AM communications for insertion in the POLICI GAZETTE, and all communi- cations relating to them, should be addressed to THE EDITOR OF THE POLICE 6> A » 4TT£, NEW SCOTLAND YABD, LONDON, S. W. Particulars concerning persons whose apprehension is sought will be inserted one issue of the POLICE GAZETTE, if they are sufficient to enable action to bi taken upon them by another force. ... . ... Particulars as to stolen property will be likewise inserted, in one issue, if i « thlcient to enable the article in question to be thereby identified, la all cases where a reward is offered, the name and address of some person responsible for the payment must be given, and the exact conditions must bk clearly stated. Portraits of persons whose apprehension is sought for serious offences, and tngravings of stolen property, will be inserted at a cost of 7s. per portrait, and of 6s. per photograph or sketch of a stolen article, unless the article is targe or unusually intricate, when the engraver's charge will range from SI. to 10s. A remittance of 5s. should be made in the first instance for cost at engraving sketches. •• try announcement, if for the apprehension of a person, must be guaranteed by the signature of an officer of not less rank than Superintendent; and if name of such person is required to be inserted and no warrant is in force apainst him, the requisition must be signed by the chief officer of ptlice, or his immediate deputy, of the county, city, or borough, as the east may be. 7. Announcements concerning stolen property must be guaranteed by an oficn of not less rank than Inspector, or analogous thereto. 8. Announcements of all persons to be apprehended or of stolen property bear a number, and as far as practicable they are alphabetically arranged by counties. The force which causes particulars concerning delinquents or stolen property to be inserted in the POLICE GAZETTE, must, on their apprehension or recovery, at once transmit to the Editor notice of the fact, referring to th » number of the announcement, for insertion in the next issue. In all cases the officer signing the request for the insertion of any announce- ment will be wholly responsible for any proceedings tchich may result from such publication. 11. Announcements for the Friday issue should be forwarded so as to be received not later than noon on Wednesday, and for the Tuesday edition not Later than Saturday morning. They must be clearly written on one side of the paper only; they must be in the usual form; and accompanied by a covering letter. 12. All payments must be in advance, either at the office, Sew Scotland Yard, by Postal Order, or by Post Office Order, payable at Parliament Street Post Office. 13. The Space being limited, announcements concerning " Mining Persons" are onlf accepted on payment, but insertion in the next or any subsequent ittue cannot be guaranteed. Supposed to have perpe- trated similar frauds at other naval towns. Warrant issued. I'&.— Penybont ( County).- obtaining. 17th October last, 3 horses, by worthless cheques, drawn on the Union of London and Smith's Bank, Ltd., Bedminster — ALEXANDER COLSTON, age 26 to 28, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fair, hair and moustache ( small) light brown, may now be clean shaved; dress, usually in light clothes,, sometimes breeches and brown leggings, wears gold rimmed eye glasses. A native of Bristol; attends horse fairs in different parts of the country, associates with low class horse dealers, amongst whom he is known as " Isinglass." RUTLANDSHIRE. 24. — Oakham ( County). — For forgery— PERCY ROBINSON ( supposed false), age about 26, height 5 ft. 4 or 5 in., complexion and hair dark; wearing dark coat or jacket and vest, black hard felt hat, appearance of a farm pupil. He obtained 2 cheque books on the Stamford, Spald- ing- and Boston Banking Co. ( 1 on 16th October, containing cheques Nos. 158929 to 158952; 1 on 12th November, containing cheques Nos. 160081 to 160104), cheques Nos. 158931 and 160094 were filled in for £ 25 and £ 15 respectively, and cashed, they were represented to have been drawn by Robert Turner, in favour of Percy Robinson. Man wanted has been identified as Reginald Wvmer, Office No. S 58084, age 30, height 5 ft. in., complexion fresh, hair and eyes brown, small scar over right eye and left temple. A native of London. Sentenced at Daventry Petty Sessions, 10th January, 1906, to 3 months hard labour for obtaining money by false pretences. Information to Supt. Evans, Nuneaton. A domestic servant. Is accompanied by her daugh- ter, age 13, slight build, burn scars on throat ; dress, blue dress, blue cloth sailor hat with tails of black ribbon. Left here 5th inst. for London, and stated her intention of going to France. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. A fitter's labourer; native of Carmarthen. Stated he was employed locally, left his lodgings early each rnorn- in taking food with him, and after a few days, decamped. Has been convicted at Bradford, Middlesbrough, and Stockton of similar offences. Warrant issued. Information to Supt. C. & W." stamped thereon, 2 crowns and star between letters; 1 box, contain- ing 32 cartridges; 1 new tan leather jug purse, metal ring and steel chain attached ; 1 pair nail scissors, " Bonsa " thereon ; 1 stamp book, contain- ing postage stamps, " R. Gray & Co., Ltd., Impenetrable Paint Manufacturers, London, E. C." m inted on front, and " After making your selection retain book" on hack thereof. A native of London. — EDWARD WILSON, age 18, height 5 ft. 6 in., complexion fresh, hair light brown, eyes blue, scar under left and over right eyes; dress, black overcoat ( velvet collar), blue box cloth reefer jacket, black serge vest, blue guernsey, and muffler, light trousers, blue do., brown boots. A native of Islington. Found in his possession a dark green leather purse, metal clasp, celluloid name plate; 1 dark green tobacco pouch, chocolate colour lining, metal clasp; 1 chocolate colour do., dark green lining; 1 briar pipe, " Silver Band, Peterson's patent " thereon : 1 large iron hook, " J. Found in his posses- sion, pawn tickets relating to a gold Albert pledged at Landport, 15th June, 1906; 1 9 ct, gold signet ring, " J. D." engraved thereon, at Devonport, 22nd June, 1906; 1 do., set dark oval stone, at Devonport, 12th July, 1906; 1 set of gold cuff links, at Devonport, 21st July, 1906; 1 small gold brooch, 2 horseshoes and wreath, at Devon- port, 24th July, 1906; 1 pair of opera glasses, yellow leather, bound white and yellow mountings, in black leather case with straps, at Devonport, 17th October, 1906 ( all supposed stolen). HER TFORDSHIRE. 36 — Ware { County).— Committed for trial at Herts Quarter Sessions, on 7th January, 1907, for obtaining money by false pretences— JAMES HOPKINS, age 64, height 5 ft. 5 in., complexion fresh, hair and beard ( turning grey) brown, eyes hazel, scar left shin; dress, black coat, dark vest, drab colour trousers, light check cap. Carried a black box. Has been canvassing poor class neigh- bourhoods posing as a herbalist or quack doctor, stated he had been a doctor in India for 45 years, obtained deposits ( usually 4s.) for medicines or electrical appliances for the alleged cure of various complaints, promising to call weekly but fails to do so.
