NOTICE.— For instructions ae to the manner in whioh reports are required to be furnished for the compila- tion of the Police Gazette see Gazette No. 1 of this year. The arrest of offenders described in the Police Gazette, or respecting whom crime reports have been forwarded for insertion in the Gazette, should be promptly notified by the member of the Force effecting the arrest. When notifying the arrest of persons charged with theft or suspeoted of theft, it should be stated whether the pro- perty stolen, or any portion of it, has been recovered. A description of property supposed to be stolen, found in the possession of offenders, for whioh owners cannot be found, should be furnished for insertion in the Gazette. All oommunioations concerning this Gazette should be addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Wellington, and the envelope marked " For Gazette." Members of the Force in oharge of out- stations will forward them direct. PERSONS WANTED. AUCKLAND.— 16th ultimo, on warrant for obtaining a pair of boots, value £ 1, from James Adams, boot- importer, by false pretences, Eleanor E. Christian, alias Wil liams, age thirty- three, height 5 ft. 5 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark - brown hair, hazel eyes, upper teeth artificial, scar over left eye ; well dressed in green costume, straw bat with red flowers. ( See Police Gazette, 1910, page 512.) She may be found living with a man named Williams. Her foster- parents reside at Hastings. Another charge pending. AUCKLAND.— 12th August last, on warrant of commit- ment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £ 2 7s. 6d. arrears due for the maintenance of his cKfld in the Auckland Industrial School, Joseph Brady, age twenty- two, height 5 ft. 6£ in., labourer, native of New Zea- land, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, large nose. ( See Police Gazette, 1910, page 269.) HUNTLY.— 31st ultimo, on warrant for forg ng a cheque for £ 12 8s., and uttering the same to William Ernest Swain, William Black, age twenty - eight, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer and seaman, native of England, medium build, dark- brown hair inclined to curl, fresh complexion, grey eyes, clean- shaved, regular features, small scar on left oheek; dressed in dark - tweed sac suit and cap ; rough appearance ; fond of drink. Offender was employed by William Close, settler, Rauwaro, and stole three blank cheques out of his cheque- book, and forged the name of his employer, William Close, to the one uttered as above. Another charge pending. THAMES.— 23rd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to the Thames Prison for three days in default ot paying £ 1 fine and costs for hawking without a license, Richard Evans, age about thirty- five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., supposed native of New Zealand, slight build, fair com- plexion, dark- brown hair, moustache only; untidy appear- ance. The distress warrant issued against him has been cancelled, and the above warrant issued. ( See Police Gazette, 1910, page 515.) NAPIEB.— 6th instant, that he may be compelled to pro- vide for the maintenance of his child in Wellington Receiving Home, James Wilson, age twenty- six, height 5 ft. 2Jin., waiter, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, large nose, scar on forehead and on back of left hand. DANNEVIRKK.— 29th ultimo, that a warrant of distress may be executed on him for 15s. fine and costs for a breach of the Licensing Act, Thomas Aitken, age twenty five, height 5 ft. 8jin., ex hotelkeeper, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, clean- shaved, respectable appearance ; generally wears grey- tweed suit and hard hat or cap. HAWERA.— 8th November last, on warrant of commit- ment to the New Plymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £ 3 3s. fine and costs for obscene language, Joseph Halliday, age twenty- six, height 5 ft. 9in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, dark complexion and hair, clean- shaved except small dark moustache ; shabby appearance ; fond of drink. TAIHAPE.— John Carmody, wanted that a summons may be served on him, left Ngaruawahia on 17th ultimo by night train in company with Alexa der Bishop, suppostd for Frankton or Auckland. I JAN. 11 PALMERSTON NORTH.— 10th ultimo, on warrant for being in possession of a mould for making counterfeit coin, Mick Bitossi, age about twenty- four, height 5ft. 4rin. or 5in., plaster- model maker and labourer ( hawks statutory), native of Italy, dark complexion, long black hair, black eyes, clean- shaved, active build; wears dark suit and cap. A man named O'Loughlin was arrested with counterfeit coins in his possession, and a number of plaster- of- paris moulds. He stated that Bitossi, with whom he worked at Craw's flax- mill, Linton, had given him the coins and moulds. Bitossi is supposed to have come to Wellington on the 10th ultimo. LEVIN.— 12th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £ 5 15s. fine and costs for playing two- up, John Thomas Kennedy, age twenty- seven, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, long nose, cut above right eyebrow. Roberts, age thirty- five, height 5ft. 10in. or 11 in., fireman, native of England, stiff build, fair complexion, fair moustache, grey eyes, re- spectably dressed. W. E. Silverwood, age forty- five, height 5 ft. 10 in., fireman, native of England, slight build, fair moustache turning grey, weak- kneed, stooped, turns out feet when walking. A reward of £ 1 each will be paid for their apprehension. WELLINGTON.— 5th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s. s. " Ionia," Joshua Kelly, age not obtainable, height 5 ft. 8J in., trimmer, blue eyes, brown hair, " T. R. K." tattooed on right forearm. A reward of £ 2 will be paid for his apprehension. WELLINGTON.— 13th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s. s. " Gertie," T. West, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., fireman, native of Ireland, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache only. WELLINGTON.— 7th instant, on warrant for theft of £ 3 7s., the money of Sydney Gerald Cole, dairyman, Charles Fish, age twenty- eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., driver, native of England, medium build, dark hair, slightly bald, dark moustaohe clipped short, a loud quick talker; dressed in blue- serge suit and straw hat. Offender was employed delivering milk for complainant, and appropriated the above amount to his own use. Other charges pending. WELLINGTON.