All T. „ REGXTLATIOHTS communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communications relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE GAZETTE NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. ' 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. J 3. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6 Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences will be inserted at a cost of 8s. per portrait, and engravings of stolen property at a cost of 6. c per photograph or sketch, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the charge will be higher. A remittance of 6.9. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. A nnouneements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the ' act, referring to the number of the announcement for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcement will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only ; they must be in the usual form , and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The charge for such insertion { if accepted) will be given on application. 14. All copies of the POLICE GAZETTE re- transmitted by Police Forces should be prepaid at the ordinary rate for printed matter sent by post within the. United Kingdom. Warrant issued. 3.— C Division.— For stealing ( bailee), 12th ult., a pearl necklace ( recovered)— LEON DE MEULEMEESTER, alias FOXEY and VER- STRATE, age about 35, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fair, hair light; dress, blue serge suit, hard felt hat, patent leather boots with light cloth uppers. A native of Bruges, Belgium. ( See Case No. 2, 22nd ult.) Warrant issued. 4.— G Division. — For embezzling £ 20, 20th ult.— WILLIAM BARKER, age about 45, height about 6 ft. 2 in., good build, complexion ruddy, full face, hair and eyes brown, clean shaved ; wearing dark clothing, hard felt hat with flat top, sometimes wears leggings. Supposed a native of London, of horsey appearance. Warrant issued. 5.— C Division>— For burglary and stealing a cheque book containing 38 blank cheques, numbers from B. 333313, on the London and South- Western Bank, Great Portland Street branch— CAPTAIN MOLESWORTH, age 35, height 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, complexion fresh, hair light, moustache sandy ( clipped short), of good address; dress, blue serge jacket and vest, light trousers, black hard felt hat. 6 — K Division.— For stealing, 28th ult., a light bay mare pony, age 7, 14£ bands, thick set, medium mane, tail docked, small white patch on tip of nose, small bone projecting under jaw near side, in good condition, a set of old brass mounted harness — TWO MEN, 1st, age about 30,- height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., good build, hair and moustache sandy - wearing light overcoat; 2nd, age about 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build. 7.— p Division.— For embezzling £ 861 7s. 4d. — ALEXANDER CHAMBERS, age 33, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair black, turns his toes inwards; dress, black morning coat and vest, dark trousers, black tie, silk hat. Warrant issued. 8.— S Division.— For obtaining £ 1 by false pretences, 16th ult.— LILIAN BELL, age 45, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., stout build, complexion ruddy, hair brown, eyes blue ; dress, dark dress, fawn colour cape, white apron, black hat. Hawks ferns. Stated she had two imbecile children ( one an inmate of Earls- wood Asylum), and needed assistance to obtain admittance for the other. Warrant issued. BERKSHIRE. £ 2 Reward. 10.— Windsor ( County).— For leaving his children chargeable to the Windsor Union— THOMAS FRANCIS COAKLEY, age 33, height 6 ft. 2 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, heart and clasped hands across the sea left forearm. A native of Carragaline, Cork. Has served 12 years in the 1st Life Guards. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Holding, Windsor. BUCKINGHA MS HI RE. 11.— Slough ( County).— For stealing 2 brown Russia leather shoe uppers; 1 pair shoe lasts ; and a quantity of leather, at Eton, 15th ult.— L. KEARNES, age 60, height 5 ft. 3 in., complexion fresh, hair grey, heavy moustache and imperial white, eyes blue, Irish accent, walks erect; dress, dark clothing, cap and muffler. A tramping shoe- maker. Warrant issued. 12.— SBough ( County).— For stealing 2s. 6d. by trick, 14th ult.— GEORGE MACKAY, age 31, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache brown; dress, dark grey suit, brown cap, believed to have a thick sole on one boot, sometimes wears breeches, stockings, and grey motor cap. He calls upon domestic servants, solicits orders for bicycles, sewing machines, & c., obtains a deposit, but fails to send the goods. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Pearman, Slough. CA MBRIDGES HIRE. 13 — Cambridge ( Borough).