All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOII OF THE POLICE GAZETTE, ! NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. 2. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. B. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4. hi all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of os. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. 6. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required tu be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. . TIONS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by ait officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. S. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far us practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. y. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice ol the fact, rejernng to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11 Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not luter than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Sew Scotland Yard, ' oy Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13 The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. The Chief Officer of every Police Force throughout the United Kingdom is urgently requested to specially bring to the notice of each member of his Force the particulars appearing in Cases No. 2, of the " Police Gazette" of the 13th inst., and No. 5 of the 20th inst., re WILLIAM WARD, wanted far murder in the Metropolitan Police District. The man referred to is still at large. He is believed to be practically without means, and to be tramping the country. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. CITY OF LONDON. 3.— For embezzling £ 119 10s.— REGINALD JOHN CURTIS, age 22, height 5 ft. 10 in., good build, complexion pale, hair very dark, slight moustache dark, eyes sunken; dress, dark brown suit, dark overcoat, hard felt hat. A YRSHIRE. 4.— Ayr ( County). — For obtaining money by false pretences, between 21st and 30th ult.— JAMES WILSON, age about 43, height about 5 ft. 5 in., square build, oomplexion fresh, hair and moustache ( mixed with grey) brown, left elbow joint ulcerated, one or more fingers of both hands missing, slightly lame one leg, of good address; wearing long grey tweed overcoat, soft green hat, light boots. Stated he was a photographer. He called at houses, asked to see the occupiers, to whom he exhibited his injuries, and stated he had to give up indoor employment on account of his being con- sumptive, and was soliciting subscriptions with a view to purchasing a photographic outfit to enable him to follow outdoor employment; also presented a manuscript book, bearing an inscription corres- ponding with the statements. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable of Ayrshire, Ayr. CARMARTHENSHIREv 7.— LI and Ho ( County).— For stealing, 24 th August last, a silver watch, " T. J." engraved on back; 1 lady's long gold guard, large gold locket attached; 1 pair trousers; 1 navy blue vest and cap; and — BENJAMIN MORRIS, alias EVANS and EVAN RICHARDS, age 29, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes grey, scar back of head and over left eye, blue dot back of right hand, top of right little linger crushed. A native of Pembrey. 8.— LI and Ho ( County).— For stealing £ 13, 12th inst.— ALBERT E. LONGLEY, age 21, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue. A native of London. Has been in an Industrial School. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Llandilo. CARNARVONSHIRE. 9.— Bangor ( County).— For obtaining money by forged letters and telegrams— HARRY WIL- LIAMS, age 34, height 5 ft. 0J in., complexion fresh, hair brown. A native of Bangor. Was a timekeeper on the L. and N. W. Railway, also a chorister ( baritone). Convicted of larceny at Llandudno in August, 1905. May be found sing- ing on licensed premises or at Church Army Homes, & c. He obtained the money from church officials in name of Edward Edwards. Warrant issued. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, Bangor. CHESHIRE. 10.— Oukin field ( County). — For stealing, 16th inst., at Hollingworth, mare, & c., Case No. 13, 20th inst. ( recovered)— GEORGE EDWARD NICHOLSON, age about 20, height about 5 ft. 6 in., stout build, complexion and hair dark, clean shaved, full face, well educated; dress, dark grey check suit, light mackintosh, green cap, tie fastens with gold ring, brown boots, may be wearing a white muffler, wore a gold watch and chain. Has been a turf and commission agent; supposed a native of Halifax. Has stayed at Pendleton, Old- ham, Whitchurch, and Southoweram, near Halifax. Frequents race meetings. Warrant issued. Grove ( County).— For stealing from his lodgings at Cheadle, 17th inst., 3 plain gold studs; 1 pair brown shoes, fancy fronts, white canvas lining, stamped " Jager" in gold, size 9; 1 pair patent leather boots, elastic sides, size 9; and £ 1 10s.— A MAN, age 40 to 45, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., complexion fresh, high cheek bones, thin features, hair dark brown, supposed clean shaved, cut mark left cheek, birth mark on nose; dress, dark jacket, buff colour vest, dark tweed trousers, green peak cap, dark grey tweed over- coat, small gold keyless watch. He took temporary lodgings and stated he was going to reside at a local villa permanently. ( Supposed identical with Man, Case No. 14, 20th inst.) Information to Supt. Dutton, Hazel Grove. 12.— Lisoard ( County).