XXIY., NO. 2456. l. a. 3E& 2ES € 3T- " O" All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTB, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THB EDITOR OF THB POLICI QAZKTTE, NEW SCOTLAND YABD, LONDON, S. W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, ID ill be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 6s,. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, uidess the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from hi to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. Every announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the case may be. ATZON£ ll. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an offittt of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 8. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLIOE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any annouci- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 19. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Foil Office. 19. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. PAR- KINSON, age 45 to 50, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., square builu, complexion fresh, clean shaved; wearing clerical attire. He took lodgings, and on several occasions hired a tricycle. On 4th April last he hired a " Quadrant" tricycle, 26 in. wheels, " Quadrant" transfer on front, Durilop tyres, top bar can be taken out so as to make the machine suitable for a lady, obtained the above amount from the cycle agent and absconded. Warrant issued. 9.— Cambridge ( Borough).— For stealing, 21st. ult., shoemakers' tools and 10s.— STEPHEN DRAPER, age about 55, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 In., hair ( turning grey), whiskers and moustache dark; dress, dark suit, black bowler hat. A shoemaker; native of Cheshunt. Absconded 21st ult. A native of Swansea ; associates with bookmakers. He visits persons who belong to his native town, or finds some who have been in business there, after men- tioning the names of well- known persons there to them, induces them to cash the cheques. He presented a private card, " Franklyn ( J. Meager ( Beynon & Meager), Auctioneers, etc., Swansea," thereon. Was associated some time ago with E. S. Allin, cases No. 10, 27th March, and No 10, 5th April last; also wanted at Pembroke Dock and Talgarth, Cases No. 45, 17th May ; No. 12, 28th June last. He obtained two blank cheques by stating he knew the clergyman belonging to Swansea. No. of cheque, N. & S. Wales Bank, Wrexham, G. R. 165649. May endeavour to pass No. 165650 elsewhere. U.— Cockermouth ( County).— For steal- ing £ 4 10s. from his lodgings at Broughton Moor, 17th ult, — ALBERT MORALEE, age 29, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, complexion sallow, oval face, hair black, slight moustache dark, eyes brown, " Faith, Hope, and Charity" tattooed on left forearm, hollow cheeks, slightly knock kneed, walks erect, swaggering gait, addicted to drink, of military appearance ; dress, black serge jacket and vest, dark grey striped trousers, grey silk muffler, light cap, lace boots. A pit sinker; native of Durham. He was discharged with ignominy from the Dur- ham Light Infantry about 5 years ago. Supposed previously convicted of larceny. He has travelled with boxing booths and roundabouts. Warrant issued. Ih.— Cockermouth ( County).— For ob- taining food and lodgings by false pretences and stealing £ 1 5s. 8d. and a book entited " East Lynne," between 29th ult. and lst inst., at Braith- waite — ROBERT ATKINSON, alias JOHN SMITH and JOHN ROBSON, age 26, height 5 ft. 4 in., complexion very fresh, hair dark, scar side of right eye, outside right forearm, and inside left wrist, mole right side of chin, carries a snuff- box ; dress, navy blue suit, rough material, light check cap worn well over his eyes, white composition collar and front, red tie, thin lace boots. Stated that he was a native of Benwell, near Newcastle. Was convicted of larceny at Carlisle, 26th January last, and of fraud at Dum- fries, 22nd December, 1906. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Stated he was a professional cricketer, and had obtained employment at a local colliery. Supposed a native of Newcastle- on- Tyne. Is believed to be wanted elsewhere. Warrant issued. Brown, London Road, Romford," on off side in white letters— EDWARD JOHN EDWARDS, age about 30, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., complexion pale, hair and moustache ginger ; dress, grey coat and vest, cord trousers, blue and white necker- chief, light cap, brown boots. A labourer ; native of Hackney. Accompanied by his wife and a boy ( age 12 ; wearing short white trousers). Warrant issued. 19.— Romford ( County).— For being con- cerned with Sarah Andrews ( in custody) in steal- ing a bicycle, 5th May last— THO Ai AS FRANCIS WOOTTON, age 40 to 50, height 5 ft. 5 in., stout build, complexion fresh, hair light, pointed beard, well educated, of good address, pretends to be religious ; dress, light brown jacket and cap, grey tweed knickers with green stripes. GLOUCESTERSHIRE. 22.— staple Hill ( County^.— For escaping from Brentry Inebriates' Home, 26th ult.— JOHN McDONOUGH, age 35, height 5 ft. 3 in., com- plexion fresh, hair dark brown, eyes blue; dress, dark tweed jacket and vest, " Royal Victorian Homes, Brentry," on buttons, cord trousers, red stripe at sides, dark cap, " M. 299" stamped in- side clothing. Sentenced at Childwall, Lanes., 3rd August, 1906, to 3 years at the Reformatory. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cooke, Staple Hill. HAMPSHIRE. 23.— Bournemouth ( County).— For assault. 10th May last— GLADYS BROWN SYL- VESTER, age about 35, height about 5 ft., com- plexion pale, hair dark brown, eyes grey; may be wearing brown costume with straw hat, or green dress and brown toque hat trimmed red flowers. Supposed travelling the country with a quack doctor. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Carman, Fareham. 25.— Gosport ( County).— For leaving his wife chargeable to the Alverstoke Union — HENRY DANIELS, age 57, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., stout build, complexion ruddy, high forehead, hair dark, and moustache ginger ( turning grey),, may be wearing side whiskers or beard, eyes grey. A retired builder. Warrant issued. 26.— Gosport ( County).— For leaving his children chargeable to the Alverstoke Union— WILLIAM BARR, age 50, height 5 ft. 9£ in., complexion dark, hair ( turning grey) black, eyes blue, boil scar on back, burn scar and varicose veins right leg, left thumb deformed. A tramping labourer, native of Fleetwood. May be found working on farms, stays at common lodging- houses. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Cottle, Gosport. 27.— Winchester ( County).— For failing to surrender to his bail at the Hants Quarter Sessions, 2nd inst., for larceny and assault on Police.— FREDERICK COX, age 27, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes blue, heart, anchor and dagger tattooed right forearm, swallow right wrist, heart, dagger and star back right hand, cross left forearm, wears small ear- rings several silver rings on fingers ; dress, dark jacket ( large inside pocketB), dark cap, light trousers, muffler. Smith, Winchester. 28.— Portsmouth ( Borough).— For forgery — WILLIAM NEEDHAM, age 20. height 5 ft. 9f in., complexion sallow, hair dark, eyes hazel - dress, blue serge suit, soft flannel colh r, safety pin in tie, cap. A native of Wandsworth, Surrey. He was a gunner in the R. G. A., Portsmouth. He called on a Branch Post Office, opened an account at the Savings Bank with a small sum, gave a false address, obtained a Post Office Savings Bank book, then opened a small account at another Branch Office and obtained a book and by sub- stituting the leaves from one book to the other, which he filled in for a sum above £ 1, and demanded payment of twenty shillings. Information to the Chief Constable, Portsmouth. 29.— Southampton ( Borough).— For ob- taining £ 2 10s. by false pretences.— FREDERICK SHORT, age 34, heiyht 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion sallow, hair and slight moustache light; dress, dark brown coat and vest ( striped), blue trousers ( indistinct stripe), dark tweed cap. A clerk. Warrant issued. 30.— Southampton ( Borough).— For in- decently assaulting a girl, age 12.— JOHN STRIDE, age 45, height 5 ft. 7£ in., com- plexion fresh, hair dark brown, light moustache, eyes blue, round shoulders, tattooed left forearm, scar left side of neck; wearing dark coat and cap, blue guernsey.