— 10th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s. s. " Morere," Thomas Curme, age twenty- nine, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes, fair mous- taohe, anchor tattooed on left arm, slightly bow- legged; dressed in dark- dungaree trousers, dark coat, and greenish- brown ooloured hat. WELLINGTON.— 10th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s. s. " Delphic," John Johnson, age twenty- six, height 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, native of England, blue eyes, brown hair, fresh complexion, " In Memory of my Mother" tattooed on left arm, cast in one eye ( supposed right). A reward of £ 1 will be paid for his apprehension. WELLINGTON.— 4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegiti- mate child, Arthur Bradley, age tweuty- five, height 5 ft. 7in., labourer, native of New South Wales, fair complexion and hair, grey eyes, olean- shaved ; dressed in brown suit and green- felt hat. " Clan MacLaren," Donald McClymott, age twenty- eight, height 5ft. 8in., fireman, native of Scotland, slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, " True Love" and star tattooed on left arm. A reward of £ 2 will be paid for his apprehension. WELLINGTON.— 13th instant, that he may be compelled to comply with an order of the Court to pay 6s. a week for the maintenance of Beatrice Sparrow, an inmate of Caversham Industrial School, Charles Heron, age thirty- six, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook, native of Tasmania, thin build, dark com- plexion, black hair, dark- hazel eyes. MOUNT COOK ( WELLINGTON).— 3rd ultimo, that a copy of minute of order may be served on him for the maintenance of his wife and child, James Stafford Adams, age thirty- four, height 5ft. 8in., ex- hotelkeeper and carpenter, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, clean- shaved, respectable appearance; usually wears dark suit and bard black hat. He is owner of the racehorse Merrie Zealand, and follows up race- meetings. His brother, Lacey Adams, is proprietor of a hotel at Lyttelton. BLENHEIM.— 21st ultimo, on warrant for removing pro- perty of the value of £ 30 within two years of being declared a bankrupt, Edgar Charles Quartly, age about twenty- five, height 5 ft. 6 in. or 7 in., draper and music seller, slight build, fair complexion, rather sharp features, pointed chiu, clean- shaved ; generally wears light- grey tweed suit. He is a good elocutionist, and fond of reciting at concerts, & c. He was seen in Auckland about a month ago, and may be employed as a draper. NELSON.— 18th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Nelson Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £ 3 13s. fine and costs for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, James Price, age fifty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, brown moustache. DENNISTON.— 10th instant, that a summons may be served on him for procuring liquor for a prohibited person, John Robson ( known as Sailor Jack), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., miner and sailor, native of England, short stiff build, square jaws, fresh complexion, dark- brown hair and moustache, husky voice, sings comic songs ; fond of drink, and will be found about hotels. BLACKWATER. — 19th ultimo, that a summons may be served on him for being drunk and disorderly, Joseph Bradley, age twenty- four, height 5ft. 11 in., miner and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair, thin face, large nose, clean- shaved ; dressed in blue- dungaree trousers, blue coat, elastic- side boots, and cap. CHRISTCHURCH.— 4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide his wife, Rebecca McCabe, with adequate means of support, Patrick McCabe, alias Boylan, age forty- six, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, ruddy tanned complexion, black hair turning grey, scar on left side of head, hands very rough, walks slowly ; is a heavy smoker ; usually wears dark clothes. I JAN. 11 CHRISTCHUKCH. - John William Clelland, wanted on warrant for assault, was seen in Sydney about a month ago, where he was trying to get a position on board a ship. WAIMATE.— 22ud ultimo, that steps may be taken to com- pel him to pay arrears due for the maintenance of his child in St. Vincent de Paul's Home, William Summers, age thirty- six, height 5 ft. 4f in., labourer, native of New Zea- land, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark- brown eyes, mole on neck, scar on right thigh. DUNEDIN.— On or about 13th ultimo, on warrant for a breach of the Bankruptcy Act, Charles Hastings Bradley, age thirty, height oft. 7in., sawmiller, native of Tasmania, sallow complexion, slight dark moustache, general insignificant appearance but good muscular develop- ment, a light- weight boxer, right eye blind, grey blotched appearance. He owes over £ 300 to his employees at the mill, and is suposed to have left for Tasmania after drawing £ 60 from the licensee of Chick's Hotel, which he was hold- ing for him. DUNEDIN.— 30th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentle- men's Red Bird bicycle, value £ 5, James Brown ( name supposed fictitious), age iwenty- two, height 5 ft. 8 in., thin features, dark hair and complexion ; dressed in dark- grey suit and straw bat, was wearing a silver chain with two medals attached ( one of them being gold- mounted). The above- described man sold the bicycle for £ 1 to Mrs. Austin, a second- hand dealer. AKROWTOWN.— 28tli ultimo, on warrant for obtaining £ 1 10s. from Joseph Polasehek by means of a valueless cheque, James Eastes, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in. or 9 in., stout build, dark complexion and hair, clean- shaved except dark- brown moustache; dressed in striped tweed suit ; has the appearance of drinking to access. He travels the country, selling bicycles. INVERCARGILL.— 15th ultimo, on warrant of commit- ment to Invercargill Prison for six months for disobey- ing an order of the Court to pay 6s. a week for the maintenance of his illegitimate child, Thomas Leonard, age forty- one, height 5ft. 5J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion and hair, dark moustache only, brown eyes ( one of them badly affected with sandy- blight) ; dressed in old blue suit, boots cut open above toes, ( See Police Gazette, 1909, page 04, and 1910, page 526.) WAIICINO. — On 25th ultimo, the property of THOMAS ROWLANDS, labourer, a gentlemen's saddle, with large knee- pads, the seat of saddle has been scratched with barbed wire, rusty steel stirrup irons, two blue- cotton girths, and breast- plate ; value, £ 2 10s.
