LTIG 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an o/ fiiir of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear • number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged bf counties. 0. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension sr recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to ths number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. 10. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announcs- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings which may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be receivsd not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual formj and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, New Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. UNDER the existing arrangements the finger impressions will be taken, and recorded at the Finger Print Department, Convict Supervision Office, New Scotland Yard, of all persons convicted as follows: — ( à) All persons coming within Section 5, 7, or 8 of the Prevention of Crimes Act, 1871. ( á) All persons, at Assizes or Quarter Sessions, sentenced to not less than one month's im- prisonment, without option of a fine, for any of the offences shown below. ( c) All persons, at Petty Sessional, Police, or Stipendary Magistrate's Court, sentenced to more than one month's imprisonment, with- out option of a fine, for any of the following offences: — Aliens ( Sec. 3 Aliens Act of 1905). In order to avoid the retention of useless records in the Finger Print Denartment, the Registrar of Habitual Criminals would be glad if the Chief Constables of Counties, Cities, and Boroughs, will, in future, notify the death of any criminal who has been finger- printed. The notification should contaiu the full name and aliases, particulars of conviction, or con- victions if possible, also the No. published in the list of Habitual Criminals. A labourer; native of Reading. Has been working on a farm and may seek similar em- ployment. Sentenced at Berks Quarter Sessions, 4th April, 1904, to 12 months hard labour for housebreaking. SPENCER, age 30, height 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, hair ( thin on top) light brown, comnlexion fair, moustache ( waxed) light brown, front teeth bad, of smart ap- pearance, walks erect; dress, dark jacket suit, tight fitting trousers, black bowler hat, button boots. Ho was employed as a billiard marker, and was sent to the bank to cash a cheque, and absconded. Warrant issued. 24.- Nottingham ( City} - For Stealing a typewriting machine, 22nd ult. ( recovered)— WILLIAM WILKINSON, alias WILKINS ( sup- posed false), age about 35, height 5 ft. 10 or 11 in., complexion fresh, hair dark brown, moustache ( very thick) sandy, eyes ( very prominent) blue; dress, dark brown jacket suit, broad tie, pearl pin therein, bowler hat ( very narrow brim), glace kid laco boots, wearing plain gold ring on left and gold band with diamond on right hand. A good typist. ( Supposed identical with Man, Case, No. .) He took lodgings and called on a Typewriting Corn- pan v, selected a machine, had same delivered at lodgings, pledged the machine, and absconded, afterwards sending pawnticket to the Company, from Chesterfield. He represented he was manager for a firm of post card publishers, and was aDpointing agents for the sale of cards, and required a deposit of £ 5 before aoTeement could be signed, obtained the £ 1 5a. on account, and decamped. Was accomnanied by A WOMAN ( supposed Wife), age about 27, height 5 ft. 5 or 6 in., stout build, hair very light, ad- vanced in pregnancv; wearing grey coat and motor cap; and Boy, age about 2 years, hair light.