— For conspiracy to defraud— ELIZABETH SQUIRES, age 35, height 5 ft. 1 in., complexion fresh, hair black, eyes brown ; LOUISA GREEN, age 24, height 5 ft. 1 in., com- plexion sallow, hair dark brown, eyes brown, each wearing a £ 5 piece brooch and half- sovereign earrings. They travel with a caravan, hawk carpets, rugs, & c., call upon tradesmen and publicans, represent that they are catering for a large party, and on the pre- tence that they will do a lot of business with the tradesmen, induce them to purchase a rug or carpet at a fabulous price. Squires has been previously convicted at Manchester, Chesterfield, Lincoln and Ilkeston. May be accompanied by two other women. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Cambridge. A rag gatherer, supposed a native of Salford. Accompanied by a 19th March last. Warrant with- woman, age 37, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, wearing a large brown shawl. DUBLIN METROPOLITAN POLICE. 16.— For failing to report— Licence- holder GEORGE MORGAN, alias PATRICK REGAN and JAMES QUINN, Office No. 1789- 01, age 59, height 5 ft. i\ in., complexion fresh, hair grey ( partly bald), eyes grey, scar right thumb, palm left hand, and back left wrist. A native of Ireland. Sentenced at Winchester County Sessions, 4th April, 1905, to 5 years penal servitude and remanet of former sentence for bur- glary. Liberated on 2nd licence 22nd ult., which expires 27th April, 1911, H. P. X. b. f. 4. He reported his arrival in Dublin 23rd ult., and left his; • registered address 26th ult. without reporting. ESSEX. 17.— Grays ( County).— For stealing a silver watch, scratch on inner case, a steel chain ( 2 six- pences, 1 Japanese, 1 Russian coin attached)— WILLIAM KING ( believed false), age 52, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion pale, thin face, hair grey; dress, double- breasted pilot suit, brown and white silk neckerchief, 5 Army ribbons on left side of vest. Stated he was a naval pensioner. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jordan, Grays. 18.— Romford ( County).— For obtaining 30s. by false pretences at Hornchurch 30th ult.— F. W. ROSS ( supposed false), age about 25, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fair, clean shaved, hair brown, scar upper lip; dress, green striped overcoat, black and white plaid vest, pink shirt, grey cap, purple tie, paste pin, violet socks, low shoes. He represented that he was a medical student, and applied for lodgings, stated he had a quantity of luggage at railway station on which he had to pay £ 3 carriage. The bank being closed, he obtained money as a loan and absconded. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. KEMPSTER, age 25, height 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, full red face, hair ( rather long at back), light brown, clean shaved, eyes blue, boyish appearance; dress, brown suit, light grey overcoat, light cap. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued). 20.— Bristol { City).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences between 22nd and 27th ult.— SIDNEY MURRAY, age about 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., slight build, complexion, moustache and heavy eyebrows dark, left forefinger deformed or part missing; dress, blue suit, peak cap with gold braid and a white square with " W" thereon. Stated he was the captain of a ship coaling at Cardiff'. Had in his possession a green enamelled bicycle, which he tried to sell. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Aldershot ( County).— For obtaining 21s. by false pretences, 28th ult.— WALTER JAMES BURT MYLES, age 34, height 5 ft. 6£ in., com- plexion fresh, hair and moustache brown, eyes grey. A reporter, native of Harwich. Is a Reservist of the 1st East Kent Regt. He called at a fried fish shop, stated he had been sent by the quartermaster of a regiment to sell 1 cwt. of dripping, received the money, gave a receipt and absconded. Warrant issued. Hawkins, Aldershot. 22.— Bournemouth ( County). — For em- bezzlement ( co- partner) — MAURICE JAMES GOODE, age 42, height 5 ft. in., complexion and hair ( turning grey) dark, eyes hazel, small mole centre of forehead, cut mark left eyebrow; dress, dark three- quarter length overcoat, dark suit, black bowler hat. A journalist, native of Wednesbury. May seek employment as canvasser for local guides, & c. Warrant issued. VS.— Bournemouth ( County).— For stealing a bicycle ( recovered)— A MAN, age 22, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion sallow, hair black, eyes brown, speaks broken English ; dress, dark jacket, light fancy vest, grey trousers with dark stripes, grey or green cap. An Italian waiter. 24. Bournemouth ( County).— For stealing 17th ult., a bicycle, free wheel, black enamelled, 28- in. frame and wheels, flat handle- bars, brown grips with black tips ( right missing), rim brakes, rat- trap pedals, saddle covered with brown and grey cloth, silver plated bell, oil lamp repaired at top with zinc, pump and tool bag attached— A MAN, age 53, height 5 ft. 8| in., stout build, c'omplexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue; dress, green striped suit, white muffler, green cap, nailed boots. A mason, native of Bourne- mouth. Information to Supt. Hack, Bournemouth. 