— For obtaining 7s. 6d by false pretences— EMILY JONES, age 40 to 45, height 15 ft. 2 or 3 in., complexion and hair dark, of good address; dress, short dark tight> fitting jacket, black skirt, black straw sailor hat, bog oak brooch ( shape of hand), fastened at top of jacket. A native of Addingham, Yorks. Sentenced at Bridgwater Quarter Sessions, 24th October, 1905, to 4 years penal servitude for larceny and false pretences. Licensed 5 th inst. He takes lodg- ings and represents he lias recently been discharged from the Artillery on pension. He also describes himself as a groom in the employ of an army officer. Has been convicted at Skipton, Preston, Leeds, and Exeter. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Exeter. ESSEX. 15.— Epping ( County).— For obtaining 21 pigs, by a worthless cheque— HARRY ANSELL, age about 26, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., complexion pale, hair brown, slight moustache light; wearing light brown overcoat, sometimes wears a light colour mackintosh, hard felt hat. Warrant issued. 16.— Epping ( County).— For obtaining a dark green Raili car, lined broad black, rubber tyres, brass fittings, " Saward Epping" on wheel caps, by a worthless cheque, 7th inst.— HARRY AN- SELL, age about 50, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., stout build, complexion florid, hair and heavy mous- tache dark brown, eyes grey or blue; dress1, black overcoat, dark trousers with light stripes, black hard hat, sometimes a soft felt hat, wore a gold colour curb pattern watch chain. A barmaid; native of Stetchworth, Cambridge- shire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Frogley, Hemel Hemp- stead. KENT. 19 — Canterbury ( City).— For stealing, 22nd inst., a dark waterproof cloth overcoat, gauntlet cuffs, 2 outside vertical pockets, 2 inside breast do., 1 ticket do., " L. Price, Brecon" supposed on tab; 1 single- breasted dark mixture tweed jacket suit, red stripe running through; 1 pair dark grey riding breeches, leather strappings, " Larkin, Brecon " stamped on buttons; and £ 18— WALTER GEORGE HUGHES, age 18, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, hammer toe left foot, round scar size of half- crown between shoulder blades; dress, brown tweed lounge suit, brown tie, black hard felt hat, light brown boots, wearing a leather watch guard with horn snaffle bit in centre. An absentee from the 21st Lancers; native of Rochester, Kent. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Canterbury. Stated he was a theatrical scenery painter. 21.— Liverpool ( City).— For failing to report — Licence- holder ELIZABETH TURNER, alias MARGARET GRAHAM, ROGERS, RYLANCE, THERESA MACK, and BLACK, Office No. 133- 99, age 50, height 4 ft. 10| in., complexion pale, hair brown ( turning grey), eyes grey, scar lobe right ear, under left eye, and front of neck. A charwoman; native of Liverpool. Sentenced at Knutsford Quarter Sessions, loth October, 1906, to 3 years penal servitude for larceny. Licensed loth ult. g 16. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 22 .— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining £ 10 by false pretences— WILLIAM KELLY, alias JONES and C. H. HORLEY, age 60, height 5 ft. 9 in., round shoulders, slight build, complexion sallow, clear cut features, bald on top and strag- gling moustache grey, flat chest, lisps slightly; dress, grey coat, double- breasted, dark green trousers, wore a large pin in tie. He inserted in a local daily paper the following advertisement: — " Wanted, smart useful man to collect rents, & c.; state age and last employment. Address, No. — at the printers." Later he met complainant by arrangement at a dwelling house ( where he had engaged a room for two days) in a suburb of the City, and induced him to deposit £ 10 as security prior to being given an appointment. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Manchester. 23.— Preston ( Borouyh).— For stealing from his lodgings, 16th inst., a lady's dressing case ( re- covered) ; and a brown mackintosh— JOHN FORD, age about 36, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion sallow, hair dark brown, clean shaved; dress, blue jacket suit, button boots. Appearance of a come- dian. Stated he was engaged at the Hippodrome. Information to the Chief Constable, Borough Police, Preston. 24.— Wig an ( Borouyh).— For stealing a silver cigar case, and uttering a worthless cheque, No. 56279 on the London and County Bank, Covent Garden Branch, London— WILLIAM WOOL- LEN, alias WILLIAM WILLIAMS, THOMAS LACY, GORDON KEMP, NEGIL KEMP, NEGIL VICTOR, DUDLEY MILLER, and HENRY LONSDALE, age 33, height 5 ft. 9£ in., complexion pale, hair brown, front teeth project, mole left cheek, near point of jaw, scar on chin, small round scar centre of forehead, 1 do. right of forehead; wearing a light brown mackintosh, brown lace boots. Supposed a native of Sheffield. ( See Case No. 40, 20th inst.) Information to the Chief Constable, Wigan. LINCOLNSHIRE. 25.— Boston ( County).— For stealing, at Skir- beck Quarter, 14th inst., a " Raleigh" bicycle, No. 195673, nearly new, 22 in. frame, 26 in. wheels, raised handle bars, inverted lever brakes. in. rat trap pedals, Brooks' saddle, black en- amelled, lined red— STEWART LEST IE, age 27, height about 5 ft. 8 in., complexion and hair ( very thin) dark, clean shaved ( has with him artificial nose, whiskers and moustache), large ears and hands, well educated, London accent; dress, striped tweed suit and cap. Supposed a native of London. He has been to sea as cook and deck hand on a trawler. Visits Port Missionaries and Sailors' Homes. Sings at concerts and public houses. Stated he had been with pierrot troupes at Blackpool and Bournemouth. Photograph can be seen on application. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Costar, Boston NORFOLK. King's Lynn ( Borough).— Fov stealing ( by trick), 21st inst., a silver English lever watch, white dial, thin gold hands, case rather worn, glass slightly scratched, No. 14040, makers " Licker & Ketterer, Norwich," " Charles Watts" engraved inside case, white metal curb chain with bronze ambulance medallion, " Bernard C. Watts" en- graved thereon, attached— NED ALLEN, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion sallow, long thin face, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes brown, sharp nose, stoops slightly, walks badly, well educated; dress, light brown jacket and vest, dark blue trousers, blue muffler with white diamond spots, green check cap, Derby boots. Stated he was a native of Derby. He came to Lynn on Friday stated he had come from North Walsham, and that he was a telegraph linesman on the Midland and G. N. Railway at South Lynn. PERTHSHIRE. 27.— Perih^ Cc. unty .— For stealing wine, and obtaining a situation by a false character— ALBERT TIVENDALE, alias THOMAS TIVEN- DALE, Office No. S/ 16313, age 42, height 5 ft. 11 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue. He obtains situations as butler to a country family by means address. of false characters sent from a bogus Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to the Chief Constable, Perth. SUSSEX ( West). 21.— Arundel ( County).— For stealing, 30th ult., 20 fowls ( recovered)— JESSE HAWES, age 53, height 6 ft. 2 in., slight build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes hazel, carried his head forward, is said to be consumptive; dress, light brown three- quarter length jacket with large pockets, cord trousers, tied below knees, white wrapper, cap, nailed boots, nearly new. A native of Littlehampton. Previously convicted at Arun- del and Worthing. May be found at common lodging houses. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. White Arundel. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT ( continued j ~ OXFORDSHIRE. 29.— Banbury ( Borough).— For stealing, 22nd inst., a £ 10 Bank of England note, endorsed Faulks, Tubb & Co.; and £ 48 10s.— ARTHUR FISHER, alias STANLEY FOX and HENRY FOX, age 23 ( looks older), height 5 ft. 8 in., com- plexion pale, hair very dark, clean shaved, eyes grey, very husky voice, appeal's asthmatical, ad- dicted to drink, well educated; dress, light check jacket suit, cap, grey overcoat ( old), brown boots. A pianoforte maker; native of London. Traced to Cricklewood, London, day of offence. Con- victed at Weston- super- Mare of larceny, and Perth of uttering a forged cheque. Information to the Head Constable, Banbury. PEMBROKESHIRE. 30.— Haverfordwest Castle ( County). — For cruelty to a horse at Narberth ( having been sentenced to two months imprisonment)— DANIEL JOHN, alias JONGHS, age 45, height 5 ft. 10J in., complexion dark, hair dark brown, eyes hazel. A native of Crundale, Haverfordwest. Has worked in Carmarthenshire and Glamorganshire as a plate- layer on the G. W. Railway; also served in the Army. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Thomas, Pembroke Dock. 5 TA FFORDSHIRE. 31.— Longton ( County).— For failins to appear to a summons for playing a game of chance, 8th inst.— SAMUEL THORNTON, age 31, height about 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, full face, hair and moustache dark brown, eyes grey; dress, dark suit, dark mixture overcoat, dark grey cap. A collier; native of Fenton or Hindley. Supposed in Lancashire. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Oakden, Longton. WARWICKSHIRE. 32 — Leamington ( Borough).— For obtaining by false pretences, 14th inst., a gold watch ( re- covered)— Licence- holder HENRY FRANCIS HAMILTON, alias FORTESCUE, WILKINSON, WYNDHAM, and NAPIER, Office No. 3685- 97 ( ILLUSTRATED CIRCULAR 90, Figure 14), age 64, height 5 ft. 10 in., complexion fresh, hair grey, eyes brown, fleshy growth bottom lip; dress, light rough tweed jacket suit, green cap, may be wear- ing a silk hat and frock coat. Gave the name of Dr. Graham, and called on tradesmen, had goods sent to a boarding house, where he stayed from 12th to 16th inst., representing that he had taken a " shoot" in the neighbourhood. Had in his possession a canvas covered flat trunk, brass bound, leather handles, and a brown paper parcel. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Leamington. 33.— Nuneaton ( County).— For attempting to obtain a travelling case and kit bag by a worthless cheque, No. J, 86253, on the London County Ranking Co., Ltd., Covent Garden— WILLIAM WOOLLEN, alias WILLIAM WILLIAMS, THOMAS LACY, GORDON KEMP, NEGIL KEMP, NEGIL VICTOR, and DUDLEY MILLER, age 33, height 5 ft. 9J in., oomplexion -> ale, hair brown, front teeth project, mole left cheek near point of jaw, scar on chin, small round scar centre of forehead, one right of forehead; wearing a light brown motor mackintosh, brown lace boots. Supposed a native of Sheffield. ( See Case No. 42, 13th inst.) Warrant issued. 31. — Nuneaton ( County). — For stealing oailee) a bicycle, 21 in. frame, " Abbey " transfer on head, 26 in. wheels, plated rims, B. S. A. road racing measurements, bridged stays, thumb lever brake, rat trap pedals— A MAN, age 26, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion and hair fair, crooked no6e; dress, blue jacket and vest, dark trousers and cap, blue collar and front, striped tie. A bicycle builder; has worked at Liverpool and Manchester.
