All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOH OP THE POLICE GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 5. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5- i to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer oi police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. 6. NTS. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranyed by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11 Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 1* 2. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Sew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13 The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. For stealing 4s. 9d., 13th ult., at Beighton— LILIAN CROOK, age 16, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., slight build, complexion fair, hair ( plaited and worn down back) light brown, tied with blue ribbon, eyes blue, front upper and lower teeth slightly decayed; dress, blade coat and skirt, blue blouse, blue mingled straw hat, trimmed cream colour chiffon and white roses, slate colour gloves, brown lace boots, wearing round gold colour brooch with brilliants, gold guard with gold heart as pendant, carried a long grey tweed coat and umbrella. A native of West Hartlepool. He purchased his discharge from the Grenadier Guards about 4 months ago. May endeavour to re- enlist. Information to the Deputy Chief Constable, County Police Office, Durham. 19.-- Stockton- on- Tees { County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, between 15th August and'. 3rd ulto.— ROBERT CRUTCHLEY, alias WILLIS and RICHLIEU, age 34, height 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, com- plexion pale, prominent nose, hair ( turning grey), and sli~ ht scraggy moustache brown, eyes blue, small scar base of left thumb, wart near left elbow, rather large teeth, splay feet, large ears, narrow chest, slightly round shoulders; dress, dark jacket and vest, old blue trousers, blue front and collar combined, dark peak cap with white spots and braid, blucher boots ( one cut in front), carries a 2 ft. rule in vest pocket. A labourer; native of Stockton- on- Tees. He took lodgings, stating he had been a second engineer at sea, and had obtained employment as an electrician with a Glasgow firm, who were doing work at Middles- brough, engaged men to assist him, to whom he produced checks made out of Post Office withdrawal forms, and represented that they were post dated. Warrant issued. 23.— Cardiff { City).— For stealing, 20tli ult.. a light bay mare, 6 years, 12 hands 3 ins., several scars near shoulder below collar, long mane, docked tail— GEORGE DAVIES, age 28, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fresh, round face, hair dark brown, moustache light brown; dress, dark coat and vest, green cord trousers, light cap and muffler, old lace boots. Had with him a new black oil- skin coat. A labourer; believed a native of Cardiff. Warrant issued. 24.— Cardiff { City).— For obtaining £ 3 by a forged cheque— G. CAISTER, alias JEFFS, age 30, height 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, complexion fresh, rather thin face, hair dark brown, clean shaved, strong London accent; dress, blue serge suit, cap. A marine engineer or electrician. Stated he was in the employ of the Westinghouse Electric Supply Co., Manchester, and that he was going to erect an electrical fan at a colliery at Swansea; also that about 12 months ago he erected a switchboard at Southampton Docks, and for a few months prior to July he was employed at the Franco- British Exhibition. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 25.— Oursley { County).— For stealing from his lodgings, a lady's silver watch chain, and 15s. 2d. — FREDERICK LAMBERT, age 28, height 5 ft. 8£ in., complexion fresh, hair and moustache dark; dress, dark grey jacket and vest with yellow stripes, light cord trousers, cap, heavy nailed boots. Supposed a native of South Wales. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Perkins, Dursley. 26.— Bristol { City).— For obtaining, by false pretences, 17th ult., a motor cycle, 3| H. P., N. S. U. make, green petrol tank, black enamelled, " N. S. U." in one- inch letters on tank, " No. 195198" stamped in several places. It was seen on 19th inst. with identification plate " Y93" attached— D. HAGGARD, age about 30, height 5 ft. 7 in., com- plexion pale, long thin face, hair ( very thick) dark, moustache dark sandy; dress, green tweed suit and cap, new brown shoes, may be wearing a light fawn colour mackintosh with red straps on cuffs and over shoulders. Stated he represented the Ford Motor Company, Long Acre, London, and wanted to purchase a motor bicycle, had in his possession a motor cycle with identification plate " Y93" thereon, which he asked the manager to take in part payment for the machine he was purchasing. Informations cancelled. 28. — Basingstoke { County). — For the abduction of Albert Jacob George, age 10, at Pamber, 25th ult.— JANE MUSKEY, age about 70, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion dark. A cripple, walks with a crutch.— EDWARD MUS- KEY, age about 20 ( looks younger), height 5 ft. 1 or 2 in., slight build, complexion pale. A cripple, walks with a stick. They are gipsies, and travel the country with a donkey and coster- monger's barrow, and sleep in a tent. Stated their intention of going to Bristol. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. VS.— Bournemouth { County).— For obtain- ing goods & c., by false pretences— CECIL WARD, age 21, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, complexion fresh, full face, rather freckled, hair brown, clean shaved, eyes hazel; dress, blue ribbed serge suit, brass buttons, crown and anchor thereon, blue cap with gold braid and flag with " Elder & Fyffee" thereon, brown tie. He calls upon clergymen, and states that a letter containing money from hi6 father has not arrived, and obtains money for the purpose of joining his ship forthwith. Has visit- ing cards with " Cecil Ward, 3rd officer, s. s. Nicoya, Manchester," thereon. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Hack, Bournemouth. 30 — Fareham { County).— F. A. SPENCER, Case No. 14, 19th July, 1907, not to be arrested. Warrant cancelled. 31.— Portsmouth { Borough).— For obtaining money by false pretences, 11th August, 1908— CYRIL VERNON ( correct name EMANUEL WOLRAUCH), age 25 to 30, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., stoops slightly, complexion sallow, hair ( rather long at back) black, clean shaved, impediment in speech; dress, grey suit, may be wearing dark vest, cap. He represents himself as a theatrical agent, and engages persons to take a part, and asks for £ 4 as a deposit. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. 82. Southampton { Borough).— For obtain- ing goods by false pretences ( worthless cheques on Farrow's Bank, Cheapside, London)— Licence- holder SOPHIA ANNIE WATSON, alms ANNIE STUART, and ANNIE WATSON, Office No. 2573- 00 ( ILLUSTRATED CIRCULAR 69, Figure 18, Tabular Form, 7th August last, and Case No. 30, 19th ult.), age 44, height 5 ft. 3J in., complexion fresh, hair auburn, eyes blue, scar right temple, mole left cheek, 3rd joint of right forefinger stiff; dress, navy blue costume, long fitting, trimmed with velvet collar, black silk braid, light vest, gold and blue tinsel braid on front, pleated skirt, black hat and trimmings, and black veil. ISLE OF ELY. 34.— Ely { County).— For obtaining food and lodgings by false pretences, 18th ult.— HERBERT BULLOCK, alias FRED GRIFFIN, age 25, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, large prominent nose, thick upper lip, in- clined to protrude right side, 1 left upper tooth missing, lisps slightly; dress, dark grey jacket suit with small light stripes, cap to match, small bow tie, brown button boots. A native of Manea. Stated he was a railway clerk, and had been trans- ferred from the relieving staff. Previously con- victed at Bradford, Peterborough, Grantham, Cambridge, and Sheffield. A variety artist, works in company of a woman, and known as Swan and Stanley, Facial Artists, at music- halls and seaside pavilions in the South. Warrant issued.
