All communications for insertion in the POLICE GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICH GAZETTE, NEW SCOTLAND YARD, LONDON, S. W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted in one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to taken upon them by another force. 8. Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if sufficient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. 4-. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. 6. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and engravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 5s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is large or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 5.1 to 10s._ A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost of engraving sketches. t. Bvery announcement, if for th* apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if the name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force against him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of police, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the ease may be. . A. T I O 3W ® . 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an officer of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they they are alphabetically arranged by counties. 9. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to the number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any anntuce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to he received not later than noon on Wednesday, ani for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper orly; they must be in the usual form, and accompanied by a covering letter. 12 All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Missing Persons " are only accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent , issue cannot be guaranteed. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows : — ( à) All persons coming within Section 5, 7, or 8 of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one month's im- prisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one month's imprisonment, with- out option of a fine, for any of the following offences: — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). Arson. Assaults with intent to rob. Attempted burglary. Attempted larceny. Attempts to break into churches, houses, shops, warehouses, & c. Attempts to obtain goods and money by false pretences. Bankruptcy offences. Being found on enclosed premises. Breaking into churches, houses, shops, warehouses, & c. Burglary. Cattle stealing. Coining. Conspiracies of all description*. Embezzlement. But all offenders of the first Division, and such of the second Division as have never been pre- viously convicted, are exempted from this order. In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Department, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contain the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction, or con- victions if possible, also the No. published in the list of Habitual Criminals. SPECIAL NOTICES. THE business of Harrows and Partridge & Son, 48 Clifton Street, Finsbury, London, E. C. ( see Special Notice, POLICE GAZETTE, 26th April, 1907), is now closed, having been sold up for rent. DOUBTFUL TRADERS. NUMEROUS complaints have been received by Police, respecting THEOBALD & CO., alias THE HOME EMPLOYMENT ASSOCIATION, ALBEMARLE WORKS, HOUNSLOW, which is carried on by J. Theobald, a dealer in toys and cheap photographic appliances. He advertises largely in Provincial papers, offering home work. No genuine employment is given, and a deposit is required before the so- called work is sent, and on its return the workmanship is disputed, and the " employment" ends with loss of the deposit, useless lantern slides, & c., being left on the worker's hands. Sufficient evidence of fraud has not been forth- coming to sustain a criminal prosecution. ( See POLICE GAZETTE, 26th November, 1897.) APPREHENSIONS SOUGHT. He represented that he was an Australian squatter, and had £ 8,000 at the Bank of Australasia. CHESHIRE. 9.— Birkenhead ( County).— Yor unlaw- ful wounding at Great Saughall, 24th ult.— JOHN O'GRADY, age 25, height 5 ft. 2 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, slight moustache dark, eyes blue, walks erect, takes short steps; dress, grey jacket suit, grey cap, green tie, black button boots. He represented that he was a collector for the Fresh Air Fund, promoted by a weekly periodical, and produced a book containing the conditions and advantages to poor children by aid of this fund. A grocer; native of Portobello. He obtained, lodg- ings by falsely stating he was employed at the Runcorn and Widnes Co- operative Stores, and while left alone committed the theft. DERBYSHIRE. 14.— Renishaw ( County).— Yor embezzle- ment, between 8th and 17th ult., at Greenhill Norton— BERNARD LINDLEY, age 14 ( looks older), height 5 ft., complexion fair, hair light brown, eyes dark brown; dress, light brown mix- ture jacket and vest, blue serge trousers, blue muffler with white spots, light brown cap, metal shield with " Millhouses" inscribed thereon, at- tached, heavy lace boots. A labourer or milk carrier; native of Sheffield. He served a term at an Industrial School, Sheffield, from where he was discharged about 18 months ago. Absconded 20th ult. Warrant issued. A collier; native of Old Chesterfield. Sen- tenced at Derby County Sessions, 4th July, 1906, to 9 months hard labour and 2 years supervision for cycle stealing. He travels from town to town with a Punch and Judy show. Is a deserter from the Royal Horse Artillery, and was wearing plain clothes when he absconded, 12th March last. A tinsmith; native of Notting- ham. Has been previously convicted at Stafford, Nottingham, Leeds, Hull, Lymington, and Wolver- hampton. The above reward will be paid by Mr. Frederick Robinson, jeweller, Newport, Salop, to any person giving such information as will lead to the appre- hension and conviction of above described and the recovery of the property or in proportion to the amount of such property recovered. Fauldruff was, on 17th July last, served with an expulsion order under the Aliens' Act, requiring him to leave the United Kingdom within 14 days of that date.
