Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to be taken upon them by another force. S. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4 In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. %. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, • « d of 6a. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5s to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance lor cost of engraving sketches. fl Every announcement, if far the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted arid no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICI GAZUTTB, must, on their apprehension er recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to th* number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any anneuee- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so at to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper ordy; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 11. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. IJ. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons" are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent issue cannot be guaranteed. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows : — ( a) All persons coming within Section 5, 7, or 8 of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( i) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one month's im- prisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one month's imprisonment, with out option of a fine, for any of the following offences : — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Arson. Assaults with intent to rob. Attempted burglary. Attempted larceny. Attempts to break into churchea, houses, shops, warehouses, & c. Attempts to obtain goods and money by false pretences. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been pre- viously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contain the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction, or con- victions if possible, also the No. published in the list of Habitual Criminals. APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. M." left fore- arm ; wearing grey overcoat, dark cap. A fitter; native of London. Has been previously convicted at West Kent Quarter Sessions of larceny, fraud, and falsely representing himself to be an officer of the Metropolitan Police. Supposed a native of Shropshire. Is accompanied by a man, age about 38, height 5 ft. 8 or 9 in., hair dark, clean shaved, eyes dark brown, lost one front tooth. Warrant issued. CA MBRIDGESHIRE. 6 — Cambridge ( Borough).— For stealing, 20th ult., a " Calcott" bicycle, 24 in. frame, up turned handle bars, 2 inverted lever brakes, War- wick tyres, 28 by plated rims and spokes, two mud guards, rubber pedals, transfer on head, ' Agent, Reeve, 2 Mill Road, Cambridge," on back mud guard— FRANK WARNES, age about 22, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, hair ( curly in front) dark, bunch of violets with " Violet" underneath on one forearm; dress, light suit and cap. He was employed by a baker, and is said to belong to the 4th Northampton Regiment; native of Norwich. Warrant issued. 7.— Cambridge ( Borouqh^.— Fov obtain- ing £ 5 by false pretences, 16th ult.— WILLIAM F. THOMPSON, age 40 to 50, height 5 ft. 10 in. to 6 ft., rather square build, hair ( turning grey) light brown, heavy moustache ginger, weak eyes, rather talkative, appears well educated, of military appearance; dress, grey rough jacket suit, black bowler hat, had with him a Gladstone bag. Appearance of a commercial traveller. He calls upon shop- keepers, requests them to have their business in- serted in a Directory, receives orders and payment, and gives receipts on printed forms of a firm by whom he was formerly employed. May be accom- panied by a man, age 28, height 5 ft. 4 in., com- plexion pale, hair and eyes brown, fleshy mole on face, scar upper lip, arrow back of left forearm. Warrant issued. Okell, Altrincham. 9.— Hazel Grove ( County).— On comit- ment warrant for non- payment of £ 9 17s. 63., fine and costs imposed for depositing for sale, unsound meat— ISAAC DANIELS, age 32, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, oval face, hair, moustache, and eyes brown. A butcher and cattle dealer; native of Adlington, Cheshire. W— Hazel Grove ( County).— For non- payment of £ 9 9s. 6d., bastardy arrears— HENRY FORRESTER, age 33, height 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, hair and moustache sandy, eyes grey. DURHAM. 11. — Darlington ( County).— For larceny ( bailee) of a silver watch ( recovered) and a silver English lever watch, white dial, black chapters, glass scratched, hinge pin of front case missing — JOHN CLEMENTS, age about 40, height about 5 ft. 7 in., complexion and eyes dark, hair and moustache black, stoops slightly, walks quickly, impediment in speech, addicted to drink, speaks with South Country accent; dress, dark check jacket and vest, dark trousers, light stripe, dark grey threequarter- length overcoat, velvet col- lar, rubber collar, lavender and white coloured tie, black hard felt hat, lace boots. A watch repairer. Absconded 12th ult. He usually engages a room in country villages and stays a few weeks repairing watches, clocks, & c. