W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted ta ant issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to ba taken upon them by another force. Pmrticulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted in one issue, if lu& cient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified. In all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person ratpontible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must be clearly stated. Partraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and tngravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait anai of us. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is farpf or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from 8*. to 10*. A remittance of 6a. should be made in the first instance for cost tf engraving sketches. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an ojfUar of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear m number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged b » counties. 6. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquentj or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension $ r recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to tkt ilumber of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce merit will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be receivii not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual formt and accompanied by a covering letter 12. SPECIAL NOTICE. FUGITIVE OFFENDERS A case has come under the notice of the Editor, in which a person whose apprehension was sought in England, and who was described in the POLICE GAZETTE, gave himself up to the Colonial Police. The prosecutor declined to take any further action in the matter, but the case necessitated the dispatch of two telegrams, the cost of which had to be refunded by him. To avoid such expense, the Editor requests that if there is reason to believe that a fugitive offender is likely to go to the Colonies, and the prosecutor is unwilling to incur any expense with a view to obtain his surrender, a notification be made in the communication sent to this Office to the effect that the offender is not to be arrested beyond the United Kingdom. The necessity for the adoption of such a course will be apparent from the fact that the POLICE GAZETTE is circulated in the Colonies. A blacksmith; native of Tottenham. On 21st ult. he reported here, stating he was going to Wokingham. Sentenced at Ludlow Borough Sessions, 7th January, 1904, to 9 months hard labour and 3 years supervision for larceny. Liberated on remission, 14th September, 1904. " 1361. Is accompanied by her husband, age about 40, height about 6 ft., round shoulders, • part of right arm missing, has wood and crook substituted; dress, grey jacket and cap, cord trousers. A low horse dealer. Also accompanied by 5 children ( 4 boys and a girl), ages from 12 to 4 years. They travel the country with an old green painted house van, " Phoebe Wenman, Crowbury, Sussex," on off side, and a spring cart, " Caleb Wenman" on off side shaft. A fitter ; native of Birmingham. Sen- tenced at Warwick Assizes, 5th December, 1902, to 5 years penal servitude and remanet of a former sentence for housebreaking. He solicited orders for photo- graphic enlargements on canvas, obtained deposits, and later the balance, but failed tb deliver the enlargements. Warrant issued. Supposed accompanied by a Man, age 20 to 25, height 5 ft. 7 or 8 in., complexion, hair, and moustache ( slight) dark; wearing grey overcoat, black bowler hat, dark tie.
