper, Northwich. A groom or farm labourer, native of j Stonedge, Asliover. At various times he has tra- , veiled with an entire horse. May be found at an outlying farm, livery stables, or collieries. Warrant issued. T." or " H. T. E." on one, a quantity of naval officer's uniform, one brown bag, six coloured shirts, two white shirts, one green felt hat, four pairs of fancy socks, twelve collars size 15, six pairs of white kid gloves, and two pairs of brown buckskin gloves— JAMES HAYNES, age about 21, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., slight build, complexion fair, sharp features, eyes blue, ( peculiar appearance, deeply lined under- neath), hair ( long on top) brown, takes short quick steps. Dress, smooth grey lounge suit with slit up back, cap. Supposed a native of Weymouth. He absconded from H. M. S. " Colne," 11th inst.; had heen employed as an officer's steward; former- ly a music- hall artist, and may seek similar em- ployment. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Devonport. Appearance of an actor. Has been em- ployed as a picture reader or lecturer of cine- matograph pictures. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Dryden, Darlington. ^- Stockton- on- Tees ( County).— V or stealing 13th inst., a motor- cycle engine and mag- neto ( recovered)— WILLIAM MONKHOUSE, alias THOMPSON, age about 19, height about 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair brown; dresa grey jacket suit, with broad, darker stripes, grey tweed cap, fluted band, shoes, carried a brown leather portmanteau. A labourer or barman. Na- tive of Gateshead. Sentenced at Barrow- in- Fur- ness 17th March, 1909, to one month's imprison- ment for being found on enclosed premises. Warrant issued. Co well, Brentwood. 15.— Southend ( County).— For stealing from their lodgings, 21st inst., a quantity of bed linen, quilts, etc. ( recovered) — REYNOLDS, age about 30, height about 5 ft 7 ins., hair and slight moustache brown, eyes dark, stutters; dress, dark jacket and vest, new grey trousers, dark cap, soft collar and safety pin. — REYNOLDS ( wife of above), age about 30, height about 5 ft. 2 ins., slight build, complexion pale, hair brown, pointed features; wearing brown fur to. pie hat, trimmed grev silk, necklet to match. Had with them a child, aire 4 months, a small mailcart, " Tanner, 8, Weston Road, ' painted on bottom bar, and two bicycles. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Marden, Southend- on- Sea. glamorga nshire. 16-— Bridgend ( County). — For failing to surrender to his bail at Glamorgan Assizes, charged with obtaining money by a worthless cheque EVAN THOMAS, age 48, height 5 ft, o ms., very stout build, complexion fresh, full round face, hair and eyes grey, a cripple, suffers from partial paralysis of legs, usee sticks, addicted to drink, slight American accent; dress, dark blue serge suit, bowler hat, lace boots. Late of Llantris- 1 sant. Usually takes a cab or motor- car, and at the end of journey refuses to pay his fare. Has been in America. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davies, Bridgend. 17 - Cardiff ( City)— EVAN LEWIS, case 15, 31st March last, is identical with FREDERICK WHITE, Office No. S. 118956, age 32, height 5 ft. 5 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, mole right side of face, scar fore and middle fin- gers left hand. Warrant issued. Information to the Head Constable, Cardiff. GL OUCES TERSHiRE. 18. Chipping Sodhury ( County).— For stealing 24th inst., at Range worthy, a chestnut pony aged, 13^ hands, white streak down face, chipped knees, lost right eye, swish tail, a set of black harness, white mounts, one trace repaired with wire ; and an old trap, green body, red wheels, " Albert James " believed thereon, PATRICK McGUINNESS, age 28, height 5 ft. 6 ins., hair dark, clean shaved, dress navy blue suit and cap, lace boots. A native of Leicester. Arrested, see case No. 100. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Phelps, Chipping Sodbury. HAMPSHIRE. 19.— Aldershot ( County).— For obtaining a « oat by false pretences 1st inst.— THOMAS EASTHAM, age 23, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes bluet, scar back of left thumb, and on left cheek; dress dark tweed suit and cap. A native of Blackburn. Is a deserter from the 3rd Dragoon Guards. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hawkins, Aldershot. 20.— Alton ( County).— For stealing, during October, 1910, a silver watch and 2 chains ( re- covered)— A MAN, age 34, height 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, complexion pale, hair dark brown, clean shaved, eyes blue, snake, tree, and heart left forearm, pansy right forearm; dress dark tweed suit, hard bowler hat. A tramping tailor. Stays at common lodging- house6. Information to Supt. Reuben, Alton. 21.— Portsmouth ( Borough). — For leaving his children chargeable to the Parish— GEORGE PERRIN, alias PERRING, age 43 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 10 ins., broad build, right shoulder droops slightly, complexion fresh, hair ( bald on top anil moustache light, eyes ( rather large) blue. A sawyer. Believed to have absconded about a month ago. Warrant issued. 22 — Portsmouth ( Borough).— For obtaining 5s. by false pretences, 2nd inst., ERNEST WILLIAM HOUGHTON, age 24, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., com- plexion pale, may be growing a beard, cross and dot left forearm, is a deserter from H. M. S. Grafton and may be wearing seaman's uniform. Warrant issued. 23.— Portsmouth ( Borough.).