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Davison, Darlington. ESSEX. 12. — Rom ford [ County). — For stealing, 24th ult., 5 sheets; 1 blanket; 1 night dress; 1 gold curb chain bracelet, padlock and safety chain attached; and obtaining by false pretences, 23rd inst., a black vicuna suit, 38 in. breast, size 5; and 2 boys' jacket, vest and knicker suits, black— BLANCHE MARY BRYSON, alias MARY FRASER, age about 42, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, addicted to drink; dress, rough blue cloth dress, and black hat turned up at side. A native of Glasgow. She obtained lodgings at Romford, 18th inst., stating her husband was bandmaster on a yacht, and would join her at the end of the week. Identical with Mary Fraser, Case No. 13, 24th ult. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Jones, Romford. FIFESHIRE. Vt.— Cunar ( County^.— For stealing £ 109 9s. 3d., 29th ult., at Leven— WILLIAM CAIRN- CROSS YATES, age 27, height 5 ft. 8 in., com- plexion sallow, hair ( bald on forehead) dark, mous- tache about 10 days' growth, eyes greyish brown; dress, navy blue serge suit, dark overcoat and cap. A clerk; native of Edinburgh. He was entrusted with a cheque for £ 129 9s. 3d. to cash and pay several accounts. He received £ 100 in £ 5 British Linen Bank notes, and the remainder in silver; paid one account amounting to £ 20 and absconded. Ts accompanied by a woman, age 25 to 30; dress, black dress, jacket and hat. May endeavour to leave the country. Warrant issued. Information to Chief Constable, Cupar. f GLAMORGANSHIRE. 14.— Cardiff ( City\— Yor stealing 47 rail- way carriage commode handles, between 28th and 29th ult. — ALBERT JEFFREYS, alius JEF- FERIES, age 28, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion sallow, hair brown, moustache light brown; dress, blue serge coat and vest, light cord trousers, plaid cap, nailed boots. A labourer; native of Cardiff. He served in South Africa with Kitchener's Light Ilorse, and previously in the Rifle Brigade. Warrant issued. 1 ^.— Cardiff ( CityV— For abscondine with workhouse clothing, marked " Cardiff Union "— FREDERICK MITCHELL, age 67, height 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, complexion fresh, round face, hair light. Formerly an omnibus driver. Warrant issued. 1 Cardiff ( City).— For obtaining a silver watch by a seaman's forged advance note— FREDERICK JAMES, age 35 to 40, height 5 ft. 5 in., broad shoulders, complexion ruddy, hair and moustache dark, eyes grey; wearing dark clothes. GLOUCES TERSHIRE. 17. — D U r s Ie y ( County). — For stealing ( bailee) £ 1— JOHN WOOD, age 30, height 5 ft. 3 in., complexion pale, eyes dark, nose inclined to left, clasped hands and heart ( pink centre) with man and woman tattooed left forearm, left arm has been broken and badly set, and very small from elbow to wrist, large lump back left hand; dress, light brown lounge jacket, vest, and cap, light grey striped trousers, pink and white tie, lace boots. Supposed a native of Birmingham. Fond of sing- ing in public houses. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Perkins, Dursley. 18. - Stroud ' '" ounty).— For stealing 2 shirts — W. P. WARREN, age 32, height 6 ft., com- plexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, of smart appearance, speaks quickly; dress, dark suit, fancy vest with green braid edges, straw hat, gold watch chain, carried a blue overcoat with velvet collar. Believed a native of Ilford, Essex. For- merly employed as manager of a shirt department at a clothing factory. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Biggs, Stroud. 19 — Bristol ( City).— For obtaining £ 3 bv false pretences, 31st ult.— HARRY BUSH, age 38 to 40, height 5 ft. 7 in., complexion, hair and moustache dark, round features; dress, grey suit, black bowler hat. Is a member of the Royal Ante- diluvian Order of Buffaloes, and is in possession of a travelling card of the society. A billiard marker. He arranged to play a billiard match with another marker on 5th inst. On 31st ult. the marker was engaged playing a game at another hotel when he met Bush, who shortly afterwards went to the hotel where the marker was employed and informed the licensee that he had been sent by him for £ 3. HAMPSHIRE. 2U— Aldorshot ( County).— For neglecting to maintain his 3 children, leaving them chargeable to the Farnham Union, 16th ult.— JOHN WOOD- HOUSE FINDLEY, age 30, height 5 ft. 10 in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, broad arrow, star, and flags left upper arm, anchor, cross flags and " Jeanie" left forearm, cut mark over left eye, right shin, and left fore finger. An engineer. Warrant issued. A reward of £ 1 will be paid by the Guardians of Farnham Union for the arrest of Findley. Information to Supt. HEREFORDSHIRE. 