25.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, also larceny— JACK GIBBS, alias JOHN SKALTON, age about 28, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fresh, small features, hair and slight moustache dark ( may be clean shaved), eyes brown; dress, dark tweed jacket, dark trousers, black alpaca vest, dark cap, black and red scarf, heavy boots cut at tops. Stated he was a plate- layer on the railway, and was employed in the neighbourhood. Warrant issued. 26.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For stealing money from an automatic gas meter — LUKE ERNEST GEORGE SUMMERS, age 42, height 5 ft. 5!,- in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown ( may be clean shaved); dress, dark poat and vest, grey trousers, black skull cap. HEREFORDSHIRE. 27.— Hereford ( County). — For stealing at Grafton 28th ult. a silver watch and chain ( recovered) - Licence- holder, FREDERICK MARTIN, Office No. 1233- 08, age 24, height 5 ft. 7 J in., complexion fresh, hair brown, clean shaved, eyes hazel- grey, scar bridge of nose, crown, clasped hands, " I. L. M. S.," sailor, woman's head, " I. L. S. I.," cross, and bracelet right, horseshoe, shoe, horse's head, and " I LOVE" left forearm; dress, pepper- and- salt coloured coat, brown cord breeches, dark cap, brown leather leggings, brown boots. WOOD, age about 45, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, complexion sallow, thin face, hair and moustache ( turning grey) brown, extensive tattoo marks arms, hands and fingers ; dress, blue reefer jacket, black buttons, blue vest, brass anchor buttons, blue trousers, P. and 0. cap, leather peak and strap. He took lodgings, stated he was a ship's engineer paid off from the " Orient" at Cardiff and was expecting his pay. Absconded 30th ult. Warrant issued. 29 — Watford ( County).— For obtaining 2 antique Worcester jugs ( 1 pint, 1 half- pint) by false pretences, 29th ult. STEWART, age about 35, height 5 ft. 4| in., good build, hair ( bushy) black ( turning grey), large eyes, flat nose, bad teeth; dress, brown suit, green soft felt hat. An artist. Warrant issued. LANCASHIRE. 30.— Bury ( County).— For stealing, at Radcliffe, between 29th September and 10th ult., a large quantity of builders' tools— JAMES HAYES, alias BURKE or BOOKER, age 50, height 5 ft. 3 in., complexion fresh, very red cheeks and nose, hair brown, turning grey. A bricksetter's labourer. Addicted to drink. Warrant issued. 31.— Bury ( County).— For stealing, at Radcliffe, a suit of clothes, 1 mackintosh, 1 shirt, 2 collars, and a pair of stockings— JOHN WILLIAM CORLESS, age 24, height 5 ft. G or 7 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes brown. A collier. Is a reservist of the Lancashire Fusiliers. Native of Burnley. ERNEST COWGILL, age 30, height 5 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion fresh, hair brown. Has served in the Navy. A native of Burnley. Warrants issued. Information to Supt. Noblett, Bury. 32.— Old Trafford ( County).— For failing to surrender to bail on a charge of larceny at Salford Hundred Sessions 25th ult.— LOUIS BRENSTEIN, age 24, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown, half third finger right hand missing. A Russian Jew. Left Manchester at the end of September accompanied by his wife and child, age about 2. A trade broker. Has resided in London and Birmingham. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. MERIONETHSHIRE. 33.— Barmouth ( County).— For obtaining money by false pretences— WILLIAM HILL, age about 26, height about 5 ft. in., complexion very fair, clean shaved, eyes blue, upper teeth artificial; dress, thick navy blue serge suit, cap. A gardener, stated he was a native of Hale, Cheshire, and had been employed for 5 years at Clebrans Nurseries, Altrincham. Warrant issued. 34.— Barmouth ( County).— For obtaining money by false pretences— MARIA ELIZABETH WILLIS, age about 28, height about 5 ft. 3 in., complexion clear, full face, hair brown, eyes blue, inclined to be stout; dress, green striped tweed coat, large black hat with green wing. Accompanied by a boy, age about 5, red hair. Warrant issued. Information to Inspector Owen, Barmouth. NORFOLK. 35.— Norwich ( City).— For stealing the upper part of a set of artificial teeth, set in 18- ct. gold, 29th ult. LAWRENCE, age about 26, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, rather long thin face, hair ( long) very dark, clean shaved, wearing the stolen teeth, North country accent, appears well educated; dress, blue serge double breasted jacket suit, black bowler hat, lace boots, gold horseshoe pin, heavy gold link double chain, snake ring on 3rd right finger, had with him a brown overcoat. He called on a firm of teeth manufacturers 26th ult., had a tooth extracted, ordered part of a set to be ready by 29th ult., on which date ho again called, the assistant handed him the teeth which he fitted, then produced a telegram purporting to be from a solicitor, the assistant went into another room and Lawrence decamped. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Guildhall, Norwich. OXFORDSHIRE. 36.— Woodstock ( County).— For stealing a silver keyless watch, No. 1540, maker " Kirner, Queen Street, Oxford," inside ; 1 silver Geneva watch, dial broken near figure 7, and £ 1 9s. 6d.— A MAN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., slight build, moustache ( waxed at ends) light brown, of smart ap- pearance ; dress, dark grey jacket and trousers, fancy vest, gilt buttons, black bowler hat with narrow brim. Had with him a bicycle, dropped handle- bars, small brown suit case strapped on back carrier. He was selling postcards, writing names on same then applied a rough substance which gave them a glittering pale green appearance. Information to Inspector Lambourn, Woodstock. SHROPSHIRE. 37.— Ludlow ( County).— For obtaining a hamper containing 360 eggs by false pretences, at Craven Arms, on 23rd April, 1909— JAMES WRIGHT, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown turning grey ( may grow a beard); dress ( usually) dark coat and vest, black trousers, hard felt hat. Has lived at Heckmondwike and Batley, Yorkshire, and represented himself to be a fish and game dealer, left that district in August last. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Perry, Ludlow. ST A FFORDSHIRE. 38.— Lichfield ( County).— For stealing, be- tween 22nd and 24th ult., at Orgreave, a Raleigh bicycle, 3- speed gear, back- pedalling brake, 28- in. wheels, plated rims, rubber pedals, inverted lever front brake, raised handle- bars, black grips, Warwick tyres, black enamelled, green lined, " Raleigh" transfer on head, plated carrier on back, Bleumel pump, usual parts plated, No. 204818— A MAN, age about 30, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., slight build; dress, grey suit and cap, green tie, safety pin, brown boots ( much worn). He attempted to dispose of the bicycle at Leek on 25th ult., and stated he was going to Lancashire. Information to Supt. Oakden, Lichfield. 39.— Longton ( County).— For causing a child to beg ( Cruelty to Children Act, 1908)— ANDREW TOWEY, age 38, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion swarthy, hair black, moustache and eyes dark brown, cast in right eye, . which is sunken. A native of Hanley. HANNAH TOWEY, age 38, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes brown, lump under right cheek. A native of Harriseahead. Both shabbily dressed. May be ac- companied by a boy, age 14, and 2 younger children. May be found begging. Warrant issued. 40.— Longton ( County).— For stealing ( bailee) 10s., 30th ult.— JAMES RICHARDS, age 26, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion fresh, hair light, eyes brown, lame right leg, supposed by diseased hip; dress, brown jacket and vest, light brown trousers, dark cap and muffler. Has been employed distrib- uting bills. Supposed a native of Wolverhampton. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Grove, Longton. WILTSHIRE. 41.-- Salisbury ( City).— For stealing 28th ult., a patent check till ( recovered) and about 12s.— A MAN, age 20 to 25, height 5 ft. 3 or 4 in., believed clean shaved; wearing dark brown clothing, grey cap. Appearance of a tramp. He left his boots behind and when last seen was endeavouring to purchase a pair. Information to the Chief Constable, Salisbury. WORCESTERSHIRE. 42.— Worcester ( City).— For stealing from his lodgings, 28th ult., a watch and chain ( recovered), a green knitted vest with brass buttons— JOHN EDWARDS ( supposed false), age about 35, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion and hair dark, moustache ( waxed at ends) black; wearing blue melton over- coat, three- quarter length, bowler hat, ring, believed set imitation diamonds, on left little finger. He took lodgings, stated he wanted to write a letter, stole the . above articles and decamped, the watch and chain were found pledged. Information to the Chief Constable, Worcester. YORKSHIRE ( North Riding). 43— North Or meshy ( County). — For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences at South Bank 18th and 19th ult.— ABRAHAM FAIRCLOUGH, age 31, height 5 ft. 4| in., com- plexion fresh, hair light brown ( bald in front), eyes grey, 3 fingers left hand contracted, speaks with South country accent; dress, dark brown check coat, light brown motor cap, black tie, black, red, and green muffler, lace boots, cuffs, carried a dark stick with round knob. Native of Upholland, Lanes. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Dennis, North Ormesby. PERSONS IN CUSTODY.