— For failing to surrender to his bail, 25th inst., charged with stealing a zinc bath, 15th inst., GEORGE BARTLETT, age 24, height 5 ft. 10 ins., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, dress fawn colour covert coat or mackintosh, dark trousers, neckerchief, plaid cap. May be found hawking ferns and flowers. Warrant issued. 24 — Portsmouth ( Vorough).— For fniling to surrender to his bail, 11th inst.. charged with stealing 10 table knives, LEONARD TOWNSEND, age 34, height 5 ft.. 5 or 6 ins., good build, complexion fresh, full face, hair dark brown, dress, dark coat and vest, dark cord trousers, green muffler, dark cap. HER TFORDSHIRE. 25.— Bishop's Stortford ( County).— For failing to appear to a summons under the Old- Age Pension Act, 1908— SARAH JANE CLARY, age 70(, height about 5 ft., complexion fresh, hair grey, eyes brown, walks with two crutches;' dress black three- quarter length jacket, tights fitting j black skirt, and bonnet trimmed white frilling. ! Sells flowers ( made of rushes) at race meet- ings, football matches, etc., sometimes sings i » public houses, and will probably be found at a common lodging house. Warrant issuvd. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Hitchin. 27. — St. AlhaiiS ( City).— For stealing 17th inst., a piano organ ( recovered)— HARRY WIL- SON, age 34 to 36, height 5 ft. 7 ins., stout build, red face, rather long features, hair and moustache light, very short sighted; dress, greenish striped jacket and vest, velvet cord trousers, dark cap, dark neckerchief with white spots. SI.— Maidstone ( Borough).— For obtaining food between 10th and 18th inst., by false pretences, EDWARD KEELEY, age 44 ( looks'younger), height about 5ft. 6ins , complexion fair, hair inclined to ginger light, right arm deformed, right foot artificial; dress dark suit and cap, lace ( knee) boots, wore the South African war medal ribbon. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, Maidstone. 32Ramsgate ( Borough).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretence^, between 7th and 12th inst.— PERCIVAL LANE, age about 20, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., good build, complexion fresh, slight moustache; dress brownish jacket suit, greenish cap, silver albert, Maltese cross at- tached, small metal badge in jacket. Represented that he was in the employ of a London builder,, and was employed in the neighbourhood. Is & lse suspected of stealing a gold albert, flat links, long and short alternately chased, gold swivel seal, red and green stone. Warrant issued. 33.— Ramsgate ( Borough).— For obtaining by false pretences a mole- colour coat and skirt, " Bourne and Sons " on tab of coat, 8th inst.— — WOOD, age about 25, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., stout build, complexion ruddy, round face; dress grey coat, green skirt, large straw hat, trimmed ribbon She presented a letter purporting to have been from a nurse at Broadstairs, asking that the costume be sent on approval Warrant issued. MONMOUTHSHIRE. 34.— Abergavenny ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) a bicycle ( recovered)— RICHARD TURNER, age about 22, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 ins., complexion fair, hair light, bad teeth, jockey'i head and R. T. left forearm, Rose right wrist; dress, dark giey mixture coat, vest, and breeches, drab colour leggings, horse's head on vest but- tons. Appearance of a groom. Warrant issued. NORFOLK. 35.— Holt ( County). — For absconding with workhouse clothing, 12th inst.— WILLIAM THOMAS PEGG, age 62, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 ins., hair and full beard ( clipped) grey, eyes dark, wears an elastic stocking on one leg; dress blue coat and vest, light cord trousers, heavy nailed boots, shirts and pants, marked " Erpingham Union, No. 29." BERKSHIRE. 30.— Wokingham [ County).— Fur stealing a lady's gold keyless watch, blue and red designs on dial, chafed back, shield in centre; 9 ct. gold albeit; lady's white metal watch coloured stars 011 dial ; gold horse shoe brooch, flowers each side ; gold coloured ring, white stone, and handkerchief marked H. B. — JOHN EVVING alias JOHN McKERNS, Office No. 1062- 09 ( see cases 8, 6th January; 15, 27th January and 48, 17th February 1911), age 23, height, 5 ft. 6f ins., complexion, fresh, hair dark brown, eyes grey, scar left wrist, dress, nearly new navy blue suit, marked " Jackson, Reading," dark grey overcoat, white shirt, marked " London Glove Company," all stolen. Obtains names and addresses of persons who have friends in Canada and pretends to have brought mes- sages from them, also offers to convey messages to Canada on returning. Takes the opportunity of stealing anything of value or obtains money by stating that he has lost his purse. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Goddard, Wokingham. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued).— NORTHAMPTONSHIRE- 87.— Kattaring ( County). — For stealing a black vicuna Chesterfield overcoat, 1 pair tan colour gloves, fur around wrists; 1 brown knotted stick, curved handle, silver mounted, and silver band.— TED CURTIS, age about 23, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 ins., complexion fair, hair light brown, slight moustache light; dress, black frock coat, fancy light vest, light brown soft hat, pink front, bright red tie, patent leather boots. He calls up- o.- i Music Hall managers, etc., states he is in the theatrical profession, but out of employment, and asks assistance to enable him to return to London. May be found singing comic songs in public houses. Stays at common lodging houses. Warrant issued. Informaton to Supt. Hooper, Kettering. NO TTINGHA MS HIRE. 38 — Nottingham { City).— For obtaining by false pretences betwee* 22nd ult. and 8th inst., 3 typewriters ( 1 a No. 5 Underwood, No. 299235; 1 No. 4 Yost, No. 54916; 1 do.