22. — Ross ( Coun'y) — For stealing, 20th ult., £ 3 10s., an English lever watch, open face, silver curb chain and seal attached, maker Vickers cfc Vickers, Shrewsbury; 1 jacket and vest ( light grey with green and yellow stripes); 1 T> air black serge trousers; 1 do., white linen cuffs, with silver links— WILLIAM DAWSON McINTYRE, alias WILLIAM DAWSON, age 25 to 28, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion fair ( sunburnt), hair and moustache light, bad teeth. A farm labourer; believed a native of Greenock. Has been employed on farms in different parts of the country. Warrant issued. Not to be arrested out of the United Kingdom. Information to Supt. Marston, Ross. KENT. 23.— Rochester ( Cify\— For embezzling £ 76 9s. Id., 3rd inst— CHARLES HERBERT CRUTTENDEN, age 33, height about 5 ft. 5 in., hair, moustache, and eyes dark. He was employed as manager of a dairy company. Absconded 3rd inst. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Rochester. 24. — Margate ( Borough). — For stealing 30th ult., a bicycle, 24 in. frame, 28 in. wheels, Maltese Cross in gilt transfer on head, in. tyres, Special tyre on back wheel, plated rims, North Road handle bars, black celluloid grips, with Helical patent turn, 2 inverted lever brakes^ free wheel, Brooks' saddle, tool bag, usual parts plated, B. S. A. tubing, rat- trap pedals, black enamelled frame, ^ in. pitch roller chain— By A MAN who gave the name BING, age 24 to 27, height 5 ft. 6 or 7 in., complexion dark, thin face, clean shaved, spoke with North Country accent; dress, grey suit, dark cap. Appearance of a mechanic. Warrant issued. 25. — Margate ( Borough). — For obtaining money bv false pretences, 23rd ult.— CHARLES E. WALKER, age 43, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., stout build, hair and moustache light brown, walks on toes of right foot, which gives him the appear- ance of being lame. He left here 27th ult. in possession of a safety bicycle, and stated his in- tention of riding to L » ondon and seeking work en route. His wife has since received a postcard from him bearing the Rochester post mark. Warrant issued. Information to the Chief Constable, Margate. LANCASHIRE. 26. — Liver/ tool ( City). — For obtaining money by false pretences, 8th March last — GEORGE LOWE, alias LEWIS and GREAVES, age about 33, height about 5 ft. 7 in., complexion sallow, thin face, hair dark brown, clean shaved, wears thick glasses with steel rims, of good address. He represented himself as an agent for an Acci- dent Insurance Company. Warrant issued. 27.— Liverpool ( City).— For failing to re- port— Supervisee JAMES SOMERVILLE, alias JAMES THOMPSON, K1RBY, MORRIS, ARTHUR COOPER, and ALFRED TAYLOR, Office No. 2685- 01, age 50, height 5 ft. 3£ in., com- plexion fresh, hair brown, turning grey. Sen- tenced at Stafford Quarter Sessions, 3i- d July, 1906, and at Lichfield Quarter Sessions, 12th July, 1906, to 12 months and 12 months imprisonment ( concurrent) and 5 years supervision for obtaining money by false pretences. Discharged from H. M. Prison, Stafford, 25th ult. 1870. To be dealt with where found. Information to the Head Constable, Liverpool. 28.— Manchester ( City).— For obtaining, by a worthless cheque, 18th ult., an 18 ct. gold single stone diamond ring, oblong stone about 14 ct., claw setting, chased shoulders, with small enamelled flower; 1 lady's 18 ot. gold half hoop diamond ring, carved gallery setting, may have " D. S." scratched inside; 1 pair diamond drop earrings, 1 stone suspended from other by platinum chain— WILLIAM DE SILVAY, supposed a Mexican, age 50 to 56, height, 5 ft. 6 in., thick set, rather round shoulders, complexion sallow, flat nose, thick lips, hair ( going bald, turning grey) black, clean shaved, eyes ( small) dark, carries his head down- wards, speaks good English with American accent; dress, fine black cloth suit, dark blue overcoat with velvet collar, black hard felt hat, uses gold rimmed glasses and spectacles. Information to the Chief Constable, Manchester. 29 — Salfortf ( Borouoh\— For failing to re- port— Licence- holder ELIZABETH KNIGHT, alias LOVELL and SMITH, Office No. 1333- 99', age 37, height 4 ft. 9£ in., complexion fresh, hair brown, eyes grey, scar left side forehead, ieft cheek, right side of upper and left side lower lip, right side chin, and on bridge of nose, " J. B." and " In memory of my mother, F. Carroll," right arm. A hawker; native of Manchester. C." in pencil inside; and about £ 6 — MATTHEW BROWN, a Scotchman, age 40 to PEMBROKESHIRE. 36.— Haverfordwest Castle [ County). — For stealing £ 20 19s. 6d.— HENRY T. HURST, age 33, height 5 ft. 11 in., complexion sallow, hair light brown, eyes grey, small indistinct tattoo marks outside left forearm, scar left side chin, splay feet; dress, blue serge jacket and trousers, black vest, grey tweed cap, military boots, carried a black mackintosh coat. Is a reservist of the Royal Engineers, and was employed as a messenger at Pembroke Dock. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. Evans, Pembroke Dock.
