SPECIAL NOTICE. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. PRISONERS UNDER REMAND. THE aid of the Metropolitan Police is frequently sought by other Police Forces to make inquiries re- specting the antecedents of prisoners under remand, and such inquiries often result in identifying accused persons as being old offenders. But, in many cases, the time allowed for such inquiries is so brief that effect cannot be given to the request for information or that it can be complied with only in a perfunctory manner, and at great inconvenience. The Editor would therefore suggest, in the interest of the Provincial Police Forces, that four clear days, at least, should be allowed in cases of the kind, to complete the inquiries asked for.
